Awesome Flavour. I made a Cats deck once and now I will make a B/W Rats deck.

Sad. Imagine Adaptive Automaton making it back to M13.

Everything is good except for the name.

This Should be MURDER. why Dreadbore? Why not call this Murder and the M13 one Dreadbore?

It makes more sense to Murder a Planeswalker then to Dreadbore it right?

Sweet Body and Sweet ability as well. Imagine this goes into RDW? all your burn spells are so much better with this card.

Just being bored. But do you think something like this could be done?

    Rakdos Delinquent
    B/R
    1/1
    Creature-Goblin Warrior
Unleash (You may have this creature enter the battlefield with an additional +1/+1 counter on it. It can’t block as long as it has a +1/+1 counter on it)
As long as Reckless Delinquent has a +1/+1 counter on it, it has haste and it attacks every turn if able.

    Hi guys,

    Thanks for the prompt replies.

@zemanjaski: Hey thanks for the sideboard. I may make some modifications to the side and change along the way (as I currently do not have arc trail at the moment.. at all)

and Congrats on your 3-0 win!

@Aesnath: When Gatecrash comes, maybe you will see strangleroot in burn. who knows. they may work very well together?

@both: Actually Gutshot isn't really a problem on Quirion Dryad, because i can just cast my burn spell above Gut shot, making my burn spell resolve first. Vapor Snag however, is a pain, probably thats why in Delver mirrors they side the Dryad out.

I may need to work on the burn package for my deck but basically, this is a conceptual idea in which the dryad gets adapted into the burn deck.

That being said. Here's a decklist formed from my head at the moment

Hey. Final note: Any reasons why you would run Thunderbolt over Volt Charge and Brimstone Volley?

    hi Guys.

I kinda like this deck alot. I'm want to show a new concept that revolves around Quirion Dryad.

The interesting point of this deck is the inclusion of Quirion Dryad. Quirion Dryad acts as a pseudo-Shrine of Burning Rage but acts differently as it is a creature and it grows notably stronger as it you cast more burn and draw.

Brimstone Volley has mad synergy with Vexing Devil as you can follow up the Devil's Sacrifice with a Volley for a total of 9 damage, also pumping up the dryad counters and shrine counters by 2.

Gut Shots and Probes help to facilitate the Dryad's Growth also allowing your deck to dispatch early drops like Birds and Delver.

I'm not very sure with the land and the sideboard so maybe you guys may want to give some pointers as well.

  • posted a message on What if Chess were run like Magic?
Hi Zorn, I'm trying to find a reasonable answer to justify and convince that you are wrong on this WOT. So here's my take.

In this analogy you mentioned you combine Chess and Magic together and it becomes another game altogether, one that each player puts a single piece onto the battlefield per turn. In this game, you call it "Magic Chess"

You mentioned that people can buy individual pieces to make your board stronger. and each player doesn't start off with the same stuff for each game. One player may start with Pawns, others may start with Queens.

At this point of time, it is very obvious that the person playing Queens will definitely win the Person playing only the Pawns. Overtime people will just buy Queens to win since they are the most reliable and best pieces to win the game.

In this reality, it is the best way to win because that is the way that it will not lose unless the other player has all queens as well. Thus the price of Queens will rise because people will scramble to buy them because of the reason above.

However, does this applies to Current (Modern Day) Magic as well?

    The Answer is no.

We all know that Magic doesn't work the way you mention it to be. We know that Magic is the game where we can put any number of pieces into the game, Not just one as long as you have the resources to play the piece. This changes the dynamics of Magic cause you can change how the way you play and win the game by not just the quality but quantity of permanents in play.

Not only that, Magic has cards or pieces that directly remove cards or pieces from play. That again modifies the game because players would be cautious not to let their pieces die.

Because of the fact of how Magic is made you can't show up with a board of Queens and Almost Queens and expect to win when there are so many ways to remove your Queens and even Overrun your Queens with pawns.

The reason people buy those rares or "Queens" then is because they are Queens at the current Metagame. Switch from a different deck or metagame they suddenly would not be as powerful and would be relegated to pawn or knight status.

Wizards knew they can print those Queens because they know it would help Sell packs (They are a business after all) also, they know they have answers dedicated to removing those Queens should they become too overpowered.

By making such a analogy shows that you are not very familiar with Chess or Magic itself.

    Thank you for reading.

    Quote from zemanjaski
It doesnt really matter, R&D have already admitted that Snappy has meant other colours must have worse instants/sorceries while he is in the format. Thanks for nothing blue mages! :p

You can't really blame Snappy on this. You really have to blame R&D.

I refuse to think that Snapcaster is really a Mistake when you have Restoration Angel and Thragtusk in the format. and not to mention Cavern of Souls.

    Quote from Rayvee
Just my 2 cents here ... the megacycle of overpowered two-drops makes sense as a cycle for other reasons but their casting cost. In my opinion, one of them is that they all have abilities that are quite unique to their respective color but do fit very well.

For example, Tarmogoyf has weird graveyard interaction; Confidant gives black card draw; Snapcaster gives blue efficient flashback; SFM gives white efficient tutoring.

Piledriver gives red .. a big tribal beater. For that reason alone I don't think he can be counted towards this cycle. Something like an actually good red looter would fit this cycle, IMHO.

I will recommend something like this.
    Goblin Missile Launcher
    1(R)
    Creature - Goblin
    Haste
When Goblin Missile Launcher enters the battlefield, it deals 2 damage to target creature or player
    2/1

    Quote from Xinterp
My question is: Why not use Negate? Essentially its a free 2UU Card... Seems pretty legit for a counter. And deep into the game, pushing one and then a backup Unsummon and a Forbidden Alchemy to peel seems really broken before the end of your opponents turn.

    Picture this:
You have Delver of Spirits in play.
Opponent has nothing in play but is running RGx Aggro.
It hits 4'th turn and they try to push out 2 baddies that could more than likely destroy you.
You have 4 mana and an Unsummon, Rewind, and Forbidden Alchemy in hand. (This has happened to me when I playtested this deck multiple times)

Rewind (to stop their summon)--Free 4 Mana--> Unsummon (after they summon the second, leaving them tapped out) --> Extra 3 mana? Forbidden Alchemy before drawing.

I understand that Rewind isin't cost efficient until you get 4 Mana, but come on... It is literally a free cast with player mistake recover (from incorrectly tapped mana). This card alone can provide a huge turning tide in a game. You could even Rewind into a Divine Verdict if you really wanted to and had the sources available.

Rewind in other control decks, awesome. Not so good in Delver though, because you have to leave four mana out just to wait for a counterspell. If you play four rewinds it will slow your deck down by alot, unless your decks runs entirely on instant speed, like control decks with think twice and alchemy.

Again, it depends what the support draw spells are, if you are running think twice or alchemy, rewind could be a good card for that type of deck.

I prefer to have negate, because a flipped delver could be removed by just slip or pillar of flame, thus i would rather have negate because it is cheaper, thus able to play on turn 2 (and snapcaster-able) as well.

I kinda will run something like this

The creature core of the deck seems stable and should not be changed unless ravnica bought us something new.

Fleeting Distraction is a 1 mana cantrip, and allows us to disable creatures early game while drawing a card. Cantrips are very important to Delver thus we need as many cantrips as possible.

Righteous Blow sort of acts like our Gut Shot, allowing us to destroy blocking or attacking creatures efficiently.

3 negate and 2 essence scatter since we lose mana leak, I want to have a bit more countermagic to guarantee that we can draw both negate and essence scatter.

He will be good post rotation. right now to be honest there is no reason using him at all. With Titans gone he could be a very good control finisher.

    Quote from Drifting Skies
I don't see why banning cards is such a negative, and I don't think that because a card is too powerful for standard means that WotC somehow "screwed up", or at least, that their doing so is a bad thing. I would rather WotC push the envelope and use bans when they go a bit too far than they either refuse to acknowledge that they went to far and not ban cards, or dial back so far on power that we're all playing with Storm Crows in Standard.

There's no reason to ban cards if there is nothing overly powerful about them. Simple as that.

I always thought Bonfire should damage only the creatures on the battlefield rather than the player. The combined effect of damaging the creatures and the player is very fatal when it comes to the point in time when you have alot of mana.
