He did wrathed and the mono-blue just played a judges familiar and a nightveil and bashed in for 5 with Thassa the turn after it.
Honestly I was being playful as I didn't see the match. People were in here arguing yesterday this deck was basically "bad" and had zero game against any control decks... therefore would never last in this format because it's an auto scoop against control.
Which was proven to be horribly false this morning....
I don't think erebos is very good personally. his ability isn't very efficient at all, you'll barely ever make him a creature unless you're bulked up on stuff like desecration demon and underworld connections main, and the life gain static ability isn't very relevant.
I disagree with the bolded part - I think the lifegain clause is very relevant.
I'm not a fan of Erebos for other reasons (mostly - I don't care for his activated ability and I find I don't hit the devotion consistently enough) but using him as a SB card (at worst) against control really does wonders. I've had control players down to a few life before they sphinx for 7 putting the game out of reach - that wouldnt be a problem if Erebos was on the table. Furthermore, control already has to be careful loading up their hand with a stormbreath dragon on the board.
Erebos is a nice filler card as a 1 of in my opinion, he won't be a core part to the deck but he can sure make things easier against certain decktypes.
Top 8 Verona confirms what I've been saying since GTC release: speed decks especially red seem to be put out of the equation and more controllish builds shine. Even faster than I expected.
I don't understand how you can state this as fact. Didn't the last GP in Quebec City get steamrolled by a Naya Blitz aggro deck? The truth is, the meta is completely wide open with a variety of "top decks", and it is very much dependent on things like the current meta in that area, the pairings, sideboard choices, your first 7 cards and the pilot. You can win with almost any tier 1 deck right now if you are experienced and luckily enough. Junk Reanimator just crushed Verona, so we can probably say that's another tier 1 deck to add to the list (but doesn't mean something like Zombies or Naya Blitz won't win the next major event).

Yeah.. Bad player is bad nothing more to see here.

So you won against one deck, one time, and you just automatically deem "it sucks".... without any real knowledge of how it works.
Gotchya.
I'm glad we had this conversation, helps me "filter" out posts in the future.
