i'm thinking about getting some (2-3 maybe) gisela, the broken blade into the pretty much standard creatureless shell and a singleton Bruna, the fading light. Sure, Gisela is super fragile and will most likely end up getting in your grave, but that requires them to spend their mana on it (UW with reflector mage and spell queller will be a nightmare though) and when you find your gisela and get it to resolve its pretty much game over most of the time. And for the times they can't handle gisela, well, shes pretty much insane on both offense and defense.
Your thoughts about those 2? Sideboard only? If not at all, why?

Jul 10, 2016I think the card that makes or breaks this deck is Ishkanah, Grafwidow. This card is just so good vs everything creature based, I fail to see why most of you dont even have a single copy in the 75.Posted in: Standard Archives
Remember Hornet Queen? That card came down and closed the game for most aggro and even some midrange decks.
Sure, having the 6 evasive power in game also was pretty crucial in her success, but the most important thing was to create a good amount of blockers.
While Ishkanahs tokens dont have deathtouch, they are also able to block fliers and the spider comes down at 5 mana instead of 7, with the benefit of having a good lategame ability. Stall the game, attack with your mindwrack demons and drain their life.
Also I think the new liliana will play very nice with this deck, as it is another card type for your grave and gets you your creatures back.
Jan 27, 2016am i missing something or are you more than unlikely to even cast a bane of bala ged in this list with 23 lands and no mana acceleration except for the tokens you can create with warping wail?Posted in: Standard Archives
I'd suggest either a more aggro route without those high cmc cards or a ramping route. A deck with both reaver drone and ulamog, the ceaseless hunger just seems wrong to me sorry.
Maybe exchange those high cmc cards with ghostfire blade
Sep 20, 2015What do you guys think of Sagu Mauler in this kind of deck? I really like that card, a 6/6 trample hexproof is a tough test for all the abzan decks that will be there especially in the early runs of the new standard, even harder for them to deal with now that elspeth is gone. Also I dont think many people will have that guy on their radar, making it even harder for them to deal with him. If only tragic arrogance didn't exist.. That card will give us rampers a hard time I guessPosted in: Standard Archives
May 28, 2015Shamanic Revelation is awesome. I never really sided it out. It sometimes is a winmore card, thats true, thats why I wouldnt want more than one copy, but often it is just ridiculously great. Especially in my build, with that my one offs, if you draw like 5+ cards the chances of finding that nylea that you need to break the stallment or the nyleas disciple to gain you the life you need to win a race, you get it.Posted in: Standard Archives
Also dont underestimate that 4 life pro 4+ power creature, this card was often like a sphinx's revelation on drugs, drawing you 7 cards and netting you 20 life brings the game out of reach for most decks immediately whereelse the game couldve been close, for example when facing several flyers and not having the answers in hand, making racing favourable for you.
The many one offs in the mainboard also worked pretty decent with the full 4 genesis hydras, giving you often much more choices.
May 24, 2015I just had a very successful weekend (won a 26 players FNM and finished 2nd at a 73 man tournament on saturday) with Gr Devotion, when there aren't many control lists in your meta, this deck is still VERY good. It is just the superior midrange deck against most of the field when built correctly (at least 2 arbor colossus in the 75 for the many dragons for example) and has a very good postboard matchup against mono red aswell. Abzan aggro can be tough, but with a decent draw you're still superior most of the time (would say its 55 / 45 matchup in our favor).Posted in: Standard Archives
My list for reference:
May 2, 2015What about Dragon Whisperer when talking about 2 drops btw?Posted in: Standard Archives
I mean you play alot of RR cards anyway, may just put some of these in. Most of the time not a turn 2 drop but I think it could be decent on its own anytime in the game as a manasink, much better when you got formidable up.
Sometimes it may be your turn 2 play, sometimes just a lategame dragon generator/evasive pumpable threat? ALso I'm thinking aswell to switch to a more aggressive way of the deck, cutting coursers for fanatic of xenagos just to get rid of any enchantments since my metagame is full of abzan aggro aka dromokas command which is a damn good card against singleton good enchantments on the board.

This is what im toying around with at the moment. Basically Vanmeters List, cutting the Atarkas for Kolaghan, the storms fury, the ashcloud phoenix for Shaman of the great hunt for more agression and the ability to draw cards and the rugged highlands for more scry and colour fixing. I often had that Atarka stuck in my hand, and after several days of testing I just think atarka belongs more in a whip or ramp deck, since its not always the most easy thing to ramp to 7. Kolaghan brings a bit more agression to the table, beeing somewhat stormbreath dragon 5 and 6.
Really like this list so far, what do you think?
Mar 24, 2015really like your list BlitzkriegRDS, but I think caryatids are a must when you play green with a high curve. Also Thunderbreak Regent just seems too good in a dragon shell.Posted in: Standard Archives
I think a creature base one could settle on as default for future testing (may of course be changed) could look like this:
DeckMagic OnlineOCTGN2ApprenticeBuy These Cards 4x Sylvan Caryatid
4x Courser of Kruphix
3x Thunderbreak Regent
4x Stormbreath Dragon
2x Dragonlord Kolaghan
1x Dragonlord Atarka
this leaves us with 10 Dragons, the not-to-christmasland kind of play where you get a t3 Regent into a t4 Stormbreath puts already that much pressure on your opponent that I think a mix of 2-3 Kolaghans/Atarkas may be enough. We now have plenty of room left for removal and utility, I think 24 lands should work just fine with coursers, caryatids and atarkas command, maybe 25 but definitely not 26.
Sep 18, 2014I think green devotion will be a strong contender at least in the early stages of the new meta. The deck doesn't realy change, so experienced pilotes will have no trouble to play it, even more so since the deck is pretty streamline proactive. It has a natural good matchup against Aggro Decks and with the lack of a 4 cmc sweaper the control matchup gets better aswell. There is no doomblade or ultimate price for your fatties, the removal that gets rid of your fatties almost always costs 3 mana or more.Posted in: Standard Archives
Another plus is the simple shell of elvish mystic, sylvan caryatid/voyaging satyr, courser of kruphix and polukranos, the world eater (and Nissa, worldwaker) which has proven to be very good.
The Lack of Garruk surely hurts but as yet mentioned, Genesis Hydra is quiet good aswell for getting out guys fast, also chord of calling helped the deck getting the exact creatures you need.
I will propably start off with a G/b type of deck, chording a Ob nixilis, unshackled in response to cracking a fetchland does not only sound nice, I can't imagine why it shouldnt be back breaking alot of times.
Also Pharika, God of Affliction will be very good in the propably midrange controlled metagame, same goes for Hornet Queen, especially if big flying threads become a thing.
Sep 10, 2014I guess wether we want caryatid or rattleclaw is kind of a meta call.Posted in: Standard Archives
If your / the general meta is flooded by aggro decks caryatid seems to be better, if it is more the midrange/control meta, rattleclaw outclasses caryatid by a ton imo, since it can attack and give you the advantage of the turn 3 morph into 6 mana available.
Sarkhan is independen of a walker oriented style imo, as it is most likely stormbreath dragon most of the time with situational removal. A flying haste guy is always nice as curve topper creature wise.
Not sure if I want Xenagos, the reveler in the mainboard (at least in my fericious style deck) but surely in the sideboard.
Sep 10, 2014consider see the unwrittenas a card i wouldnt count out so fast.Posted in: Standard Archives
With that, an Archetype of Endurance could be on the battlefield as soon as you get to 6 mana (and have a 4 power guy for double the fun).
Here is a list I made up:
DeckMagic OnlineOCTGN2ApprenticeBuy These Cards 4 Elvish Mystic
4 rattleclaw mystic
2 sylvan caryatid
4 savage knuckleblade
4 Boon Satyr
4 Polukranos, world eater
3 Surrak Dragonclaw
4 Temur Charm
2 Temur Ascendancy
2 see the unwritten
2 Nissa, worldwaker
2 sarkhan, the dragonspeaker
23 lands (including possibly 2 nykthos, shrine to nyx
This list gives you the opportunity to ramp out your 5 / 6 drops as soon as turn 3 with morphed Rattleclaw mystic on turn 2, granting great aggression and allowing you to keep mana open the following turn(s) for temur charm shenanigans / playing one of your 7 flash creatures and still having pressure.
Resolving a See the unwritten turn 4, granted you have a 4 power guy out, floods the field with possibly 2 more big creatures. If you manage to get temur ascendancy out inbetween somewhere nets you up to 2 extra cards with that play and gives those guys haste.
With 2 Sarkhan and 4 Temur charm you have 6 possible removal without messing with your gameplan all to much.
Nissa is good to make sure you always have ferocious online, even more important with cards like Icy blast, Adamant negation or maybe savage punch out of the sideboard.
Im really hot for a deck like this.
All the possebilities...
Sep 10, 2014Hm I would consider running temur charm, mb even the full playset for its versatility. At least its still 4 expensive manaleaks which shouldnt be to bad for us with mana accelerators. In my list I also switched the coursers for boon satyrs (which enable ferocious and are much more aggressive). so we have 6 flash creatures we can cast if theres nothing to counter / fight. Im not sure tho if the manabase is fine without running coursers.Posted in: Standard Archives
Also, hence we run courser/boon satyr + polukranos + our 1-2 drops all beeing green, how about mb 2 nykthos, shrine to nyx in the mix?
