I've did a little googling and found older (3+years old) decks that are built around the 20/20/20 strategy, 20 lands, 20 creatures, 20 spells. It doesn't seem to be the go-to construction method of red decks these days. Most red decks are either burn (little to no creatures) or the creature-heavy RDW or Goblin decks, featuring 30+ creatures. What I'm trying to craft is nostalgic. When I first started playing MtG back in 1997, a friend of mine had a deck he steamrolled me over with. It had Bolts and Incinerates, Fireblasts and that --then-- new card, Shock. And it had Suq'ata Lancer, a creature with Haste and Flanking, and Viashino Sandstalker, and the mighty Ball Lightning. Here's what I'm thinking so far:
It's no means complete. I won't buy another set of Chain Lightnings. They'd be an auto-include.
There's plenty of great red auras worth considering.
Another route would be to add Fanatic of Mogis, a card I imagined crafting a mono red devotion peasant deck around.
I'd add control cards like Dead Weight, Journey to Nowhere. Kor Skyfisher can be good for replaying Dead Weights (if the creature it stuck to survived) or any enchantment to pluck a point of life from your opponent, via Grim Guardian. OR, go an aggro route: NightSky Mimic, Edge of Divinity, and other black/white critters and enchants. The Kor Skyfisher in that version of this deck would be a powerhouse, returning an Edge to make your Mimic big again. Just some thoughts.
My thoughts are leaning toward upping the creature quality: i.e. Shriekmaw and other uncommon Evokers (that pair well with Carrion Feeder) in the TE build; and with the Reality Acid build, again, uncommon creatures, but which?
I want to see a 5c Control deck for Peasant, and have been digging around online for a while now. Here's an old Pauper list: http://deckbox.org/sets/98375 That list is centered around Teachings and stuff with Flash (Havenwood Wurm).
I think there's enough red cards to center a deck around Fanatic of Mogis. Rakdos Shredfreak, Frostburn Weird, the new m14 cerberus with double strike come to mind. There has to be more.
I can't believe I didn't catch that. I always forget that Tempest set didn't have rarity colors, so I didn't notice.
Exodus started using rarity colors, if I'm not mistaken. And Auratog was made an uncommon in Time Spiral. But, those gold colored Togs listed above work.
I've been seriously considering making a Peasant Fanatic of Mogis RDW deck, a port of the now Standard red devotion deck. Heartlash Cinder might be a nice addition, Fanatic of Mogis' lesser cousin, but still dangerous nonetheless. And Gorehorn Minotaur contributes to red devotion as well.
For your deck, consider using Seismic Stomp to pave way for an alpha strike, maybe one or two for the sideboard against other aggro decks.
Consider using your sideboard as a totally different game plan. For example, you could fill it with weenies and mid-range aggro creature (Rakdos Shred Freak, Phyrexian Rager, etc.) when facing Izzet Tempo or Stompy. That's one idea, probably not the best, but...
Electrickery is crucial somewhere, I feel. Soul Sisters fold to it; even Stompy can get caught off guard by a well-timed Electrickery. Or, even better: Crypt Rats.
I'm going to chime in and say that Blightning may be over kill. I think there could be a better 3-cc card to fill in that slot, but that might just be me.
4 Valley Dasher
4 Jackal Familiar
2 Oxxida Golem
4 Lightning Bolt
4 Fireblasts
4 Incinerate

Do you have any input?
BuG TE:

Since you're running so many sacrifice outlets, running two or three cards such as Traitorous Instinct might be worth it. It's a sort of removal card.
2 Burning-Tree Emissary
or
2 Boggart Ram-Gang

Auratog + Enchantments like Launch or Rancor (ones that go back to hand when they hit the graveyard) + one of the white creatures with Heroic

And I like Ichor Wellspring. It has great synergy with the Foundry.
