Omniscience is one card that from the moment it was spoiled just sounded broken, but can it really be as broken as some might think? Is it to0 broken? Is it even Ban worthy?
First off I do not believe it to be ban worthy, I also find it to be just broken enough to play it, but not enough to be an automatic scoop to its play.

    The Name:
    Wikipedia definition has it as:
"Omniscience (pron.: /ɒmˈnɪʃəns/[1]), mainly in religion, is the capacity to know everything that there is to know. In particular, Hinduism and the Abrahamic religions (Judaism, Christianity, Baha'i and Islam) believe that there is a divine being who is omniscient. An omniscient point-of-view, in writing, is to know everything that can be known about a character, including past history, thoughts, feelings, etc. In Latin, omnis means "all" and sciens means "knowing"."
In other words the card was named after the concept of all knowingness.(not a word, but oh well) So you figure its ability does fit the name, and more or less it does to a point (but thats later on in the post).

    The Mana Cost:
    :7mana::symu::symu::symu:
in other words a CMC 10. Holy Cow!! TEN? who would want a ten cost in their deck? (well i try to keep a eldrazi in any deck i have to keep milling decks at bay so i guess i do.)And i answer myself, someone that can find its weakness' and strengths.

    the Rarity:
Why am I putting the rarity in a post about some card? Simple, it helps put the card in context. If this card was a CMC 10 as a common or uncommon, then it would be completely broken and i wouldn't have mush to say since Wotc probably would never have made it. Instead it's a MYTHIC RARE, in other words harder to find in a pack than anything else. Mythic rare means maybe four or five in a booster box of 36 packs.

    the Type:
Enchantment. in other words it needs to be countered or targeted to be exiled or destroyed (which who doesn't have permanent removal in their deck?)

    the Effect:
Here we go the most important part of the post, why I'm making a post on the card, the effect.

"You may cast nonland cards from your hand without paying their mana costs."

first off it is a "may" ability, very important, plays into the name more, " I can play everything in my hand,(and hope i have enough draw to play my deck, since i just became the biggest target in the game), but i might not, I am now Omniscient."

"Cast nonland cards from your hand without paying their mana cost."
Yes, i underlined, bolded, and Made the size big for a reason. this is the Black hole of the effect, the major problem. You MUST plan ahead, build around it. however, also it means any spell you have in your hand is playable for free.

    the Pros:
lets get the Obvious out of the way, you get to play what ever you want when you want. the end, good day sirs and Misses.

    the Cons:
First off and I have already said, guess what, you are now the biggest target on the board, you are now going to be hit by between 1 and 4+ people. thus YOU MOST BE ABLE TO WIN THAT TURN!!!!!!! In other words, you see the first massive hole in this card, you have to play it and win, else you will lose, no matter what, PERIOD!
Second off, remember when i had "nonland" bolded and and everything. Here is where i explain why that is the biggest black hole problem of the deck. you have between 20 and 40 land in your deck, which means with every draw you have a 30-40% chance of hitting a land. (foreshadowing!)
Third off, you MUST build around it, you can't through it in a deck like Kozilek. Personally the best deck to put it into is Damia, her effect means you draw until you have seven, problem is you draw until you have seven cards.
why is this a problem? simple the odds on drawing land, say you play your whole hand and draw seven next upkeep, you have a 3-4 out of 7 chance to draw land, so you have 3-4 cards to play, and you can keep drawing land every turn.
Fourth off (wah? four?), contrary to popular belief Omniscience is NOT A ONE CARD COMBO, OR A ONE CARD WIN!!!!!!! I sure some of you are thinking I'm and idiot, I'd like to say, I'm not. you play Omniscience and you cast your hand, now you have no hand and only your field to protect you, and you being Omnipotent, are now the biggest target. "But what are you talking about, you can play what ever you want from your hand, you can totally win right then and there," some of you may say....Alright lets say you are running Omniscience in Damia the stone sage, and lets also say you have either tooth and nail or Mikaeus, the unhallowed and Triskelion, cool you just auto-winned, but think about it, Omniscience didn't make you win, you have been tutoring or lucky drawing the cards needed to win. Omniscience is and ENABLER!!!! pure and simple. to make omniscience actually useful you have to be able to draw your deck, or tutor for the win. lets go back to Damia or even more simple Momir Vig(or any other Blue/Green general), the best card to make Omniscience is Recycle. Play a spell, draw a card. BUT wait theirs more! remember the odds on drawing land, land is now dead weight, how do we fix this Azusa, lost but seeking or any discard creature, or enchantment, maybe even artifacts. In other words YOU MUST BUILD AROUND IT! what is that the second time I've said this, well guess what its true, once i thought that is was simply a two card combo use it with Null Profusion win, that's when i found the hole. I was playtesting a Damia deck for my friend, and hit a mana pocket. that's when i realized that with Profusion, i just lost. I drew land and found my self boned. that's when i overhauled the thing to be built around Omniscience.

Since its spoiling, I have loved this card, and wanted to have it in what ever deck i could. Now that I've found the holes, I've learned you have to build around it. Is the card broken yes to a point. Is it to broken, i honestly don't think so. Is it ban worthy, Nope.Having said all of that, those answers are my opinion. Some guy that can't take his loses, might campaign for its Banning in EDH, but hopefully this blog post will help people realize Omniscience is not totally Omniscient.
