Whenever a +1/+1 counter is placed on another permanent you control, you may pay G and/or U. If you pay G, create a 0/1 plant creature token. If you pay U, draw a card.
Cathar's crusade and opalesence for one, for another, literally any counter increasing card and cathar's crusade. My point is that Cathar's crusade is useful. And I know you said non-infinite, but opalesence and journey to nowhere, or the "exile a creature until this enchantment leaves the battlefield" is useful, especially if you have things that trigger on a creature entering the battlefield. You can even end it at any time by exiling something else.
I came up with a simple three card combo to use the chain veil infinitely, in modern: Tezzeret the Seeker, Nissa Worldwaker, and the chain veil itself. You should also probably have prismatic omens in the deck, for mana, but yeah. After that, you just add in one other PW, and suddenly they can go nuts, going off millions of times in a turn if you felt like it.
The dragon would work perfectly in my ramp deck, coupled with Increasing Savagery. I'm surprised none of you thought of that combo. Seriously, 5 mana for an 8/8 with flying? Yes, thank you.
At this point, definitely the Craterhoof Behemoth. I've already built a deck that's getting some tweaks as the set is spoiled. Though it's only using 2 AVR cards at this point.
I think it looks doable...but no Copperhorn scout? Take put Garruk's Horde x2, add 2 copperhorns. Hell, -1 cloudshift and 2 dawntreader elks, then you can go 4 copperhorn and 4 emissary.
MAX OUT YOUR ELVES.
Hadn't thought about the copperhorns, but I want to keep the ramp at max, in case of death. Maybe -2 G. Horde, -1 cloudshift, -1 dawntreader for the copperhorns?

If you would create a token, and you control at least two more lands than each opponent, create 3 of those tokens instead.
