All this talk of banning Sylvan Primordial is downright ridiculous, are you people seriously afraid of a creature that can be easily dealt with? Have you ever heard of countermagic? What about exile spells? How about house banning instead of trying to ruin my fun!!! There are creatures far more broken and game warping than SP; the more I read this thread the more I consider selling my EDH decks and moving on to Legacy. No, this is not a flame post, this is a sincere concern about all of the incessant whining about supposedley broken/overpowered cards; Lets learn to metagame.
What do you think about Dark Tutelage? I like the fact that it is way cheaper than Bob (monetarily speaking) and sturdier as well, not to mention that there are more ways to tutor for it.
If I activate Zirilan of the Claw to put a dragon onto the battlefield, and then activate Sundial of the Infinite does the dragon permanent remain on the field or does it get exiled by Zirilan's activated ability?
I'm not advocating playing cards on the Banned List without prior warning or approval
From your playgroup, I just want to know if given the approval of your playgroup, do you enjoy playing with cards like Tinker, Tolarian Academy,Channel,Balance, etc. I imagine some of us enjoying getting to bust out some old school brokeness with those who don't mind taking and giving a major reaming. Since there aren't any formats besides Vintage where such cards are allowed to roam freely, do you enjoy taking a break from being friendly? Which cards on the Banned List do you play with if any? What is your playgroups reaction to the plays that such cards enable?
I am glad that a viable lifegain Commander has finally graced EDH with his prescence. I've always desired a Commander that can fullfil my dreams of playing lifegain and drain in the same Commander; he is a success in my eyes.
I'm weird in that I like new border more than old, I'm slowly trying to make my DnT all new bordered, just a shame Rishadan Port can't be new bordered. I was really kind of expecting FTV 20 to have it.
The only foreign card I have is Thalia, Guardian of Thraben and that's mostly because people forget she has first strike. It's won me games. Slightly scummy? Maybe. Hilarious when people swing into it? Always.
There is nothing weird about liking new borders more than old; I think that the new borders feel cleanly compared to the dirty old school vibe I get off of old border cards. It isn't to say that old borders can't be attractive, if anything there are quite a cards that look more aesthetically pleasing in old border. Maybe the "dirty" old border is a testament to the harshness of some broken old school cards, or perhaps I'm just reading too much into all of this?
I see what you did there, you Magpie you!!!:)
