Just for the record, I was under the impression that my original example would follow something like this:
-Player B declares their attacking creatures and nothing happens or triggers at this moment ("its just a declaration not the attack itself");
-Stack resolves:
A) Reclamation Sage would come in and resolve destroying shiny impetus;
B) Next thing would be for shiny impetus to check if its triggered ability condition was met, but since there is no more shiny impetus (because it was destroyed), nothing happens;
-Attacking creature hits its targets;
But based on your replies, what actually happens is that the moment Player B declares their attacking creatures, Reclamation Sageshiny impetus immediately checks if its triggering conditions are met (in this case, they did) and puts that effect in the stack making it eventually resolve not mattering if by then the card is still in play or not. Is that it?
I think I get it, but man its hard to get my head around this...
I suppose then that this can also happen in other phases/steps of the game regarding other card interactions, correct? If that is the case could you give me an example?
Sorry if this a dumb request somehow, I'm just trying to get a clearer picture.
I was watching this video of people playing commander and there was one play outcome that I couldn't really understand. It is easier if you you guys click the link and see it in action but basically the part that matters runs like this:
-player A has a Tidal Barracuda in play (so everyone has flash);
-player B attacks player A with a creature currently enchanted by shiny impetus (the person who enchanted the creature originally was player C);
-player A immediately responds by flashing in Reclamation Sage and choosing to target shiny impetus with its ETB effect, therefore destroying it.
Here is my question then:
-Given this sequence of events, should player C still receive a treasure token because the creature enchanted with shiny impetus attacked someone? In the video he does indeed end with a token, but wouldn't the enchantment be destroyed before its effect could trigger? I'm really confused about how the stack is working here.
I'm quite sure the answer to this question is "no", but I wanted to check: Smuggler's Copter, when crewed, does not trigger Soul Warden like abilities, correct?
I'm also wondering if my Reckless Charges are indeed the right cards to have in there. I mean, considering the deck as a whole, wouldn't Lightning Bolt serve the same purpose while being more reliable? Or even maybe dropping them all together for more defenders.
First of all, let me make it clear that my friends and I play this "modern-legacy-budget-just for fun" type format that you all should be used to at some extent, heh, so this deck doesn't really need to be that competitive, it just needs to work well enough.
With that in mind, I have been working on a deck based on Brion Stoutarm lookalikes and Defenders. To some extent I like what I have put together, but I also fear that it is way to static and lacking variety in winning conditions, specially given that, at most times, I need to hit my basic combos at least twice to win the game. So I was wondering how could I diversify my deck (maybe adding some creatures that can actually attack, maybe adding more versatile useful 1/2 drops, idk). Could you guys help me out? (oh, and let's try to keep it cheap ok?)
Hello all,
so my friend and I decided to challenge ourselves to build what we call as "ultra pauper" decks (no card should cost more than 0,30 usd). Both of us went for infect decks: He is running a GB aggro/infect built around cheap creatures (1-3 mana), hoping to get an opening to cast an instant buff or 2 on one of them. I, on the other hand, tried to go for something weirder with a mono B infect/control type thing. Since this is a strange deck, I would like to hear some inputs from you guys on it. Maybe there is a major flaw I'm not seeing, or my card choices are to uneven/unbalanced. Just keep in mind that the purpose of this deck is mainly to play against my friend's deck and not much else, therefore there are some kind of obvious flaws in it if you try to pair it with some other types of decks (burn would win 100% against it, for example).
That said, here is my card list and thank you in advance for taking your time to help
Hello all, its been a while since I played MTG and, to be honest, nowadays I mostly just play casually and have a good laugh building weird decks with the cards I have and trying them out against some friends decks.
The reason we are here today is this problematic deck I created that underperforms to a point that it's not even fun casually. It rarely "works" and even more rarely wins games against whatever it is up against. BUT I would like to change that and I'm open to ideas as long as they don't stir the deck to far away from it's current gameplay themes. No need to keep to snakes, basilisks and alike, that I don't mind changing. What I want to keep is the style of combos/mechanics that the deck uses. Additionally, as you can see, this is a extremely inexpensive deck and I would like to keep it that way if possible.
So, the main idea behind this deck was to have creatures with deathtouch or similar mechanics (plus Lure if available), suicide themselves to keep killing opposing creatures, relying on Broken Fall and Savage Silhouette to bring them back. With nothing between me and my opponent (or in case I catch them off guard), instants such as Predator's StrikeGiant GrowthPrimal BellowVines of Vastwood would work as the big player damage dealers (Insatiable Souleater also helps on that front). Naturalize is there because I always like to have 3-4 cards to (give me a chance to) deal with specially annoying artifacts or enchantments that might show up.
As you can see, this is kind of a "free for all everything is allowed" type deck. It's not fast, it's not really efficient and quite cheap to be honest. But it does have a set of combo mechanics that I find to be fun, around which the whole deck was built. All that I want to do is to improve it a little (replacing some stuff here an there, maybe adding another combo/mechanic to the mix) so that it can become a bit more playable against my friend's casual decks (that aren't really that much better than this).
That said, thank you for taking some time to help a fellow MTG player
Hello, I've read a couple of threads on how Deathtouch and Regenerate work but I'm still not completely sure that I got it right:
Let's say I'm attacking with a Turntimber Basilisk and the other player blocks it with a creature like Bonebreaker Giant. I also happen to have a Broken Fall on the table.
One last question (since you are all being so nice).
If I have that combo (Screeching Silcaw + Writ of Passage + Trepanation Blade) on the table BUT I also have something with exalted in my control (and my Screeching Silcaw attacks alone), does the same "stack in the correct order" rule apply also for the +1/+1 exalted will grant (making the combo still be possible)?
And we are editing our posts almost at the same tame, so this is getting messy.
Anyway, I think I finally get it, and i thank you very much for your patience.

thanks!
-The Elemental land that Wall of Resurgence creates is colorless?
-Can I still tap the Elemental land for mana?
thanks!
Now I'm trying to figure what to take out. I'll probably start with the Qal Sisma Behemoths and Capashen unicorns and just go with no removal whatsoever.

In case I choose to regenerate my Turntimber Basilisk using Broken Fall, will the Bonebreaker Giant still die or not?
thank you for your help guys.
