My lgs just got an email from wizards with preorder information and they are limiting it to 18 boxes for the store. There is no indication that this is a one time only thing and they may be offering more every week, but initially, at least from wizards directly, they are capping it at 18 boxes.
i wish magic players would stop trying to be funny. 95% of magic podcasts are almost too irritating to listen to because of all the unfunny jokes, awkward laughing at those unfunny jokes, and stretching the unfunny joke for 45 seconds longer than necessary.
This.
Not to mention the OP is completely off, if you're going to make some sort of metaphor to make a statement at least make sure you're making one that compares two similar things.
Not sure if you are just being a sarcastic troll but excuse me?
First off, the card clearly has to be in modern design given that its going to see print in a modern designed set? I don't even....
Second, blue is the only color that gets nonconditional counterspells. White can sometimes get it, but its often overcosted and soft.
Yea.. I'm beginning to think people don't understand we're designing a real card for a real set that's going to be in Standard and effect Modern, and that they're unlikely to pick cards designed on old systems/ways of design that they've long-since abandoned due to a large list of reasons.
Other than my own design - which seeks to permit everyone to cast spells out of everyone else's graveyard - this is my favorite submission I've seen in this thread. Why?
(1) Simple, so simple.
(2) The mutuality of it prevents it from being busted. A Crucible of Worlds for your creatures would be absurd and broken unless it cost a bajillion mana; four mana for a mutual effect seems very possible.
(3) Very powerful, likely able to spawn new archetypes.
(4) Puts Enduring Renewal into the right place in the color pie.
(5) Combo potential, but not any worse than other cards (see Enduring Renewal) that exist at the same casting cost.
and
(6) Absolutely crushes Control, who won't be able to take advantage of it the way an aggro deck can. This might not normally be a plus, but considering how WotC wants the game to be all about creatures...
Bravo, bravo. I wouldn't mind at all if my submission gets binned before voting as long as yours is there to vote on.
I second this, love the design, its something I had considered as well. Its simple, effective, and powerful.
My only fear is it may be too powerful, the card advantage would be really high, but there's plenty of enchant hate available to counter it.
I'm just thinking of infinite sac outlets with 0 cost creatures and the insanity. Crucible doesn't have that problem due to the lands-per-turn restriction.
... just remember peeps, this could be one of the historical moments, where Black could actually get something which destroys enchantments.
Maro has said they'll never print Enchantment destruction in black as long as he has a choice in the matter because then it would become a must-run in all black decks in multiple formats.
This isn't our chance to break the color pie, its our chance to make something cool within it that we'd actually want to play.
Well I would offer up some of my own card designs but the eternal optimist in me wants to hold onto them until the inevitable day when I'm working for WotC
Flash.
Whenever an opponent counters a spell you control, instead that spell is not countered and you may copy that spell. You may choose new targets for the copy.
That is as RU or GR as you're going to get in a spell lol
Do you work for WotC? I'm pretty sure YMTC was designed to let the players dream and submit what they would like to see on a card broken or not. Do you honestly believe they're going to pull someone's card word for word? They do this for concepts and black is notorious for using life as a resource so why is it farfetched to you that this is coming up from the player base?
Also, do you want a playable card or do you want some crappy enchantment that wasted everyone's time putting in submissions? Personally, i could care less about lazy design; paying life for stuff in black is exactly where black roots itself.
TL;DR: Take a chill pill and stop crushing these poster's dreams.
Using life to cast any spell or creature, no matter what ratio, isn't a poster's "dream" its everyone's nightmare. I'm not crushing anything. They can submit whatever they want, but they should probably read back and see half of every page is something like that before posting it here.
Seconding, this is what I've heard as well.
Its a highly limited version of Urabrask for the red one for instance.
If they weren't commons, I'd care more, but since they're commons they're going to be overcosted for their effects.
Take an opponent's permanent, sacrifice it.
"When a creature you control attacks, return ~ to your hand. RR: Bloodrush +4/+1"
Necro's fine, I still work on this from time to time
Glad to see someone likes Ambush, my only worry is that it causes a stalled boardstate rather than an active one.
Edit: Nevermind, no they really aren't.
This.

I wish I had your optimism =(
Can we just discuss card designs?

Then blame your own country's laws. Typically they're why countries get excluded in contests.
