as SPTF already said, it can lead to some nasty card disadvantage. That and you're playing a card and saccing a creature to do a max of like 3 damage. Maybe more if you've got a big noble. Why not just play a burn spell?
I run 4 searing spear, 4 brimstone volley and 4 pillar of flame, but other than Mortars which can't go to the face, I was just thinking of how I could play fling a 2 drop that has the potential to do 3-5 damage. (5 open mana, pump stonewright to a 4-1 and use 2 mana to cast fling) It also give you the option of attacking with Stone then sacking him... Maybe it's not playable, just wondering if anybody more advanced then me had tried.
Bant aggro isn't that list, it's a white weenie deck that splashes blue for Lyev Skyknight and Geist, while splashing green for rancor and gavony
You beat it with Pillar of Flame
anybody else considering main decking Fling for cards like Waif and unleashed Rakdos creatures? when the board stalls out its a great way to punch thru damage, and with the 1 drop you can pump it can become a lethal threat..
The idea is to soulbind Tandem Lookout and Lobber Crew (or enchant with Curiosity), and machine-gun away (ping, draw, cast a multicolored, untap, rinse, repeat). The only problem is I almost always run out of mana... Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!
I like what you are working with, though I would cut the Goblin Electromancer he only helps you cast the draw spell, and if you really want a cheaper draw spell you could play faithless looting or Inspiration. Maybe remove the Judges Familiar for something else also, a stronger 1 drop that doesn't already have evasion, with the Stalker and the Familiar it makes Teleportal pointless. I know its a budget forum but I instantly think of Vexing Devil, maybe run that 1 drop from Avacyn Restored that you can pump... it's red and human, can't remember the name. Hope that helps
UD5, what, exactly, are you trying to accomplish with your deck? And im being serious. You need to be able to state your deck's objective clearly and concisely so you can build around that plan.
Are you a g/w aggro deck? If so you probably want to top out your curve with Wurm (even that might be too high of a curve and then maybe top out with thragtusk), and include silverblade paladin. Are you a ramp deck that wants to get to the bombs and drop them on your opponents head as quickly as possible? If that's the case send the militants to your sideboard (to bring in against snappy control decks) and include arbor elf, thragtusk, and centaur healer (to give you enough time to actually GET to your bombs), and topping out the curve with angel of serenity. For ramp you'll also want to run a full 4 farseek.
I wanna ramp to get out the Wurm and Angel as soon as possible, I went and drafted tonight and got some advice from some more seasoned players and they suggest I run 4 arbor elf 4 farseek 4 avacyn's pilgrim and maybe some borderland ranger. I'll probably also run loxodon smiter and oblivion ring. Looks like it'll be 4 elf and 4 pilgrim at the 1 drop... then maybe the centaur token at the 2 drop along with farseek, then loxodon smiter @ the 3 drop.. Thoughts..
I need at least 4 more cards for this build, and the Hunter isn't a lock, just something I thought might help me stall till I play my bombs, the Shield is to protect the Angel... Also, I have 2 Requiem Angel and 3 Sublime Archangel and 3 Thragtusk, though I'm not sure any of those spells fit the mold.. this new set makes my head spin, you shoulda seen my draft deck, what a disaster.
This is my limited deck. I've versed standard decks with it many times and won. It can even play later game which is quite nice, but I want to include some more demons and devils into it, and some field wipes to help.
I highly suggest running 4 of another 1 drop, maybe slitherhead(with the budget in mind) or stromkirk noble(also affordable).
It doesn't really matter, they're all different win cons, you could run 4 devil's plays
But yea I'd pull a Sands for an Increasing Confusion, you can infinite flash it back.
=
Played it on Cockatrice for awhile.
The deck needs a more solid draw engine honestly.. I liked playing it but it really lacked substance if you didn't start with some of your combo pieces, Tracker's Instinct alone can't handle it.
Are you playing with the Izzet guildmage? I haven't had a chance to test the deck yet, but I am counting on 6 draw spells and 3 guildmages to shuffle thru my deck quickly
I love the idea behind this deck, and for the last 24 hours I've been working non stop with my collection of cards to come up with a version of the deck without having to purchase any additional cards, I have loads of commons and uncommons from all the current standard sets, so if you feel like I am missing something please speak up. I'm pretty new to MTG, and I am desperate to find something that can compete at FNM.
Following is the deck list I've come up with, please help me with my mana base, I feel like the mana base is both the most important and most difficult for new players.
So far I have 4 rootbound crag and 4 hinterland harbor, I've got cavern of souls that I could play anywhere between 1 and 4 of. And I have one of the blue red shock land. Any advice is appreciated. Thanks
I like the idea, I've been tinkering with a deck involving Vexing Devil and Lightning Mauler, but I played a solid 1 drop like Stromkirk Noble or Reckless Waif since most of the time you won't be casting the Devil turn 1. Also the Waif and Vamp can be sacked later in the game once they stabilize and set up blockers, I even play Fling in my deck to apply direct damage.
My deck is currently Red/Green, but I'm strongly considering making it Rakdos in the light of this deck you're attempting to make. I might go back to Reg Green when Gatecrash comes out, but for now I doubt I can pull my color combination of choice off. My deck looks like this...
I plan on at least running 2 Dreg Mangler and 2 Corpsejack Menace replacing the Demonlord of Ashmouth and Wolfir Avenger. I'll probably take this deck to FNM and see how it plays before I purchase additional cards, as it stands I have 2 Manglers and 1 Corpsejack.
Blood artist doesn't fight, but with a Rancor placed on it he can attack! With the decent amount of undying, the fight theme, the the removal, and the sheer amount of damage done by stacking blood artist when more come into play makes me hesitant to remove him, I don't have all the green cards to run mono green or green with a splash of black, so when I first play this deck it will be the fight club / artist build, but I'll come back to this forum and let you know how it plays. I've seen artist ran A LOT at FNM and with success, so I assume this will be the nuts. Good luck with your deck, any advice is appreciated, thanks for the comments.
and what about Jarad? Me thinks he doesn't fit... but his friends do
I've been tinkering with a Black/Green fight club build for some time, and I really like some of the ideas you are floating out there. Corpsejack Menace seems like an auto include for me, as does Blood Artist. My deck runs about 14 black spells, and from your format it seems you are running closer to mono green with a splash of black, I'm considering going the same route for access to Predator Ooze and Vorapede, I had the latter in my deck but just pulled it when I considered the triple green casting cost and how unlikely it would be to play it turn 5.
I'm rather new to magic and deck building but here is what I would run today with the cards I have, obviously when the new set drops I will want to run Corpsejack.
I would remove my Demonlords for Jack, and maybe the Avenger for Mangler, what do you think? Also, I just edited my deck and included 2 copies of Golgari Keyrune, even though I'm only ramping into four 4 drops... Is it necessary, I think it helps my mana fixing with the 4 vamps and 4 geists both needing double black or green... hmm, this is difficult for me, I hate maxing the hard decisions.

THIS^^^ and Pillar of flame, Dreadbore etc, basically 12 removal spells or more should beat it.

I'd love to know what a Barter in blood is, but since you didn't provide hash tags I'm left to wonder...
