Combat-centric commanders is just very Boros-like, and there needs to be a color combination that supports aggressive strategies to keep the meta interesting, otherwise there would only be durdly and combo decks. I've seen that happen in our meta. Of course, there's plenty of other non-Boros aggressive options, but if you want to hit hard and fast, R/W is the way to go, imo. Complaining that Boros is too combat-oriented, is like complaining that Golgari Commanders tend to focus too much on graveyard and sacrifice interactions.
I'm okay with it coming off the banlist, but then there's so relatively few cards that are banned compared to the total cardpool available, so I'm not feeling constrained at all in the way I build my decks because I can't use the card.
The reason why I think it would be okay for our playgroup to unban it is that whenever someone drops a card that can you take you far ahead within one round of play (Consecrated Sphinx is a similar offender), that player goes into Archenemy mode, and typically every other player will invest resources to trim that player's board state down as soon as they can. That being said, for this to work you need a meta that is very heavy on removal and disruption, which is a meta not everyone enjoys, I believe.

2. Ramp and card draw are not an issue anymore. Ramp never was, and in recent years there have been plenty of options printed that will help Boros to keep cards in hand (The Immortal Sun, Stolen Strategy, Mentor of the Meek, Endless Atlas, Staff of Nin etc.)
3. By default one color combination has to be the worst, and if for Commander that's Boros, then so be it. I do not see any issues this this.
