A deck is like a set of golf clubs.
A great deck in the hands of a great player is great, a great deck in the hands of a mediocre player is okay.
A bad deck in the hands of a great player is okay, a bad deck in the hands of a bad player is bad.
Maybe you're just middle-of-the-road skillwise at your FNM. You're so far ahead of the bottom ~50% that it doesn't matter what you play, but you're still struggling to break through that top half.
I'd build a sideboard for it, then find out who the owner is and give them the 75. I wouldn't give it to the store owner unless I trusted him, but I would leave them with my name and number.
Where do you play again, so I can leave my deck around you?
My friend had a mox pearl stolen from him years ago. The kid who took it can never play magic in Arkansas again, but it was never returned to him.
Another friend had his backpack stolen at a draft at Jim Hanley's in NYC. Luckily he had taken out all his binder and all they got was an empty backpack.
Some card shops are safer than others. Seems all of you have the good ones =)
You're in AR? Where do you play?
Glad to see most people would return, btw.
Obviously everyone is going to say A. No one will really admit to being a thief.
A, though. I'm too new to come even close to wanting to take any stupid risks, and people at my LGS have been extremely nice to me. Nothing is worth burning those bridges.
Yeah, I'll probably start as a, as www123 put it, "kitchen-table player". Sadly, AFAIK, there's no official support for the game over here. So I'm not really sure about the size or how "competitive" the scene is. But from past experiences, as long as it's big enough, the players will be up to date with meta, whether there is official support or not.
Anyhow, I think I'll go with the W/B token deck as some of you suggested for now and see what I can do later on after I get more accustomed to the game. Looking at the cards some of you mentioned and looking at the card lists of the recent sets, it seems like I should be investing in in all of the recent sets(Dark Ascension, Innistrad and 2012) more than I should Avacyn Restored for this.
Where do you live? I'd be willing to bet that you have a scene there! I didn't think there'd be anything here, and it turns out friday night magic gets 30 people!
I went to my first event last night, it was a blast. I actually went 3-2. Turns out my local scene is actually filled with a few really, really, good people. (Well, I'm not sure how rare attending a GP is.) My first opponent was one of them and he actually gave me about $40 worth of cards, as well as helped me fix my deck!
Anyways, as far as my collection goes, I'm sitting on about 1k cards from opening a few boxes, and already 3/4ths to a tier one b/u Zombie deck. This was attributed greatly by the fact that I pulled 2x Tamiyo, the Moon Sage and 1x foil Bonfire of the Damned
Thanks everyone for their help! I really enjoy it.
Also, what are good temporary replacements for Liliana, sword of war and peace, and obliterator? Wanna build a bit cheaper temporary deck and work up to that one
The deck will be good even after the AVR release. It's one of the best decks in Standard right now and will last you until October without having to make too many changes. It's actually a good deck to start the game with as the cards arent too expensive and the deck is really resilient and versatile.
If you don't plan on running Obliterator there's Cavern of Souls in AVR that fits the deck very well. Try getting some of these next week.
Hmm, that link says it's about the same price as Obliterator.
anyways, why is a land a replacement for Obliterator? I don't quite understand the card "choose a creature type"? (I'm honestly clueless, but I just started yesterday, I'm really liking the concept of this deck a LOT.)
Going to AVR release tonight. Gonna see if they have darkslick/drowned catacomb. And maybe the sword and peace/liliana's!
Obviously, things like Phyrexian Obliterator are expensive, and the deck runs relatively well without them, they make the deck mush more consistent and threatening
I could definitely put something like that together. Do you think that kind of deck is going to be viable after AVR releases? I mainly just plan on going to FNM's and stuff like that.

"Hey guys, the car I bought from you doesn't run"
"I drive a Veyron Bugatti and it runs just fine, you might want to update your car or something."
See how that works?
Also things like mana leak are useless, as you'll be tapped out every time anyways.
Zombie Apocalypse is also terribad.
In the "b/x" zombies thread, there is a really good b/u zombies decklist from Richard Parker.
And a lot of those cards are illegal.
You can pretty easily search the prices, it's less effort than posting.
Tibalt: 25$
Girselbrand: 12$
Technically you're 3$ out, but as long as you're happy, it's a fair trade!

4x gravecrawler
4x gerolf's messanger
4x Disregaf Captain
4x Tragic slip
1x Mikaeus, the Unhallowed
Worth keeping the tragic slips in there?
