Aug 23, 2014jwf239 posted a message on Off Topic: Gaming the $ystem for ValueWhat is the easiest way to go about obtaining all the cards online so that you can actually redeem them? I am interested in getting a full set of theros for EDH purposes. I did not play many theros drafts online so I would need some commons, uncommons, everything. Do I just have to take the time to pick through vendors?Posted in: Articles

This was years ago, but the easiest of my lists to link to http://www.mtgmintcard.com/mtg/decks/eventdecks/khans-of-tarkir-ptq-roanoke/jason-freischlag/wb-midrange
Notice I only had 2 cards over 3 mana and I also had 5 draw cards to help smooth things out. I still ran 24 lands.
It sees some fringe play; it is more of an EDH card though. The price is going to absolutely plummet. It doesn't seem like it will be a serious player in standard, and even if it is, the amount of new supply is going to kill the price.
That depends what you mean by "bounce back". Every card that has lasting appeal outside of standard slowly creeps up after the post rotation crash. That will certainly be the case here as well but I expect the price to be in the ~$10 range a few months after the set release. My guess is we never see it approach anywhere close to what it was before the reprint was spoiled.
I'd rather that over it being the only deck. The card is just way too powerful with the cheaper eldrazi from BfZ and Oath. The card will never see the light of day again.
It's about as good a time as I can imagine it being unless you can time travel. Shocks are one of the most sought after land types in all of magic and there are too many other cycles that need reprints such that I don't expect a reprint for at least 3 years, probably closer to 5. Shocks are more immune to the seasonal flux of other modern staples because they also see wide play in commander and casual, but they also probably aren't going to suddenly spike either. Sometimes you can find a store having a sale or get an ebay coupon where you could get them cheaper but barring that they are going to hold mostly steady with a very slow and long trend upwards.
If you don't plan on using them I'd for sure take it. That is closer to tcgmid price than it is low and they have shown that they will reprint desirable modern cards. It has been creeping up since the beginning of the year but considering the cut you usually take selling cards for cash, it would have to go up another $10 or so before you realistically missed value on them. In the mean time you can invest the $90 elsewhere.
If you might use them then I'd just keep them because if they miss out on the next masters, which isn't unlikely considering how niche they are, then they are going to clime closer to $50.
Sorry for missing the lions discussion, I just glanced over the thread while at work, but it is a welcome addition to the format. Outburst though is definitely the one I am most excited about. 100% auto include in every pauper cube.
I think jackal pup, hordeling outburst, savannah lions, and pillage are the most likely to make an impact on the format.
...So you're saying there's a chance?
Seriously though, wizards is not going to let us have caw-blade.
This has been true for literally years through both unstable and stable metas, all with white floundering about as the path, souls, SB color. SFM has been ripe for an unban for so long that I have just accepted it isn't something they are interested in having in the format. Otherwise I believe it would've come off in several instances over the past few years.
