So, I guess we should clarify: If Geist of Saint Traft is declared as the only attacker and the opponent controls Lightmine Field, how much damage will be dealt to Geist?
The reason I said he seemed he had a differing opinion is because he told the OP that he wouldn't have anything to worry about in his scenario. But if angel and geist are counted for the damage, the geist would take 2 damage and die...which is something to be worried about! But that's getting off subject.
They would not take any damage. But how I read the ruling on gatherer, they would be used in counting the total damage done to other creatures. But it seems the poster above me has a differing opinion.
"On the other hand, if a creature is put onto the battlefield attacking (due to Preeminent Captain's ability, perhaps), it isn't dealt damage by Lightmine Field, but it is counted when determining the amount of damage."
So, the angel wouldn't take any damage, but geist would take 2, as I read it. BUt I could be wrong.
Wouldn't Champion of the Parish be good to have if you are able to get the Restoration Angel/Fiend Hunter combo cycle going on? Since fiend hunter is a human, Champion would get the 1/1 counters every time he was bought out during the combo. I say keep him as it keeps the door open to another combo. But I agree with most of what you said, and would edit the deck to something like the folowing, and it could probably use some tweaking.
You could probably drop down to 2 Seraph Sanctuary's and 22 plains if the mana becomes an issue, it's just there to give you another infinite life combo with Suture Priest.
Also taking out Avacyn's Pilgrim for another birds. Pilgrim was just in there as a ramp for regular mana...it was one of the few options I had when I started with this deck. The white mana serves no purpose for me.
This deck does pretty well but would like to try to take it to the next level, and I could really use some help. Budget is somewhat of an issue, but I can spend around $150, but would really like to keep it less than $100. Is a play set of Huntmasters a game changing difference? I think I will at least replace the evolving wilds for the dual lands, but what else can be done with this to bring it up to the next level?
I'm pretty sure the answer is yes, but I just want to make sure.
If you pay the evoke cost for a creature like Shriekmaw and then "blink" it with a spell like Cloudshift, would you get to keep the creature and get two of the ETB effects?
If you mean if all three were declared blockers then that would be a no. If they are all declared as blockers against it, they have a combined 9 toughness where as you only have 8 power going through.
If you just meant one was declared as a blocker, yeah...any damage more than their toughness would can carry over.
I was wondering the same thing until I saw Caravan Escort. Makes you realize that if the level 1 is on the second line then it must enter as a level zero.
Hey guys, it seems my LGS is mainly playing modern now. We run both a standard and a modern tourney but we barely get 8 people to play a standard tourney where as modern has 20+. So instead of investing in my standard deck, I would like to take a shot at modern and play with the larger crowd.
I'm wiling to play any type of deck, but would probably enjoy the more aggressive deck. I have about a $200 budget. I've been trying to look up decks that do well but most of the ones I've seen have been $500 or more. I know these posts get old, and I have tried searching around here but not too much luck. Any ideas what would be a fun competitive deck for $200 or less?
If I use something like Act of Treason on a creature that is equipped, say Sharpened Pitchfork, does the equipment stick with the creature? Can I then use the equip ability on the equipment to move it to another creature I control? Will the equipment go back to the original owner if I do?
Along the same lines, does this also work with Mind Control, that is stealing equipment from my opponent by stealing the creature it's attached to?

Does this mean if an attacking creature is regenerated, it will not do damage to any blocking creatures?

No, you do not gain control of the equipment.
