Do you live in the 50's? Cause the only thing college gives non-rich kids nowadays is insurmountable debt.

And I won't even waste words on the rest of your sociopathic rant. I'll just say you should really appreciate what you have because *******s like yourself will make sure you suffer for "not working your lazy ass hard enough" if you ever loose it all to illness or accident.

Education is still the best way to better yourself even if colleges have become businesses like any other. There are two ways to get something: you either earn it or you STEAL IT. People like you don't believe you can do anything for yourself so you think everything you want should come from others. Guess what? People don't care about you. They will never take away from their family to give to you. And when you try to steal it from them they'll fight you.
And for the record *******, I have been gravely ill and guess what? That education that you seem to think is so worthless allowed me to save enough money to survive on while I was recovering and because I'm actually good at what I do I was able to keep my job. I may have been set back slightly but that's better than rolling over and giving up which seems to be the "No, I can't" attitude you have.

Please don't insult other users and don't evade the censor. -TK

Sigh... When are people going to realize that the answers to solving problems having to do with money doesn't always boil down to "work harder" and "you're entitled!"? And all your allegories are wasted here because while you're regaling all sorts of underdogs making it big through hard work, and rich people falling through their own failings, the HARD fact remains that circumstances of birth almost always determine one's social status later in life. Yes, change can happen, but it's EXCEEDINGLY rare.

So because you believe it's rare you think you shouldn't try and that everything should be made available equally across the board? Yes, circumstances of birth can play a large role in the direction your life goes but I live in the United ****ing States of America where a child can be born to dirt poor parents but go to school and work his/her little ass off and earn scholarships to schools the parents could never afford where that child can get an education that will give them opportunities to raise themselves and subsequently their children and their children's children out of the squalor they had to endure. You think that because it's difficult and requires sacrifice that it shouldn't even be attempted?!?!?!?!? That's the wonderful thing about Capitalism; it gives people the opportunity to lift themselves up unlike all the other philosophies that believe that it's better to pull people DOWN so that everyone is equally miserable. People who are unwilling to help themselves don't deserve to live the same lifestyles as those that work hard and apply themselves. Period.

And the comparison between Ferraris and Magic cards are not accurate. First of all, Ferraris have components and workmanship costs that make up a large portion of what you're getting. Additionally, new Ferraris are not expensive because of their rarity, but rather the demand for a Ferrari (which is what SHOULD be true for Magic cards). Furthermore, Ferraris are sold directly from the manufacturer for a set price. Ferraris won't rise in price because people "buy them all" or fix the prices. If you need to drive, almost any other car will drive as well (or better) than a Ferrari. Finally, Ferraris appeal solely to a small demographic of rich, upper class people. Magic's target demographic SHOULD in theory be more accessible, because it's in Magic's best interests to promote an air of diversity. I for one, would not like to try and get all the people at my store to play Modern, hear them go "too rich for my blood", and then see where I can find upper class people, coming largely from upper class backgrounds playing what soon becomes an upper class game. At this point, I'll direct you to some of my previous posts:

If WotC truly did not want a price barrier to exist then they would not have the different rarities, there wouldn't be a set amount of each card printed. They would likely randomize it and if by some chance it turned out that Goyf was printed in a quantity that would place it in a "common" category then that's wonderful for the players. Except that's not how they do it. They design a card, they playtest it, they determine it's power level, and then decide at what rarity/quantity to print it. Sometimes they get it wrong and a powerful card is printed in a larger quantity at a lower rarity but usually they will print the best cards in lower numbers because they want people to want them, to purchase large numbers of packs/boxes to get those cards. If all the cards were equally easy to get then WotC would make less money and being a business they will more often than not base their decisions on $$$'s. And frankly, you don't get to decide what they should and shouldn't do and for all you know they might be perfectly fine with MTG becoming an "upper class game" since that's where the people with the greatest disposable income is and those people will have children that might play the game(with their well-to-do parents footing the bill.) Do you know about Abercormbie & Fitch? They've come right out and said that they do not market to fat people and that their target demographic are the beautiful and thin. They have no desire to market plus sized clothing and accept that they are limiting their potential for revenue(and their growth as a company) because of this decision. Using your thoughts they SHOULD in theory market clothing that appeals to everyone because it's in their best interest to promote an air of diversity. They have chosen their niche and for all you know, WotC may have as well although they're likely smart enough to not declare it publicly.

EDIT: And what I'm posting here isn't going against the fact that Magic is an "upper class game". Rather, I'm saying that Magic in many ways can be an "upper class game", and making the game more accessible is in EVERYONE's best interests. This is part of the reason why so many players have historically played Standard and Limited; the cost for getting into older formats has almost always been too high. IN FACT, if Wizards is supporting a non-Standard, non-Limited format this hard, then it should be their RESPONSIBILITY to make sure it is accessible. And apparently Modern Masters is Wizards' way of saying that they agree with this sentiment.

It's funny that their decision to print more of the cards used in non-Standard, non-Limited will likely do very little to make the cards easier to get since the MSRP is almost NEVER followed. Check out some of the preorder prices for Modern Masters? I doubt that's making the format more accessible to many. It's similar to the FTV and Commander's Arsenal; WotC's "gift" to the players to allow them to play with cards that would otherwise be difficult to get. How well does that work? I wonder how many people have seen these products at MSRP even once. You didn't like the car analogy but the fact remains that there are different categories of virtually everything and just because you want access to the best doesn't mean you'll get it. Standard is cheapest and therefore easiest to get into followed by Modern, and then Legacy. Similarly, your first car is likely going to be a cheap beater, later on you get a better job and can now afford to get something more desirable, get promoted a couple times and make even more money and you can finally get that Ferarri(which in terms of money and some might argue prestige would be Legacy) you've always wanted. Once again, WotC is a business and I think they know EXACTLY what they're doing and who they're going after whether you like or agree with it or not. At any rate, you're firmly entrenched in your beliefs so there really isn't much point in talking to you any further.

You can play any format you like regardless of the cost. However, if you want to play competitively you will need the high dollar cards. Can't afford it? Play casually. Play Pauper. I wanted a more stable mana base for an EDH deck so know what I did? I did actual manual labor digging a drainage ditch to earn extra money. I could have made do with four basic lands instead but I was willing to make a sacrifice(time/effort) to get what I wanted. I didn't demand WotC reprint duals so the price would come down; I worked for them.

It's not a matter of fairness because children that enjoy the game can't likewise work for the money it takes to play with better cards. If anything I'd argue that it might be good for them to understand that simply because you want something it doesn't mean it should be made available to you for little or nothing. In life there are needs and wants. Food, water, clothing, and medical are all needs. Without them you'll likely die. Everything else is by definition a want and you have to not just work hard for them but extra hard. People value what they have to work for. Don't believe me then look at all the people with entitlement attitudes that are handed everything without giving up anything. The college student that flunks out because his/her wealthy parents are footing the bill while the student is out nothing, or on the flip side with the person that's on every welfare program known to man that thinks because their rent/food/cell phone/etc is paid for then anything else they want should be given to them as well.

If you can't afford to play the game the way you'd like to then it might not be the game for you. Save yourself the aggravation and get a cheaper hobby. Now if you'll excuse me, I'm going to go write a letter to Ferrari demanding that they drop the price of their newest model to a more affordable $22,500 since I enjoyed driving the one an old friend allowed me to try so much. It probably wouldn't have worked with WotC and the duals but who knows, maybe I'll get lucky. Fingers crossed!

I almost think I'd have liked her a little more if she was a 6/6 flying vigilance trample rampage 2 everything you control is indestructible for the same cost. At least to me it shows that she's not there just to defend you but to actively seek out and destroy and a simple 1/1 flying token won't be enough to stop her. The lower power/toughness on defense would perhaps give people attacking you a better chance as well since you'd have such an advantage with the indestructibility.

So, SCG has her pre-ordering at $15. If she drops to about half that, I'll consider proactively picking up a copy. Other than that, I'll only trade for her.

I'd go $10 since I want them for EDH and the indestructibility is a powerful ability that forces people to remove her in specific ways(which of course exist in abundance in EDH anyway but still). I have about $20 in ebay bucks though so I might be willing to go a little higher since it won't be as much coming out of my pocket for a playset. All depends on how crazy the hype gets

EDH will most definitely love her but most people who've been playing awhile probably won't be worried with all of the exiling and tucking that goes on

Anyone know if there's a book about this block? It'd be nice...that is, unless it's written by the same guy who did Zendikar and Mirrodin

Took me about 20 tries but finally got lucky. After you do get it open share about 40-50 times them while keeping the window open give it about five minutes so you don't get the warning

After voting hundreds of times this is what I finally got, ‎"It looks like you’re using this feature in a way it wasn’t meant to be used. Please slow down, or you could be blocked from using it." It still let me share but then I had to input a captcha
