Weaver of Lightning is strickly better in my opinion. It's easier to cast, better stats, and it actually does something other than just sit there if you are on the dfencsive. Sure, it has one les toughness, but i think a 1/4 is way better than a 0/5 with defender.
Opaque sleeves, but all my cards are double sleeved with a Perfect Fit sleeve as well. I don't mind having to take the card out when it is transformed, the Perfect Fit protects it just fine.
I don't think it would be a sane choice to name it that. It could be confused with white creatures that are snakes. I'm sure there are some out there....It would seem quite bonkers if there weren't.
Unearth would be better than this, despite the drawback of only getting back 3 CMC creatures. At least you can cycle it when there is nothing in your graveyard that you want back right now.
Essentially does the same thing and has a more relevant body.
I can't imagine a format where I'd play Rackling... just seems so low-impact.
Agreed. I'm pretty sure I would just straight up play The Rack over this card. It would have to be a build around type of format, with lots of black discard. Wrench Mind and the like. Doesn't seem worth it to me.
I'm pretty sure I would play Dwarven Miner over this card. You are most likely going to destroy non-basic lands anyway with something like this. I still wouldn't cube either card... Goblin Ruinblaster used to be in my cube, I feel like that would be a better replacement as well.
I've been kind of anxious to pre-order the new foils from this set. I can't find any big vendors that are pre-ordering foils yet. Has anyone found a site or seen some prices on the foils from this set yet?
Since they are trying to push the enchantment theme, any chance of the green enchantress as well? Probably not, I can see them reprinting Yavimaya Enchantress over it.
Well, since there's not a lot to talk about (yet), let's discuss Gaea's Blessing for a bit.
I know I will try to cram it in somehow, even if it's just for nostalgia's sake. The card is not the best ever, but I can see it working out in grindy control decks. The funny thing is that it doesn't really fit in most dredge/graveyard decks because most of the time these decks don't really want to dredge the card away.
Pretty sure I would rather cube Elixir of Immortality over Blessing, it's easier to setup and seems like a better benefit to me.
I feel like Cabal therapy would only be worth it if you have already seen the opponent's hand through a Gitaxian Probe type of card or after Duress has been played. Seems like too much work to me.
The Graveborn Animate Dead is pretty bad. WotC did say that the cards will have a "premium foiling process", which scares me. I was no fan of Modern Masters 2015's foiling. I'm just hoping it's not that bad, I really want a foil Baleful Stryx from this set in my cube.
First, I think that this is a great idea. The Peasant Forum has relatively little to talk about when there is not a new set being released.
I run 540 with both this and Read the Bones, I don't see WoTC printing anything more efficient than this for a black card draw spell (anything more efficient would be OP). To echo _I0, it would be best in a midrange/control build, although I don't like it in B/U control. Blue tends to have better card draw, but I'll play Wisper if my pool is lacking a Mulldrifter,Deep Analysis or Treasure Cruise.
The randomness and the fact that it can hit lands is exactly why some people think it is unfun and unfair. If you have three lands in your hand, play one of them and then Hymn lets you discard the other two it ends the game on the spot. And there is no skill or fun involved when something like this happens, it's just (bad) luck. Hymn can be anything between an ok card and completely devastating depending on your luck. I still run it because I have fond memories of it and most of the time it's only very good, but not overpowered. But it is on my watchlist and I can see why some people would want to remove it.
I do agree that it can be ok, with card advantage to completely devastating like you said. If it were completely devastating all the time, it would definitely be removed. I will keep an eye on it as well, thanks for the insight.

He's not the only one. Should we get a thread started now for "Enchantments Matter"? I hear one coming....
