Oct 31, 2014Darkninja107 posted a message on Casual Castle: Deathtouch Pingers Part 1I think I'll work on a Pauper version of the R/G build, but I'll need to find some good beaters since Wumpus and Heavyweights aren't legal...Posted in: Articles

Mar 9, 2014Darkninja107 posted a message on Casual Castle: Nemesis of MortalsI really like this list! When I get a chance (and some extra cash) I might look into picking up the cards I'm missing to make a slight variant. It would be great if there was a way to fit Whip of Erebos in there to bring back threats, but too little will inevitably get pitched and too many will take up too much space. Maybe Genesis is worth testing but it would increase the budget a bit.Posted in: Articles

Feb 4, 2014Darkninja107 posted a message on Launch Giveaway! My favorite Magic card would have to be Bloodgift Demon! It's a demon (which those are always pretty cool), it supplies card advantage since it's a Phyrexian Arena on a stick and it can fly over other creatures to beat face! What more do you want from a black creature?Posted in: Announcements

That will definitely be a sideboard card.
8x Mountain
4x Rootbound Crag
4x Acidic Slime
3x Roaring Primadox
4x Brutalizer Exarch
2x Manic Vandal
3x Viridian Corrupter
2x Tyrant of Discord
3x Beast Within
4x Ancient Grudge
3x Smelt
3x Caravan Vigil
2x Demolish
3x Melt Terrain
Primadox works well, plus it gives me some aggro or defense, so I added that and took out Cloudshift for it and added a Viridian Corrupter. I also threw in Ancient Grudge and took out Abundant Growth since I don't need white in the deck anymore.
Thanks for the advice guys!
I built this deck about a month ago so I haven't thought about any m13 cards besides Smelt. I'll playtest it and see what I think. I think it will come down to Cloudshift being an instant and Primadox having to make me recast creatures making them vulnerable to counters, but i'll see what i think. Thanks!

3x Beast Within
4x Cloudshift

Strategy: Destroy all their land to completely shut down their deck.
The deck relies heavily on Liquimetal Coating for early game land destruction. Use it with Viridian Corrupter, Manic Vandal and Smelt to start taking care of land by 3rd turn. Acidic Slime and Brutalizer Exarch to take care of lands and give some protection against creatures or the 3/3 Beast I give my opponent after using Beast Within to take out a land. Cloudshift helps to flicker any of my creatures for extra destruction. Tyrant of Discord is there to beat them for a win if they didn't scoop already and he can get rid of any other nonland permanents that might still be on my opponents side of the board if they have no more land or takes care of a land otherwise.
I'm aware that this deck is easy to disrupt, especially after the first game since my opponent will tell what the strategy is. I haven't tried it at a tournament yet, but I've playtested against other friend's decks and my own and I come out pretty succesful if Liquimetal Coating is in my opening hand.
Any comments or suggestions are welcome and appreciated!
@Yorutenchi: I have more spot removal in sideboard if I feel I need more in certain matchups. I'll look into fitting in more after I test it at FNM possibly, I'm curious to see how it would do as is. And I don't want to go down the BA road with this deck, maybe a different one in the future, because it is a great card. I've often thought about Lashwrithe, but my games seem to consistently become:
T4: Obliterator
T5: Bloodgift
T6: Mikaeus
So I feel Lashwrithe could break that flow that I have, but I haven't playtested with it yet, so I'll look into it.
Any more thoughts?
Keep Fiend Hunter in your Sideboard, just in case you end up needing more exile options.
As far as the new build: It looks pretty mean! Lawkeeper can really help get around blockers! Cathedral Sanctifier great for the extra life, but if you find yourself needing more blockers don't be afraid to switch for Doomed Traveler. Playtest the deck and figure out how everything can work together and what your weaknesses are. Playtesting is very important once you have a build, and it can help you figure out a solid sideboard.
As far as Silverblade Paladin, run as much as possible! He really ups your hittng ability. Bond him with Champion or with other Paladins and you can have them on the ropes almost instantly.
4x Diregraf Ghoul
4x Highborn Ghoul
2x Butcher Ghoul
2x Soulcage Fiend
4x Geralf's Messenger
4x Phyrexian Obliterator
4x Bloodgift Demon
2x Mikaeus, the Unhallowed
4x Go for the Throat
3x Essence Harvest
3x Bone Splinters
3x Geth's Verdict
3x Death Wind
4x Doom Blade
2x Altar's Reap
I know I'll have trouble against any artifacts since there's a lack of removal for them. But hopefully I can work around them before they can affect me.
This is a good choice also! I forgot about it. It can really come in handy if you start to run to later game turns. Usually you want a fast win with aggro, but sometimes it just might not happen, so it's nice to have a back up like Devotion.
