Quote from Jay13x »Sure. But the timing seems awfully convenient, especially because they'd have known Jaya was returning while working on the set, and deliberately put in several pieces of Dominaria nostalgia (like Wasitora).
I remember reading somewhere, possibly on blogatog, that Wizards intentionally put tribes that would align with Standard cards (e.g. Cats and Vampires) into the Commander set. Why not do the same with lore? Maybe they slipped Mairsil in to remind longtime players about his existence and introduce him to a new generation before they get to Dominaria.
There aren't many legendary knights that will give you the colours you're looking for. However, might I suggest going white/blue/black with say, Dakkon Blackblade as your general? All three of those colours have very decent knight creatures, even if your general doesn't count as one.
I think it's probably going to include all five precon generals, a 'staple' card for each colour, and either two lands/one artifact or two artifacts/one land.
Oblivion Ring + Inferno Titan = Game Over
This this this this this. Haze is an auto-include in any Zedruu deck.
It also combos nicely with upkeep triggers like Emeria, the Sky Ruin and Land Tax.
He's been left in the dust for more than a decade, but dammit, I love the burly green dope.
Radha - Wilderness with hints of civilization.
Selenia - Decadence and antiquity.
Glissa - Gloom and decay.
Don't forget Elvish Bard, especially with the Alliances artwork. She just looks like she's having a good old time in her ren-faire getup. I think you could leave Joraga Bard at home though.
Vorinclex tends to be a pest because he puts the rest of the table at a severe disadvantage. Even someone with a kill spell is reluctant to use it because their land won't untap.
Ghave is very annoying. He engenders a token strategy, but he also tends to abuse a lot of ETB effects like Aura Shards. Furthermore, you just can't seem to "kill" him or any of his tokens, since he's constantly either suicide-bombing himself into saprolings or eating creatures for +1/+1 counters.
I've been playing the game since November of 1994 when I bought a Revised starter, and I've never stopped playing! My collection has grown and shrank over the years and I've sworn off the endless Type II treadmill, so I don't collect that often. I mainly play EDH these days, because it lets me flex my creative muscle.
I look forward to my tenure here.
