Mindbreak Trap (and Containment Priest) are both meta calls. Obliterate, Boseiju and infinite combos involving
casting and bouncing palinchron are too common for my tastes in my meta.
What are your thoughts about Crawlspace? Also, what are your experiences with Mobilization?
My friend tried to convince me that it's a bad card that requires too much mana to be useful ever, but I've
seen it on the other side of table quite often and it always seems to be really good if it sticks...

Mar 14, 2015Bur posted a message on EDH: Ertai the CorruptedI'd probably cut Prison/Propaganda first, since I'd prefer to have an option to protect my PW's.Posted in: Bur
Also, what are your thoughts about Oblivion Ring etc.?
And are 15 Scepter-able instants enough?
... I'm really having trouble with cutting stuff. I still kinda want to add few more counters and removals... -

- Norn's Annex. It was a artifact and not enchantment.
+ Ophiomancer. Since I'm an idiot.
+ Hero's Downfall. Removal for PW's (and that removal is needed in my meta.)
+ Return to Dust. Since 2-for-1 exile is good.
+ Torpor Orb. Since I don't like EtB-creatures.
Also, the thing that worries me a lot is that I have contamination but no way to play around it myself. I would need to have few more mana rocks that produce coloured mana.
EDIT: Removed Contamination.
Also, not cutting Crawlspace or Containment Priest anytime soon. Crawlspace only states about attacking me while Containment Priest is a meta-call.
Also, I don't like Seals since they let my opponents know that the removal is coming miles ahead... -
Feb 7, 2015Bur posted a message on EDH: Ertai the CorruptedI still left Containment Priest, since reanimation and stuff like Tooth and Nail, GSZ and Chord of Calling are quite common in my meta...Posted in: Bur
But, more suggestions what to cut and what to add? I think I'm little bit over 100 at the moment... -

What counterspells would you suggest besides those?
Also, what do you suggest I should cut? I need to cut still quite a few things, any suggestions? -
Oct 20, 2014Bur posted a message on EDH: Toshiro UmezawaPosted in: BurQuote from ISBPathfinder »Personally I went away from Drana, Kalastria Bloodchief a while back because she was just so mana intensive to really utilize. I think she is still decent but you might also test Sheoldred, Whispering One in her place. I was originally against utilizing her but she does some decent work especially when paired with some recursion. Against hexproof voltron is where she really shines but I think she is still a fairly good value engine all around.
Disciple of Bolas goes back and forth for me as well. I ended up cutting him from my list because I rarely had disposable creatures that would give me a good number of cards. Low creature counts + utility based creatures makes him a bit awkward.
Rescue from the Underworld was always awkward for me as well. It exiles itself so you can only use it once and it has a delay which can be incredibly awkward if someone does something on your turn to a creature you want to keep. I ended up cutting it myself due to just odd timing in general with it as well as needing two targets and it exiles itself when it resolves.
Rescue from the Underworld and Bone Dancer are the things I probably won't end up cutting, since they are in the decks just because I like them mechanically (and have a pretty foil of Rescue).
I'll keep Disciple and Drana in mind while I keep on testing. -

Both of those options would be solid picks. Picking up another tutor could also be an option for you such as Diabolic Intent or Beseech the Queen. I don't see anything that looks like it has to make the list that is differing between our lists.
Yeah. I have hard time trying to figure out what to cut, since I haven't had enough chances to properly play test everything (there are some cards I haven't still seen a single time, like Oversold Cemetary and Withering Boon).
But, if you think of something that might not be a good idea (or something that makes you think "why?"), let me know. -
Oct 20, 2014Bur posted a message on EDH: Toshiro UmezawaOkay, that's weird. I see normal deck list with no problems.Posted in: Bur
Also, I've been thinking of cutting Boon of Erebos and something else, but have hard times choosing what. (I'm planning to try Jet Medallion and Word of Command.) -

Argentum Armor: Even though it is expansive, it is one of the few ways to remove enchantments and artifacts in mono-B.
Burnished Hart: Since ramp is good and it counts as a creature, why not. I like this card more than many other cards that have been released in recent years.
Stinkweed Imp: He's a dredge-enabler (and a good one), but he's no way necessary.
Your suggestions:
Jet Medallion: I thought about it, but ended up cutting it, when I still had few too many cards...
Boseiju: I doubt he'd be that useful in this deck, since at my meta counter-based controls are quite rare (= there is exactly one + few decks with few counters).
Gauntlet/Caged Sun: I don't like Gauntlet, but Caged Sun is actually good... I wonder how that slipped my mind, considering that I run it almost every EDH I have...
Dark Ritual: Since I just don't like mana rituals in EDH. I like them in Legacy, but not in EDH.
Damnation: I considered it, but since the deck has already quite a lot removal, and mutilate usually removes indestructible things, I picked it over Damnation this time.
Grave Pact: I should actually play it in this... But firstly, I need to find 8th version of that, since I dislike the other arts.
Oh, and just so that you know, this deck is not exactly stax. It's more like... UB-control disguised as mono-B deck. - To post a comment, please login or register a new account.
Normally, when you skill someone, you can post and they can only read.
When someone skills me, we both can post.
People don't know and can't see the other chats I have with other folks.
Tammy and Vaimes behaviourally town
Anak most likely town based on Az.
Idk what to make of HR, but him talking about mechanics most of the game as town isn't unseen of.
Boom and Bessie were kind wet noodles in our neighborhoods D3.
Wisp is Wisp.
I can't really remember anything noteworthy from others on top of my head.
I was at Tammy and HR town
Vaimes and Cantrip townish, but wanted more from them
Wisp is towniest neutral in a while.
Az/Anak mafia.
After seeing today's flip and thinking about it, we live in either one of the two worlds:
1) All towny/active people are scum
2) Scum team is full of grapefruits too afraid to kill towny/active people.
Behaviourally, Tammy has been very towny and I can't really see anything scummy from them. I was worried about Vaimes, but his posting in our QT was really good.
Boom's "explain to me your real reads" is ??? but that's about it.
I thought HR was town based on Anak/HR interactions (and Anak being mafia), but that's baseless point now. Though I must say that I checked out Banned mafia (where both Az and HR were town) and apparently HR spent most of his time taking about mechanics in that game too, so make of that what you will.
I'm relatively sure Anak is town now that Az flipped town. I mean no insult by this, but I have hard time seeing As getting manipulated like that by mafia!Anak.
Imagine for a moment you are mafia. Your mafia buddy targets me and tells you via scum chat that I'm passive neighbouriser.
Is your thought "hmm, better check that out myself too, just to be sure" or "hmm, better use my skill on someone else then"?
Anyways, I guess it's time for me to spill the beans:
I'm Nettle, Town Skill Master.
The ability that I teased yesterday is that I turn any Skill chat that targets me (but not other way round) into a regular neighborhood.
I was targeted yesterday by Tammy (day start), Wisp (after I targeted him with Skill), Vaimes (after I mentioned that my role can be mod-confirmed), Bessie (soon after Vaimes) and Boom (~48h before day end)
I also targeted Cantrip yesterday with my Skill, hoping that he'd be more active that way, but that didn't seem to work.
Anyways, yes, I can confirm what Vaimes said about claiming vig.
Bessie didn't talk that much, only mentioned that they scum read Az/Anak, suspect Vaimes and think Cuth is neutral. They claimed that they opened the chat since they were curious.
Boom didn't say why they targeted me, only that they guessed what my ability does. They said they were saving their skill for coordinating the double yeet with possibly Az. And asked me for my "real reads" after I said in the thread I want Az dead towards the end of Day.
The chat with Wisp boils down to "wait, I thought you were wolf" and then us talking about reads. I can write some summary of you want, but I'm not currently spending much time on Wisp since I'm relatively sure he's neutral.
Vaimes spent some time on asking me to explain to him why I'm town, talking to me about his reads. Now that I actually reread the chat, he mentioned early on that Cuth skilled him (and later said that vig skilled him), so that checks out.
Tammy: I actually skilled Tammy N2 and claimed my role to them back then. She said that she targeted me since we got free chats D3. We talked a lot about reads, mainly revolving around Az/Anak. Then bit setup speculation, talked about the mass claim idea. Tammy actually thought at one point that Az TMI'd my role. Tammy then revealed to me some secrets about town protective/doctor(?) and then asked me about my read on Bessie.
I mentioned this to Tammy towards the end of Day, but I think there's 0-1 scum in the people who targeted me yesterday with Skill.
Me claiming that my role becomes mod-confirmed to those who target me with skill seems pretty tempting offer, but I don't think more than one scum would use their skill to check what my ability is, since they can obviously just share it with their mafia buddies.
So, [Tammy, Wisp, Vaimes, Bessie and Boom], out of which I should probably eye Bessie and Boom, maybe Vaimes.
Obviously ignore this if you have some good, concrete evidence that mafia has no means of communication to each other during the day. I just feel that most of the time these days mafia either has unlimited daychat or daychat enabler.
D1 CC self-voted and made it hard to analyse his wagon.
D2 we didn't manage to eliminate anyone.
I've felt good about Cantrip's posts, but his constant disappearing and lack of presence don't make him my top tier town read.
Excuse me, I've made it clear that my preferred eliminations would be you/[Anak or Tubba] that will also let Wisp to win the game. I can join on voting Wisp out, but that's not at all what's my preferred choice today.
The thing is, we can't let Wisp be in this game in LyLo either.
Let's assume we are at 4/4/1. Wisp has killed 2/3 Witted people.
We eliminate mafia with Wit. Wisp leaves game. That's 4/3/0.
Mafia kills someone. 3/3/0. Town loses.
Now, if we don't allow Wisp to join any wagons town has 4 votes and mafia has 4 votes. Town can't eliminate anyone unless mafia helps them bus someone. Town still loses.
And even if mafia busses someone Witted without Wisp joining the wagon, Wisp will still leave the game (and loses the game) if he's unable to win, which still brings us back to situation #1.
Now, the same math works with even if we go down on numbers to 3/3/1 or 2/2/1. So even if Wisp doesn't manage to kill any more Witted people before LyLo, Wisp can vote with town until we yeet witted mafia (or lose to misyeet). After that, it's back to that same scenario.
So, we have 3 options:
1) Help Wisp win (which causes him to leave the game)
2) Make Wisp unable to win (which again causes him to leave the game)
3) Yeet Wisp (which causes him to leave the game AND town missing any chance to yeet mafia).
I'd like to #1 to happen, since Wisp will leave this game one way or another whether we want it or not. I'd prefer to take chances to hit mafia instead of spending a day to yeet Wisp.
Or someone Leeroy Jenkinsing and hammering only one of the two people (assuming we don't decide to only yeet one person today).
