You have no card draw and several 5 and 6 drops. I'd be playing 25 lands in that list, with somewhere between 5-8 utility lands. If you want to play 22 or 23 lands I'd cut all of the 5 and 6 drops.

This was years ago, but the easiest of my lists to link to http://www.mtgmintcard.com/mtg/decks/eventdecks/khans-of-tarkir-ptq-roanoke/jason-freischlag/wb-midrange

Notice I only had 2 cards over 3 mana and I also had 5 draw cards to help smooth things out. I still ran 24 lands.

What do you guys think of the new Crucible of Worlds? It'll fall in price, but will it bounce back? Is it even played anywhere in modern and legacy?

It sees some fringe play; it is more of an EDH card though. The price is going to absolutely plummet. It doesn't seem like it will be a serious player in standard, and even if it is, the amount of new supply is going to kill the price.

That depends what you mean by "bounce back". Every card that has lasting appeal outside of standard slowly creeps up after the post rotation crash. That will certainly be the case here as well but I expect the price to be in the ~$10 range a few months after the set release. My guess is we never see it approach anywhere close to what it was before the reprint was spoiled.

Any chance they had a few plans ready to go for the announcement tomorrow depending on how recent tournaments played out? Highly doubt modern changes tomorrow (I guess today) but SFM is about 8 ban announcements passed due so it would be refreshing if they did do something tomorrow.

Good points. Oh well I guess Eldrazi will just have to settle for 7th best deck in Modern (approximately)? So it goes.

I'd rather that over it being the only deck. The card is just way too powerful with the cheaper eldrazi from BfZ and Oath. The card will never see the light of day again.

Spot on Daeyel. I'm in the process of selling out most of my collection and just keeping a few decks for when I decide to play. No need for me to own every modern staple when I have no faith in the company. I've started playing Hex instead and I must say I enjoy it a lot more than I thought I would. The standard format is probably on par with the power level of MTG modern, if not a little higher, but they are smart enough to print answers to powerful cards. Not to mention it is a fraction of the cost. It scratches all the magic itch, right down to playing the finance game, with a lot less frustration.

Yeah maybe my 3-5 year estimate was a little much but I'd be shocked Wink to see them in the next year. If you can wait a year or two you are probably looking at a ~$6 drop.

A question on Breeding Pool.. I need one or two. Is this a good time to buy them? Thanks. Smile

It's about as good a time as I can imagine it being unless you can time travel. Shocks are one of the most sought after land types in all of magic and there are too many other cycles that need reprints such that I don't expect a reprint for at least 3 years, probably closer to 5. Shocks are more immune to the seasonal flux of other modern staples because they also see wide play in commander and casual, but they also probably aren't going to suddenly spike either. Sometimes you can find a store having a sale or get an ebay coupon where you could get them cheaper but barring that they are going to hold mostly steady with a very slow and long trend upwards.

Price question. Have three M11 Leyline of Sanctity in good condition. Someone wants to buy all three for 90 dollars. Sell now?

If you don't plan on using them I'd for sure take it. That is closer to tcgmid price than it is low and they have shown that they will reprint desirable modern cards. It has been creeping up since the beginning of the year but considering the cut you usually take selling cards for cash, it would have to go up another $10 or so before you realistically missed value on them. In the mean time you can invest the $90 elsewhere.

If you might use them then I'd just keep them because if they miss out on the next masters, which isn't unlikely considering how niche they are, then they are going to clime closer to $50.

If you ever get the slightest hint of this, call for a judge immediately and tell them your concerns. They may watch the entire game or not, but when it is a "he said she said" moment like this, I'd rather be the one instigating calling the judge since it makes you look less guilty.

Where was frenzied goblin printed at common? According to gatherer it has been an uncommon 3 times and that is it.

Sorry for missing the lions discussion, I just glanced over the thread while at work, but it is a welcome addition to the format. Outburst though is definitely the one I am most excited about. 100% auto include in every pauper cube.

frenzied goblin and savannah lions are the only other downgrades that I haven't seen discussed here. All in all we got some ok stuff but nothing completely game breaking in my opinion. Some decent cube upgrades most likely.

I think jackal pup, hordeling outburst, savannah lions, and pillage are the most likely to make an impact on the format.

Well, as someone who had Jace, and went out to pick up BBE to give them a spin..yeah it's just to play with powerful cards. Thats one of the many appeals in Modern. :]

Look at all the development, brewing, testing, that has come out of these cards, just 2 cards, but unlike the last 2 cards to come off as a set (AV/Sword) these did something.

If (and who knows at this point) Jace and BBE do nothing but power up some Tier 1.5/2 decks, or create some new ones to fill those levels of power (Ponza, BUG, RUG) then that would be a huge success to me.

If SFM can do the same? Why not! :]

Why not? Well because there's only so much usage to go around. Every deck that rises in usage comes at the cost of another deck or decks. Then the argument becomes, for instance, why is it more important for BUG to be good than WGR.

Oh, and there's constant brewing and testing in modern. All the unbans do, like bans, is create a different form of rotation. Modern as a format doesn't win, the only people who win this decision are the people who already owned BBE or Jace or bought them out and spiked the price. WOTC wins too, I guess, because I am entirely in the boat of that unban being used to sell M25.

Yeah...another worse deck. Or it powers up a weaker deck (say, Knightfall) and introduces another wrinkle to the format.

If the format wins or not when one deck rises and another falls, is completely personal opinion.

    ...So you're saying there's a chance?

Seriously though, wizards is not going to let us have caw-blade.

The idea that they can’t unban SFM because they may at some point mess up and pull another Batterskull sounds suspect to me as well. That would potentially break a number of decks, even if it would be better for SFM decks. Banning the new offender would be the better solution. (They didn’t ban Delver or Snapcaster; they banned Cruise, and that was the right call.)

This has been true for literally years through both unstable and stable metas, all with white floundering about as the path, souls, SB color. SFM has been ripe for an unban for so long that I have just accepted it isn't something they are interested in having in the format. Otherwise I believe it would've come off in several instances over the past few years.

I like the idea, but I haven't played EDH in awhile so I may be forgetting some reason why I wasn't always for it. I just think it gives you the ability to slightly alter your deck for playgroup powerlevel reasons legally, while also being good for hate cards in high power level metas.

Even with the territories you are running 10 lands that don't help you cast him and only 10 that can cast him. That does not seem like a good ratio for a double color requirement 2 drop that is best on curve.

I'd look into some sort of card advantage engine like snapcaster mage, cryptic command, kolaghan's command, or search for azcanta. Also collective brutality and logic knot are more generic answers that could fill the slots.
