Optimizing damage question. It's Turn 1 you're on the play. You have a swiftspear, lynx, and nacatl. And you have three fetch lands in hand. Who gets paid first? Does this change when you're on the draw?
I really like this build. I'm gonna try the Orzhov Charm this evening. It seems so versitile. Have you felt weak on card draw with cutting bauble?
Also I have tried the 16 land package before, I felt super light every game (my sample size was like 10 games) I always got stuck with 1 land for like 3 or 4 turns. Really slowing my aggressiveNess down.
Finally, no stony silence? Is that a meta choice or do you feel R. Charm and needle is enough to out run affinity?
Hello,
I have been playing paper magic for almost 15 years. I am looking to play some MTGO because of my time schedule.
I have always loved the limited format and want to be able to play more of it.
I love watching legacy and holiday cubes and want to play if possible.
What are the costs of these cubes?
Can I play them if I don't have the cards?
Any info on cube drafting would be helpful
Thank you.
So some background
- I started playing at my shop about 6 months ago (About when khans came out)While drafting KKK or KKF or FFK I did decently well usually top 5. Since Dragons I have been in the bottom 2-3 every week. (Except last week when drafting MM15 I placed 4th)
- my store does 3 rounds each 30 minutes each
- this makes me want to play really aggressive strategies. But for some reason since Dragons came into the pick I have been drafting U/B control (And I hate it) Maybe its the cards that come to me or I just stink at drafting.
Any tips on getting out of this funk would help. I just cant figure out how to draft DDF.
This idea came, when watching a tcg video by Frank. He was playing Abzan Ascendancy with Blood Artist and a soc outlet. Since the Acendencies came out I wanted to find a way to abuse them. YES! I know Jeskai has been abused. Usually though I just see it durdling with its loot ability. I'm gonna focus on the untap +1/+1 ability. I would like some help though to make this more streamlined. The tough part is we are in 4 colors. Simic for base and RW for the Ascendancy
The deck plays to get out Jeskai Ascendancy and Axebane Guardian with 5 or 3. 5 for Sprout Swarm and 3 for Mystic Speculation. Both will give you infinite +1/+1. Sprout Swarm will give infinite guys. The issue I see right now is the lack of haste. Do I put Fervor in?
What can make this deck better?
Do we play Ugin, the Spirit Dragon? I mean G(r) has Karn why cant we have a huge colorless planeswalker. 8 is not hard at all. Its a psudo-sweeper. If we ultimate, its major card advantage. Drop our lands and Mindslaver/Emrakrul. FTW
Game 5 Match 3
We were both fighting for 3rd.
I was playing Mardu- He was playing 4 color Sultai (splashing white)
He had a Monastery Flock and a Ruthless Ripper and some bears - blocking pretty much anything I could get on the board
He had me at 2 while him at 21.
I top deck Palace Siege. Naming Dragons. The next 4 turns were draw go but it put me ahead weakening his resolve.
I am able to get some removal and swing in FTW. One of the best matches I've had in a while.
Thank you for the advice. Siege Gang Commander and Geist Honored Monk are going to be shoe ins. Thank you.
As for Purphoros, God of the Forge and Cathars' Crusade, I dont think they will either see play in this deck. I have used Purphoros before and I find him a tad underwhelming. Cathars' is the opposite, to powerful IMO and I am not a fan of winning like that. (I win that way in other decks )
You are probably right on the Dictates and Archetypes. Probably going to be removed for the new goodies.
Master of Cruelties is a remnant of Kaalia. Again, probably going to be booted.
I might TP a Sunforger package. Not sure yet. I run it in my Naya build. If find it to be really Mana intensive. Something Mardu is not good at handling.
I really like Falkenrath Aristocrat. Never mad to see it. Great sac outlet.
As for Promise. Usually a late game hit. Great to reload the hand. And easy to cast. I have a pretty diverse mana base. (I know I didn't post it) but it has ABU and Ravnica Duals. Filters and Fetches. Plus Urborg. (Yes a random Blood Moon would hurt.
Again thank you. This definatly will help. I have TP this deck on Cockatrice and it has done fairly good in 1v1. It might take a few weeks to get this on cardboard and in a real MP game. Goblin Rabblemaster is a key card (dont have one...not paying $10 for one right now either)
Who do we have-
1. Kaalia-best
2. Oros- Worst (IMO)
3. Tariel-Ok but not great
4. Zurgo (now)
I have been running a Kaalia deck since I started back up. (Innistrad)
This deck is my most tuned/pimped deck. I love it...others hate it. She is a broken commander and people don't even like the look of her.
With the new Khan's cards Mardu is getting a much needed face lift.
I want a new build that uses the shell of my pre existing Kaalia deck but with a new feel.
I did not include lands as I dont think my mana base is nessacary for this post.
I will say though, I use Phyrexian Tower and High Market. I think having a sac outlet is necessary.
I have been able to test play this deck in a few 1v1 matches. I found it to be very fun and resilient. I chose Zurgo Helmsmasher to pilot the deck. Even though my build is not Voltron, of these colors and for the style, he is the best in my opinion. He is a good finisher.
I wanted a psudo-token buuild using cards like the dictates and archetypes, and Ankle Shanker to help. I dont know if this is a great way to go or not.
I plan to use all meld cards.
The station idea is not bad either. Thanks
Here is the idea
Using the meld mechanic is key.
Cards like Feral Shadow, Urborg Panther, and Breathstealer to summon Spirit of the Night
TheKaldra Set
The EmpiresSet (Crown, Scepter, and Throne
Bogbrew Witchand Company
And the Tron Lands.
Do you get the idea?
I need more ideas though.
Any help. Thank you

What can make this deck better?
What's the disadvantage?
Have some questions though. Now with Treasure Cruise banned and Dig through Time banned do we still put 2 Relic of Progenitus in the SB or just 1?
Also, what has been the consensus on Dig being banned. I ran 2 but now dont know what to put in its place.

My best game was turn 3 Goblin Rabblemaster followed by a turn 4 Ankle Shanker. These 2 cards were a beast and hard to stop.
Any input would really be appreciated.
I comboed him withconsumptive goo and seedborn muse.
