The idea is to soulbind Tandem Lookout and Lobber Crew (or enchant with Curiosity), and machine-gun away (ping, draw, cast a multicolored, untap, rinse, repeat). The only problem is I almost always run out of mana... Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!
:sad panda: Hehe. Thanks! As to the second question, will the Guardian die from the Loxodon Smiter damage? I once heard damage was also put on the stack. Now I'm really confused...
I have been confounded with timing rules since they have been always changing (I have played Magic on and off since 1995).
Scenario is this: I have an Axebane Guardian in play (with, let's say, 7 defenders out) and a Cackling Counterpart in the 'yard. What happens when:
1. He miracles Terminus and I respond by tapping the Guardian for mana and flashbacking Cackling Counterpart, targeting the Guardian. Will the token be affected by Terminus (thereby it being exiled)?
2. He casts Supreme Verdict on his turn and I respond by tapping the Guardian for mana and flashbacking Cackling Counterpart, targeting the Guardian. Will the token die?
3. He casts an overloaded Cyclonic Rift at the end of my turn and, again, I respond by tapping the Guardian for mana and flashbacking Cackling Counterpart, targeting the Guardian. Will the token get exiled?
I believe the last in, first out rule still applies to spells on the stack, but I'm not sure, so... help me judge gurus.
Excess question: My opponent attacks with Loxodon Smiter. I block with Axebane Guardian. Can I still do the block/tap thingy with the Guardian (to produce mana to cast Cackling Counterpart)? If so, what happens? Thanks! My head hurts now.
Guys, I tried the deck on Cockatrice, faced a lifegain deck (Thragtusk, Trostani, not very budget-y). Lost 0-2.
First game: Only Lyev Skynight came out (with rancor), albeit 5 enchantments. He already had an army on the other side. Good thing I was able to cast Sphere of Resistance. Bad thing was he was able to O-Ring it. Then I died.
Second game: Invisible stalker came blazing out of the gates with a Rancor and 2 Ethereal Armors. I was able to bring his life total to 5. Then he started gaining life through Thragtusk, Trostani, et al. I had 2 Spheres on hand that I wasn't able to cast, being stuck on 3 mana.
Conclusion: This deck has potential, able to win fast or mid game (due to the sphere). For the next game, maybe I'll focus the deck more to just 2 colors, UW. Maybe Spectral Flight for Rancor...
My deck didn't include Bruna by the cause in the real world, I can't afford her.
Very nice article, as always. Aura Gnarly will be my deck of choice for Legacy, as I have nearly all the cards there. I hope you keep us fans of that deck updated with versions 3.0, 4.0, etc. Hehe...
May I suggest Transguild Courier in the New Alara Aggro deck? Though it's just a vanilla 8/8, but at 4 cmc? I sure would like to sleeve that deck up, but I took a sabbatical from Magic when Shards of Alara came out, so I don't have them cards. :sad face:
On the Planeswalker Points page, the top four guilds with the highest 'membership' have blue in them (Izzet, Azorius, Dimir, Simic, in that order). The guild with the lowest number of members is Gruul.
I went 4-5 with the Delver/Architect build yesterday at GP Manila, placing 600th+ out of 1108 participants. Not too shabby for a budget deck. I just got home so I'll post the deck list and the decks I faced later.
Can we consider Endless Wurm for the first deck (aura gnarly)? Combos well with rancor. I have three, so might as well. Also, removal spells can be placed on the SB...
I've always had a fascination for Legacy, although this is the first time I'm going to build one.
I like it! Especially with infect rotating out soon. How about adding Wingcrafter as another 'unblockable' enabler? I'll be following this as it develops. (Sorry I couldn't help with the SB)...
4 Invisible Stalker
4 Judge's Familiar
4 Lobber Crew
4 Tandem Lookout
4 Goblin Electromancer
4 Curiosity
Sorcery/Instant
4 Izzet Charm
3 Thoughtflare
4 Syncopate
2 Teleportal
10 Island
9 Mountain
4 Izzet Guildgate

My thoughts exactly. Please don't go back to writing pricey decks. Hehe...
Edit: Also, Negate for those control players' board sweepers Day of Judgment, etc.
I'll definitely be buying Keen Sense and Ms. Ledgewalker as they are the only ones missing from my Aura Gnarly build.

Thanks for the ideas, idea guy spooky!
sadly, not budget anymore. as far as spells go, you should at least bump it up to 20.
also: 21 spells? how about adding Delver of Secrets? Agree with the above poster on Wolfir Avenger...
