Does anyone have any experience running Akroma, Angel of Fury in this GW hate bear build? You can play her for the morph cost then turn 4 play flickerwisp or restoration angel bouncing Akroma, then she returns to play morphed into the glorious angel she is.
I've seen a rare few GW hate bear lists top 8 modern events recently mainboarding 2x Akroma, if anyone has any experience with this deck please let me know what you think, those who are not running Akroma, is there any reason why you don't? With all the bounce it feels like an auto include to me, but I haven't been playing cards very long and sometimes think like a timmy.
I want to run a version of your list tomorrow, can you provide advice on sideboarding, replacing the Lich (since I don't have one and friends are at gencon), and your experience or lack of experience with think twice in this list to help flip huntmaster back and forth.
I've had very good luck with essence scatter in this format, I run into a plethora of creature decks at every store I visit, and essence scatter acts as a hard counter and excellent snapcaster target. I had the removal set very similar to your list for my first attempt at this deck to prevent from screwing up the counts too much, since you mentioned you had tested the deck and had some success I wanted to give it a fair shot before I included counter spells and more doom blades. I agree that 17 creatures in the sweet spot, thats what I run in RUG flash, however there are no farseek or grisly salvages in RUG.
Haven't played Deathrite Shaman with Snapcaster Mage or Scavenging Ooze, I figured with the Grisly Salvage that I'd have plenty of targets, but he might be better served as a sideboard card, coming in main deck for Snappy in certain match ups (like ones with very little removal where he can take the game over)
I just felt like I needed an early play, and that playing Trackers and Salvages was overkill. You have 25 lands, no need for 6 dig spells...
I've been running RUG flash for the last month, I ran the original list with Yeva, and Wolfir Avenger, but I added Scavenging Ooze.
In my games Wolfir Avenger has been an all-star, if you leave mana up to regenerate him he is very difficult to eliminate.
I've struggled to deal with token strategies and some aggressive decks, control and midrange are free wins.
Moving forward I want to adjust the deck to deal with the current meta, so I was looking at the list you are currently running, but want to find a place for at least 3x Wolfir Avenger in the main.
What do you think? I prefer Avenger to Thragtusk, what do you think?
I like the Junk list you are running, however I play with paper cards, but the meta at my LGS is heavy aggro, so I think I might be able to play your list without adjustment. One guy plays re-animator, and one guy plays aristocrats, but everyone else is on naya blitz, or jund aggro, or something like that.
I've been looking far and wide for something that can stand up to the hyper aggressive decks, last week I ran our naya aggro and got stomped due to not knowing when to mulligan. This week I might try your list, but I was hoping for any advice you would give me making the transition from online to paper. More removal? Less removal? I'm kind of new to magic, only been playing a year or so and just recently standard, so any advice is appreciated. Thanks
Hey everybody, I feel like I've stumbled upon a tremendous resource. I've been looking to get into Modern and Legacy for a while, and recently built a U/B Delver/Tombstalker deck for Modern that I'm happy with. Next bridge to cross is into Legacy. First a little about myself.
I've collected Magic cards off and of for a long time, played ten years ago casually in high school, but only within the last year started playing often. However I love Magic, and I've built a decent collection, I play standard currently, so I have basically all the cards from M13 thru Dragon's Maze.
Looking forward to a Legacy deck I think I'd like to play black green control or something like that, eventually I'll have Goyfs and Bobs, but right now I don't. Some of the cards I do have I will list below. Some of the cards I might like to play include Deathrite Shaman, Vengevine, Bloodghast, Liliana of the Veil, Sorin Markov
I've got a little coin to but towards my deck, so I'm happy to spend some to create a deck that competes at my LGS at Legacy night. For reference, the first time I played modern with my budget deck I was happy to win once, so I'm not looking for miracles, but I do want to be competitive.
I'd like to pre order a couple boxes of Modern Masters but have no idea where to get the best value, ebay has them at 240, but I remember someone posting on this site that they could get them from a web-site for 220 with a promo code, does anyone know anything about this or have any advice of sites to use for MM.
Hey, I've been playing a very similar version to this deck for the last month, I ran it out at the last two major events in the area, once at a silver tournament and once at a platinum tournament. I finished 6-4 at each. I don't think Rancor fits, or makes sense in this build. You're deck relies on major game changing threats, and rancor is at its best making a minimal threat stronger, not making a major threat stongest. Those are my thoughts, it also opens you up to getting two for oned if they hold removal, and late game you would much rather draw Aurelia or Thragtusk then rancor. I don't even run them in the side, with these midrange naya builds its best to leave rancor at home.

I think I'm going to run this at the next fnm
