Yeah whydirt got it right, I've even had Kor Chant in my cube, but since I'm close to 100% foil I took it out.

But now that it's getting a Modern Border foil it's going to find it's way back in. Chartooth Cougar seems to be getting one as well

Not 100% Confirmed but it seems as Kor Chant is getting a reprint at common in Conspiracy. It was name-dropped in Sam Stoddard's most recent Latest Devolpments article.

This is big news since Conspiracy contains foils! (At least I think it does!). Which is sweet since Kor Chant hasn't ever been foil until now.

As I run cards based on whether the card can be foil or not(So close to 100% Foil including lands) that means Kor Chant could maybe find it's way back into my cube Smile

Anyone get a chance to see the Vintage Masters preview article?

Arrogant Wurm is now common. Seriously making me reconsider my No-Magic-Online policy.

Something I've noticed while looking through people's cube lists is that Blinding Beam is a near staple while very few include Frost Breath.

They are very close to bring the same card, both are instants except frost breath is always entwined for one mana less. I understand that Blinding Beam can keep more creatures tapped since the clauses are separate but is that big enough a corner case compared to the corner case of frost breath being able to tap one guy while blinding beam can't? (Frost breath says up to two target creatures)

I understand white is a more aggressive color than blue in most cubes, but I also think that most cubes can support a white/blue fliers deck, so I don't see why frost breath is not considered a good card when blinding beam is almost staple.

I am arguing for this card as a multicolored card, these types of activated ability cards are easier than straight up multicolored but slightly more difficult than monocolored but that's where the reward is.

It's a primarily blue card though, so it's value comes from playing a more defensive role. I've been a fan of these early defensive cards for blue in cube such as Halimar Wavewatch and Frostburn Weird, with the Weird being a breakout hit in the Return to Ravnica limited format. Gumming up the ground in this way to play the larger 3 power fliers later in the game is a suitable strategy for blue decks. Not to mention being a cheap mana sink to leave up the possibility of a counterspell or a 3/5 blocker very early on. I firmly believe this card is a role player and much stronger and nuanced than it appears on first glance.

Anyone get a chance to see the set?

I was most interested in the multicolor cards because the enemy combinations were sorely lacking in my cube, we got passable ones but I'm most interested in Frilled Oculus

    Frilled Oculus 1U

    1/3

Activated Ability 1G: CARDNAMe gets +2/+2 until end of turn. This ability can only be activated once.

Darkthicket Wolf from Innistrad has showed this is a great ability and I love it on the defensive body that being blue gives it, and the pump is very cheap as well, probably a better blue green card than 2/1 flash evolve.

    @BrownBeard

I think the Leyline Phantom is supposed to be an evolve enabler in Gatecrash draft a repeatable 5/5 in a format full of evolve is very close to Gavony Township on some boards, which we all know is insane specially at common.

As for our purposes in terms of Pauper cube I don't think we benefit as much from having to recast a 5/5 over and over again, regardless of his size. Ideally you're using your mana to progress your game plan at that point.

As stated before, it's a fun interesting card but ultimately outclassed by the other green 3 drops, or at least nothing I would be too quick to cut.

The evolve mechanic looks fun but the more I think about it it might be underwhelming when creatures need to evolve twice to be passable such as the raptor.

Also you should Aerie Ouphes to good green anti-flying "hate".

What do you guys think about Drelnoch as blue high end finisher? Seems pretty interesting.
