I run a similar build to Salvino but I run Wall of Omens over Night's Whisper because of it's big butt, the no life loss and the fact that it can turn your Path's into ramp when they're dead. Speaking of Path, I run a full set that I pair with a full set of Field of Ruin since you can run a lot of decks out of basics. I also run Nihil Spellbomb over Relic.

Here's where I'm currently at with Jace:

@BK-V I tried to watch the Hoogland stream this morning, and then I was reminded why I don't watch him anymore. I agree with everything you said above, especially the part about Search for Azcanta. I cut Serum Visions entirely from my list as a result, and I don't think I'll be looking back anytime soon.

For those who haven't played Jace, Vryn's Prodigy, I encourage you to sleeve him up and give him a shot. I truly believe he works better in this shell than Snapcaster Mage a large majority of the time, since we're tapping out on our turn often.

22 lands my also seem a bit greedy in a shell without cantrips, but Search for Azcanta and Jace looting help us filter through the deck very quickly to find what we need.

I'm definitely going to try running 3x Azcanta without Serum. I'm running Flayer. I like the idea of being able to legend rule one into the yard to activate delirium. But even then, if you have a Sunken Ruin, you can still play Search because of the "may" clause.

I could never play Prodigy over Snap though. Even though we don't have nearly as many instants as other blue shells, I think it's invaluable to be able to Snap Decay a Blood Moon or Snap Push a creature with haste to protect your Jace.

I think it's going to depend on your build. If you're aiming to go long with a more control oriented build then obviously you have to include Snap. But after testing a more Rock oriented build in the mold of Jund/Abzan, Snap has been pretty clunky. The deck's average CMC is already a bit higher with Jace and often times I found myself with a LotV on the board but not wanting to +1 because I had something like Jace, Snap and a land in my hand. Specifically as it pertains to LotV, I think you want to take a more proactive approach and Snap is more reactive. This is why I think Vryn's Prodigy is worth testing. Something like a T1 IoK/TS followed by a T2 JVP followed by a T3 LotV is just much less clunky. The truth is, I really just want to play a BGx deck with Jace at the top end. If I was going to take a more controlling route with Snaps I'd probably just play some type of BUx pure control deck instead.

Oh I'm not confirming it, just seems to work out in my mind because they never seem to reuse the Invitational art on these. And speculation with enough weight could indeed affect prices.

Would anyone be surprised if it ended up being new art for meddling mage, voidmage prodigy or teferi, mage of zhalfir?

That is absolutely not Teferi, given how badly that clashes with his aesthetic. (Although he was quite the troublemaker back in the day!) Almost assuredly not Meddling Mage either, since the color palate indicates it's definitely mono-U. The artists are actually given pretty specific instructions about aligning their palate with the colors of the card. Voidmage Prodigy is a possibility, but... is that really going to be the poster-child for a MM release? Doubtful.

It's not guaranteed to be Snaps, but I'd say it's the best bet by far.

Voidmage Prodigy is not legal in Modern Wink

Clearly you've never played with Vial Wizards. It's legal.

Cheeri0s is degenerate. It can simply t2 far more consistently than any other deck right now. I see people bring up t1/2 Grishoalbrand kills but that entails a very specific opening. Cheeri0s really just needs a t2 Paladin/Sram and a handful of 0cmc equipments. Anyway, I wouldn't be surprised to see something get the axe. I'm hoping it's not Opal because Affinity is fine.

As for Tron, even though I despise the deck you cannot ban it for the reasons mentioned above. B/G/x would just clean house.

Tron. No deck in Modern bothers me more than Tron. When they natural Tron it feels like were playing decks meant for different formats.

Holy ***** do I hate that deck.

This is purely based on the card in a vacuum but i dont feel Felidar Guardian does enough on its own to warrant a slot. At least Restoration is decent on its own, and kiki can have value on turns after it has entered play.

This is why I can't get on board with Feeder/Thune. Restoration and Kiki are just much better cards on their own.

My problem with Dredge is not so much that it makes you sb hate but how specific that hate has to be, especially from a tempo perspective. The fact that more ubiquitous stuff like Scooze and Relic are largely too slow for the match-up speaks volumes IMO.

So does Hidden Herbalists slot into Zoo? Your nut draws always consistent of multiple BTE.

So this makes those BTE -> BTE -> Bushwacker draws a more frequent thing. Of course, you have to lead with something like a fetch and then card first but this seems really strong.

Baral actually has a pretty healthy relationship with Lightning Bolt.

Lightning Bolt takes him out quite cleanly, but only once he's resolved and on the field. That allows you to take advantage of his abilities if you have a little extra mana.

So he fails the bolt test but with like a D instead of an F. Really not bad.

Honestly, I don't think the bolt test should apply to anything 2cmc or less. Bob fails the bolt test. Trading 2cmc for 1cmc isn't good, but it certainly doesn't mean the card isn't modern playable. Like I said earlier, if it were a 3 drop it'd be trash. At 2cmc, it has a pretty sweet effect and can be used to block goblin guides, snapcasters, etc.

The bolt test in this case is essentially just the fact that it turns on your opponents removal. In the shells this wants to be played I can't imagine there being many if any other bolt targets outside of snap. I suppose best case scenario in this regard is that it eats a path that would've dealt with your Colonnade.

Now that Tron is done splashing red is it safe to bring back Magus of the Moon? It can still eat a Brutality if they have Sphere/Star out but I don't know, even with Fulminator, Crumble to Dust, Kataki and a pair of Stony I always have trouble vs. the deck. Oh and Phyrexian Revoker has been a house in the match-up, there have been several instances where I've gotten the opportunity to Chord it in in response to the opp casting Ugin.

I'm not a fan of Fatal Push but maybe that is because I like creatures that cost more than 1cmc. Seriously though, the bolt test is real and this only makes the threshold for being a 3cmc+ playable creature that much higher.

There is now a market crash because of the treasure chests. Rightfully so, because it is now completely unclear what you will win. For instance, in the introduction video the first chest gives a whopping 0.0051 (buylist Goatbots)/ 0.034 tix (sell list Goatbots) of card value.

With less options to win packs (which contain cards that can be redeemed) with constructed events you can almost only win virtual prizes now. Q: What is worth a virtual Tarmogoyf which whom you can only win you virtual cards? A: Not so much anymore as it used to be. MTGO is going into the direction of being an overprized version of Hearthstone (Arena is 4x cheaper than a League).

I think the crash has more to do with the redemption change and WotC's obvious first step in decoupling the paper and online markets. The day the announcement was made I sold my collection which was valued at about 10k. I didn't even think twice about it either.

I don't understand the poor reception. 6/11 P/T spread across 4 bodies seems like a very good rate for 4G assuming delirium is active of course. If it sticks it will close games; at the very least it gives you a mana sink. It clogs up the board well, makes combat math difficult and effectively blocks Avacyn/Gisela. I think this is being underrated a bit here.
