Yeah i guess if your opponents just gonna sit there and not disrupt you or try to stop you... yeah i guess shes pretty solid..... i think id rather play just about any other planeswalker...id certainly rather play either of the other 2 lilianas..
shes not even that scary in limited... I basically crap my pants if i see garruk primal hunter or jace memory adept.. but liliana is like.. ok go ahead get a swamp...
don't forget that she dismembers. and she also has a +1 with no downside. Sure, She might not see constructed play in competitive events, but It's not a bad card by any means.
How is it a blame-the-user defense? What does that even mean?
It is not your opponents fault if you can't keep an eye on their lands beyond the mana symbol in the textbox. This card has recognizable art, a rare symbol, is foil and is called Dryad Arbor. I will be overjoyed whenever I benefit from an opponent thinking its a Forest.
It means that it's wizards of the coast's responsibility to make it as easy as possible for players of the game to recognize the game state, and saying that "well the players should just pay more attention" is putting that responsibility on the players, (the users)
And no, It's not your opponents fault if you see their dryad arbor and assume that it's a forest, BUT you can make the case that it's at least partially the fault of Wizards.
Agreed 100%. I don't understand what exactly wizards is trying to achieve, but obviously they must have a very well-concocted plan that involves turning standard into the worst format ever. Maybe afterwards the next standard will feel awesome by comparison, even being only "ok".
Cards have too much individual power, interactions are becoming less important, formats gravitate towards ignoring the opponent (and no, combo doesn't really do this, it's mostly a lie)... Meh...
There has not been an actual control deck in standard since TSP/LOR, and that went away as soon as Morningtide came out and tempo/aggro became the new best thing. It wasn't even that great of a deck, either, only winning a GP because nobody saw it coming at all. Before that, there weren't any real control decks since 7th was in.
Angelfire wasn't a control deck. Faeries wasn't a control deck. Five Color "Control" wasn't a control deck. Delver isn't a control deck. Those are all tempo decks that have a strong reliance on aggro to perform optimally. Sonic Boom is the only exception to the complete lack of real control we've had in a decade.
Before Zendikar rotated, UB control was a thing, even after it rotated, you had people playing decks who's sole win condition was nephalia drownyard.
There were UW control decks with Gideon Day of Judgement, Jace, etc
Why exactly is stoneforge mystic especially broken? Is it because everyone uses her to get eldrazi monstrosities, or what? That's pretty broken, but it seems like a drop in the bucket all things considered.
I'm into amateur design, so I'd like to talk about concepts too -- even if not specific cards. For example, what's so bad about hexproof?
with a single 2 mana card, you could both tutor equipment from your deck AND it vial it into play.
If your opponent is playing sloppy with their hand, and they hold cards in such a way that you can see the cards, is it cheating to look at those cards?
A game can be very simple while at the same time being very deep. Both Chess and Go are fairly simple games. They're simpler than most video games by far, but they are also very deep and very skill intensive.

I'm actually going to get it at a little bit below the MSRP
Also, Always use a play-mat to protect your other play-mat

the whole "Just pay more attention" defense is a blame-the-user defense, and it pains me to see such an attitude in any community.
What rock have you people been living under where highly interactive and/or strategically complex cards such as whipflare, vapor snag, tragic slip, birthing pod, snapcaser mageand restoration angel have not been in tier 1 decks?
ITT: Blue players *****ing about blue not being the strongest color, because if blue isn't the strongest color in the format, you know it's broken.

For reference, for spells with more than 1 target, it will still resolve so long as at least 1 target is still there

Q.E.D.
Isn't the "team America" deck BUG?
