I think it's more of a 'How dare you tell me what my priorities should be' thing from a former associate.
Side note: IF Sorin puts Nahiri in the Helvault, as seems to be the implication, it also means that Ob Nixilis has been on Zendikar for at least 1,000 years.

I think you are not taking into account that whatever the timeline, the flashback is set roughly 1000 years before the current events.
Sorin probably did create Avacyn a little time before being awakened by Nahiri's arrival (a littletime might mean even a few years).
At that time, Ugin was already dead/dormant and Sorin was not aware of that... Making the whole point of Sorin non wanting to check on the Eldrazi because he knows Ugin is dead pretty much irrelevant.
Quote from Jenrik »Sorin wouldn't have gone to Tarkir in search of Sorin if he didn't have an interest in re-sealing the Eldrazi for fear of their release, and threat to Innistrad.
Well, I'll just answer all three at once since you're all pointing in the general same direction.
Okay, I might have made it sound as though Sorin completely didn't care about the Eldrazi, which was not what I was trying to convey. I was trying to state that the only reason that Sorin did it back then that "quickly" was mainly because of Ugin and without Ugin's interference, it's apparently not very high on Sorin's priority list (or at all for several hundred years at least).
As mentioned, the timeframe between the Confrontation and Sorin's visit to Zendikar was about 998 years ago... I honestly doubt that Sorin even had "Check on Zendikar" on his priority list at all considering it took him about 1000 years since a direct confrontation to get him to actually check on Zendikar... and it also seems implied he had never returned to check on Nahiri/Zendikar the 5000 years between the sealing and confrontation either. It's really hard for me to even consider Sorin even had it on any priority lists considering he didn't bother in 5,000 years and it took him nearly a 1,000 after a direct confrontation to do so.
To put it in perspective it's like someone nagging you to clean your room and you did it about 5 years later and said it was a priority because someone told you five years ago. I know Sorin is more or less ageless as a Vampire, but I still feel the discrepancy in the time he didn't do anything too far apart to even consider that he had it on any priority.
I take back what I had thought about Sorin possibly lying about not hearing the alarm though... because now that I think about it, if he heard the alarm, he would know Ugin did as well, which might put him slightly more on edge than he would be during the confrontation. But I still don't think it took him 998 years (It took way less to seal the Titans) to fine-tune his Innistrad-Defenses and it's more of a lack of Ugin's presence got him to literally procrastinate checking on Zendikar for that long.
But Nahiri had just told him how she handled the problem herself, so really, there was no immediate danger anymore and no reason for hurry in Sorin's mind. To check the seal she could just as well go after Ugin like he suggests.
Later when Sorin shows up on Zendikar it is most likely because somehow he knew the eldrazi were escaping, otherwise he again would have no reason to do so.
