I am a player who would love to play Serra Angel, because she is the bomb, but do to the mentality of everyone else, I often play stax or combo decks that win very fast in EDH. I have tried to build casual, tribal pirates, OG Elder Dragons like Arcades or Chromium and such. These decks are always met with some U/G version with TNN combos or a Kiki Jiki combo, or some other type vanilla garbage that I've seen over and over again. So, I choose to play to win. If that's LED/Doomsday, so be it. I'll lower my guns when my opponents do.

Lou, Don't be obtuse. Channel requires no setup at all. At least with Academy, you have to have a board state to have it active. Big difference.

Alright, a rules question. If I have Alhammarret's Archive in play and use Sensei's Divining Top to draw a card, will I draw a card and draw my top again or will I draw 2 cards then place my top back on my library? Is there a way I can stack the effects so that my second card I draw is the Top?

Might be a silly question, but why is Jace still banned in this format?

So looking at the current ban list, why is Coalition Victory banned, but cards like Test of Endurance and Helix Pinnacle legal? Both seem easier to win with than Coalition Victory.

Considering the RC's stance on things like the Moxen and Library, Sheldon, your response seems hypocritical. There are plenty of cards that don't get to get played. Why not just do away with things that are on the reserve list. It would do wonders for bringing new players in and possibly balance the format abit.

I could be way off here, and this might be too much, but what would the format look like and do for players if the RC started the format at 4th edition? Anything printed after that would be legal. Most of the high priced cards that scare newer players away would be dealt with here. It would take care of dual lands, high priced out of print things from Antiquities, Legends, and Arabian Nights. Not sure if it's a good idea or not, but it might work.

I would add some counter magic and keep Prosh off the table. You're playing some great stuff, but not enough things to make sure you have control. You have nothing to stop your opponents from removing your Stax pieces. A couple of other annoying artifacts that you might consider are Portcullis and Noetic Scales. Also, Meekstone, with Frozen Aether can go along way in a Stax build. Also, since you're already playing Lattice and Unwinding Clock, you might consider adding Kill Switch. You can pretty much lock everyone down with this.

Something you should consider making room for is a bit of counter magic. I also like Karn Liberated and No Mercy in Stax builds. Things like Sunder can go a long way too.

How does Tree of Perdition interact with Wound Reflection? Is this a win or no?

Might be a silly question, but what happens if there are 2 Tree of Perdition in play, with different toughness?

Is there a way to put Tree of Perdition ability on the stack, and use a card like Transmutation to make a player's life total 0?

It's funny how the RC gets bashed on here. There are calls for ban this, ban that. Stop this play style, it's unfair. Yet, the RC, WOTC, and players have been able to grow Commander into the hottest format in Magic. The format seems to be in good hands and have good direction. There will always be cards that some feel are unfair, while others see them as alright.

I can win on my opening turn before anyone else gets a turn with Thraximundar
Turn 1: Badlands, Dark Ritual, Entomb, entomb Worldgorger Dragon, use remaining 2 black mana to cast Animate Dead, creating infinite red and black mana due to Badlands leaving play and re-entering. Then use red mana to kill table with Comet Storm. Fun for everyone.

What I'm wondering is what would happen if Wizards finally decided to print an unlimited print run Modern masters at 99 usd all year and just rotate cards in it every year to hit changes in the modern meta. They could pretty much just reprint whatever modern card they wanted in the unlimited MM set, stores could run Modern draft whenever they wanted, and if someone wanted an entry point to eternal formats they could just run modern draft instead of the standard.

As it has been mentioned by multiple people other then me, this is a terrible idea. Wotc tried this one time ..it was called Chronicles. That set almost destroyed the game. Players left in droves because their collectible cards prices nose dived and players lost interest in the game. It took a few years to get the game back on track after that damage. Doing what you ask would do the same now. You have people that play this game with 5 and 6 figure collections so they can play multiple formats. Do you think those players would stick around if that collection went from 5 or 6 figures to nothing in a short period of time? Look at Yugiho and Pokemon. Those card companies did exactly what you want Wotc to do and those game are dying.

There is zero reason to draft or play sealed if there is no way to get your money back through card prices. Wotc covets limited because of the money LGS make off it. Hell its how Wotc introduces new cards at releases. Imagine a pre release weekend where no one goes because you cant get your moneys worth out of the cards.

Honestly, looking back on Chronicles, what did WOTC reprint that was so bad? Elder Dragons? City of Brass? It's not like they reprinted Juzam or Nether Void. A controlled Modern release at $99 for would do wonders for the format. I mean really, would it be that bad if Goyf was a mythic in a pack that was $4? Doesn't seem to be hurting Jace right now.

You don't see any of the cards in Chronicles being worth anything now because they WERE worth something and then tanked, that's the whole point.

Blood Moon would like a word with you. You guys talk like Chronicles was some great reprint set that crashed the market. Nothing major was really reprinted in the set. Elder Dragons would still have tanked. What else was there? Crossroads maybe, but it still goes for $10 in some areas.
