The foil price is kinda troubling. Foils have, at least for me, represented the health of the game. The most rare iteration of a card. As long as they stay at a premium, the game is fine. But if they lose too much value, it means that the most valuable part of the card market is failing. I mean they are still quite a ways from being anything less than premium and now we have to factor in the extra rare iterations into the equation. Certainly will be something to watch. Hopefully it's just a momentary dip.
I am almost positive this is momentary. The format certainly isn't what it was but almost everyone is waiting until after packs start getting cracked. For what it's worth I noticed across multiple trading platforms and at my LGS modern trading was pretty dead until after MM was spoiled, which resulted in a surge of trades. People were just waiting, not primarily a lack of interest.

I don't think they will be, the promo fetchlands aren't crazy prices like that, and Return to Zendikar was printed into oblivion. A lot of players aren't crazy about the borders. Some of the fetches and shocks look REALLY ugly, too, and you can't just really play expeditions with non expeditions (I mean, you can on a literal basis, but I imagine most players with money like that won't do that)
I meant MM2017 boxes not expeditions, sorry I am on my phone and couldn't edit out tbe second half of the post.

So rogue deckbuilder mentioned in one of his videos that the print run on mm2017 is going to be much lower than originally anticipated. Honestly if you want a great long term investment pick these things up. They will be the holy grail for anyone who enjoyed Modern (which is a very large group) and will skyrocket long term.

Many youtubers have said many things. We'll know once the boxes are actually on the shelves... but even then, they could have a "mysterious" second print run like Eternal Masters and crash everything again. Wizards would be stupid not to up the print run; these will sell like crazy.

Blue won't be bad forever, agreed. I think those foil Tarns will be a great pickup

I replaced my Jund stuff with trades on mtgtraders and channelfireball

I started buying expedition foils last year and really regretted it, I sold them and am replacing them with the original fetchland foils, and Ravnica shockland foils. Waiting for store credit to go through, I'll officially have Jund and Junk's landbase foiled out except for Marsh Flats, which I'll pick up once they tank from Modern Masters.

I actually quite like Expedition shocklands (because they go really well with BFZ full art foil basics), but haven't sprung for any of the fetches. All those foils are KTK or will be MM17. Hopefully the foiling process isn't as ugly and dull as MM15. Deltas look great. Tarns should look amazing.
large print run or not two years from now these are easily 300 and five years I wouldn't be shocked to see them at 400

Looking at the Lord of the rings card game which has long been discontinued, their last set they filled with good cards that made it super popular and is still a valuable set despite being a dead card game
Now modern unlike the Lord of the rings card game will not die anytime soon. Honestly this is one of the best possible investment opportunities I have seen I n a long time.

Honestly if you have mishra's baunle get rid of those things asap. The new duel deck that will have Lovisa vs Jhoira screams bauble reprint. Both the cards are from that era and this just feels like a absolutely perfect opportunity to wedge a card like bauble in.

I've been wrestling with the idea of a x5 print run, I definitely think it is likely but how will this affect prices? I am thinking it will be something like conspiracy with card prices tanking, followed by box prices, eventually ending with everything slowly going back up. That being said with modern not exactly flourishing, how likely is it that the card prices will tank? I don't care either way to be honest, but I am wondering what type of an effect the high EV will have on the sealed prices.

Good lord this is insane, I kept trying to tell myself I won't buy packs but this is almost too good to resist. At best I might be able to hold off on a half-dozen drafts through the next month or so. However I really do wonder if this is their last modern masters, so their milking it dry.

I was play testing this and it feels rather awkward on turn 2-3 without a culling. T1 you can do some disruption and throw cards out but I feel like you end up with card disadvantage due to your mana acceleration cards like lotus petal and dark ritual. Chrome mox feels immensely worse than lotus peteal or ritual so I think cut those two for sure. I think those cards are necessary but I think some of your higher expense cards like undead warchief really clog up the system. I also find I have a hard time discarding stuff for a 2/2 zombie with cryptbreaker. I think Gravecrawler is a must in your build, as you can make your deck a toolbox of things to do with recurable creatures that allow you to control your opponent. Gravecrawler could be discarded with crypbreaker, sacrificed to culling for infinite mana with a zombie out, and act as some pressure. The changes I would make would be
    -2 Dark ritual
    +2 culling the week
Culling feels like you lose out less on card advantage and feels more long term

-4 Undead warchief (sorry too clunky)
    +4 Gravecrawler
Lowers CMC of deck and offers a more resilient approach

    -2 Chrome mox
    +2 Murderous cut
Gives you an unconditial removal spell, chrome mox feels slow and puts you at a disadvantage.

    -4 Grave Defiler
    +4 Relentless dead
Grave defiler is good but costs too much for my liking. Dead offers card advantage, a bigger body, and infinite combo with culling.

Really it comes down to your prefences as it's your deck, don't feel pressured to make any of these changes. I just wanted to offer my opinion. Anyway I like your deck idea and I wish you luck!

Maybe death's shadow and basilisk collar are both flukes, but I found it very strange that they both spiked a month or less before they were spoiled. I realize there is absolutely no way that wizards could have anticipated those spikes, or that they would have been able adjust printing to fit the cards in the set. I just find it very strange that it happened.

I like a lot of the cards you have listed but I really would like to see Linvala, keeper of silence instead of Archangel of thune. Linvala has been stuck at 40 forever and I think a mythic reprint would bring her down to 15.
I have a victory tell when I saw her. I did not expect her to be in the set as much as I wanted the reprint.

So what are the mytics so far?

    Black: Grisselbradn, X
Red: Bonefire of the damned, X
    Green: X, X
    Blue: Snapcaster Mage, X
    White: X, X
    Multi coloured: Domri Rode, X
    Colourless: X, X
    Land: X

MM15 had 5 cokourless mythics, and no multicoloured, or land mythics.

Note, I still think they will unbann Jace the Mindsculptor on the 13th and keep it's reprint a secret.

The the other multi color mythic I think that winner is voice of resurgence

If there's is a mythic land it better not be cavern of souls

You feel mindsculpt Jace will get unbanned, how come?

Voice is a virtual certainty. Aside from the fact that it is on the very short list of cards from RTR block that actually need a reprint, Star City lowered their price a couple weeks ago despite being sold out.

I counted and there is a gap between 229 arid mesa and 233 Crumbling Necropolis. Two spaces are filled by Azorius guildgate and boros guildgate but there should be another card that isn't listed so fingers crossed! As for rarity I would be very unhappy if it is a mythic.

So far MM17 is shaping up to be something really special this time around. .

The first 2 days of spoilers are almost always the best. By Friday people will be *****ing again about the overall content.

Modern Masters 2017, more like fetchlands 2017.

I am actually pretty hyped about damnation. I always wanted to try it but $40-$60 for MAYBE a one or two of in the sideboard wasn't interesting me. However if it goes down to $20 I will definitely pick some up. My worst matchups tend to be decks that go horizontal such as Coco, allies, abzan. Anything that can wrack up a board I can't blow past. I think damnation would be a finished against these decks, they over extend and on turn four you wipe having three turns of cards in your graveyard allows you to go right into them the next turn. I also am really excited about verdant catacombs, I realize we no longer are as hard into BG but one of the worst cards for me to play against in the past was blood moon. Catacombs allows us to fetch for a forest or swamp. Outside of this scenario it's really not a big deal because I almost always fetch for a shock but it's a slight improvement.

I just saw someone mention that damnation is unlikely because of griselbrand being a mythic and lily most likely being the other. I feel that with griselbrand spoiled it makes damnation ever more likely because damnation would fit well with an angel/demon theme. Could we see damnation at rare?
