This deck is too much fun to play. As of now, there are a few updates that I have added to the deck and I don't know why they weren't part of the deck to begin with. (Necropolis Regent)
I have Crystal Vein in my paper list, a little unsure why its not in my cockatrice version.
on Burgeoning: the advantage is not to consistently hit lands every turn. A turn 1 Burgeoning allows at times for a T2 Titania.
Which is insane! In addition, if you run LFTL or any way to mass recur lands to your hand (Creeping Renaissance for lands) Burgeoning is fantastic.
I'll put in another mention for Titania, Protector of Argoth. I personally run a 46 land deck with a mere 12 creatures (it was only 7 at one point) which makes it quite different than most mono-green decks
As a long time Titania player, its probably about time I added my few cents.
I started out with a sort of general value list, but transitioned into a much more combo-centric deck. We're talking no interaction outside of ensuring we don't die via Sunstone, Constant Mists, and Glacial Chasm spam.
It is really powerful, and going all in on the lands/tokens theme really opens up a lot of neat things you can do with the land base as well.
I saw a comment earlier mentioning Realms Uncharted, and I think cutting that card is a flat-out mistake. Routinely one of the best cards in my deck for a few reasons:
1. It puts a land or two into the graveyard to recur with Titania
2. Petrified Field ensures you get the other land you wanted back
3. It gets you Mosswort Bridge and Gaea's Cradle while sometimes netting you Nykthos, Shrine to Nyx.
4. It forms quite the combination with Burgeoning, allowing you to essentially flash tutor for lands and play it in response to Burgeoning triggers.
Here's something close to what I am running for those interested:
Cloudshift blinking Avacyn absolutely does protect your creatures from wraths, and is a great way to re-flip Avacyn back to her nice side.
I like what you are trying to do, but I think there are more efficient ways of doing this. Basically, how much do you want to play with Astral Slide? Because while I agree with you that the enchantment is loads of fun, I don't think that this is the best engine. I for one have found much more success with playing a generic Boros Flash deck than an Astral Slide variant. And yes, I get that changing the engine changes the deck almost whole sale, but I do see you tagged this as competitive. It is possible I may be wrong, but if you aren't absolutely 100% certain you should run Astral Slide, there are miles better engines you can run.
Additionally, if you want this list to be as competitive as possible, I think you really should consider Cataclysmic Gearhulk. Repeatedly blinking this is a fantastic way to buy you time. Additionally, adding Cataclysm might also be of interest.
I also want to talk to you about your Sunforger package. I strongly believe you should run Magnetic Theft. Yes, I know the card seems bad, but it offers you so much utility, stealing your opponents' equipment, attaching the Forger onto their creatures in case yours is about to die so you can still activate it, and instant-speed equipping Worldslayer (another card that may warrant a slot) onto attacking creatures (even your opponents', especially good if you have Boros Charm or have cast Avacyn this turn). To go with getting Forger and other equipment consistently, you may want to consider Stonehewer Giant and Stoneforge Mystic over something like Steelshaper's Gift. Mystic in particular is good with Astral Slide if you are bent on running that, while Giant is just fantastic overall.
Lastly, I think Avacyn, Angel of Hope should be in your competitive build. I understand that it costs 8 mana, but it does what the first Avacyn does, but to an extreme, which is definitely warranted in a deck with Obliterate and its ilk.
EDIT: I'm a dunce, realizing Astral Slide is not the competitive list. I'm sorry my friend. I hope you found some use out of my pointless card ramblings, however.
What I've learned is that red is a fantastic support color for commanders. Just adding red via Archangel Avacyn to Avacyn, Angel of Hope fives you Obliterate, Devastation, and Jokulhaups.
I suggested Atarka to a friend, but I don't think running two 7 CMC commanders is a fantastic idea. You either want the commanders to curve into one another or be at opposite ends of the CMC spectrum, like 2 and 6 for 5 into 6. 7 and 7 is real expensive, and you really don't want to have to choose which of your commanders to play on 7, rather you want both to be auto choices at whatever CMC they are.
Yeah, most of this is kind of regulated around us having faith no one is trying to break the format, and instead is just trying to have fun building around a more powerful pair of generals and seeing what new directions we can take our jank cards.
EDIT:
Man, I must have been drunk while writing this one originally, there were many spelling errors.
We are limiting it to the same name, but there were people in our group who wanted to try characters who had transformed in some way into characters with a different name. We just felt it would be hard to draw the line anywhere else, but you are welcome to experiment and report back with results.
My friends and I decided to do a deckbuilding challenge where you would choose one magic creature that has two different card printings and names, treat those as partner commanders, and then build decks around them (for example, you could choose both Marchesas, Queen Marchesa and Marchesa, the Black Rose as partner commanders and then build around them). I had to decide between double Selvala, double Marchesa, double Isperia, or double Avacyn, and ended up on double Avacyn (that is Avacyn, Angel of Hope and Archangel Avacyn), mostly because the idea of a Boros flash ETB deck with Sunforger seemed really appealing to me, so that's my main idea I'm running with so far.
First of all, if you were playing this format with us, what legendary creature would you choose? (For ideas, start looking at blocks that have been visited twice, like Mirrodin (Glissa for example), Ravnica, Innistrad, Paliano, or Zendikar (double Omnath anyone?), or blocks that have a time/color shift in the middle like Lorwyn/Shadowmoor or Tarkir, or creatures that got different printings in supplemental sets, like Ezuri or Daxos)
Secondly, what would you add to a Boros flash deck? I like flashing in Equipment with effects and stuff with Sigarda's Aid, Stoneforge Mystic, and Stonehewer Giant, so that seems like a good starting point. I also want to be able to run AEther Vial for more flash goodness, along with a small blink subtheme, which could really supplement a Sneak Attack package, as you can activate Sneak Attack and then blink the creatures to keep them forever. What other suggestions do you have?
I do love me some Balthor, I just question playig a 4 drop non-spirit that doesn't go face very well. In addition, its 7 total mana to get that effect.
Probably still worth it though. What might be some good cuts?
We already knew that, but just in case ya didn't, put it into your decks.
That is all for today.
