So this is my current list. Dropped elspeth because midrange isnt very big in my meta but KCI and Hardened scaled are, thus the stony. Is my sideboard plan of 2 clique, 2 surgical, 1 stony silence, the extra negate, and maybe EE and wear tear enough for KCI? i havent been able to test much post board and i likely wont have time to test before PPTQ on saturday. How do others approach the matchup? Feels hard preboard.
G2 was going similarly to g1 (except no mana-woes) and then I lost a judge call when i drew my card and then went to flip azcanta. Left me with 3 blue up
Grats on the good finish, but I do want to criticize you on this. You did not "lose a judge call", a judge call is not a contest, you made a misplay and your opponent called a judge to verify the correct gamestate. It's just semantics and maybe you dont mean it in that way but I really dislike the mentality of seeing judge calls at comp REL as some kind of cheap tactic or "angle shooting", you are playing a game with rules in a competitive setting and should be held to those rules.
Yeah no I phrased that badly. It was really hard not to get salty in the moment, but I can respect the ruling, as I ddi proceed to my draw step. I certainly wont miss that again any time soon, so i see it as a way to grow.
Anyone see nikolich and purcells list from SCGBalt? 3 maindeck settle, as well as adopting rosum's 3 field/2 colonnade split.
Personally, i havent missed the 1 rev since i cut it. Additionally, this was my first time on 25 lands (up from 24) and it felt great. I think rev is a little slow in my meta so maybe im biased. And as far as no lyra, i just personally really like jamming a sideboafd runed halo, and thats the slot it would have to take.

Hey all, I took jeskai (the list posted on the previous page) to a PPTQ this past weekend and made top 8 with a record of 5-0-1 before losing in the top 8. I know a lot of people like UW better right now but man did jeskai feel strong.
Quick write up:
R1: 2-0 Green-red stompy
This was more or less a brew. G1 he never played a 2nd land and conceded to my 4th land drop + azcanta.
G2: I keep a kinda slow 6 and get rewarded. After supreme verdict on 4 he was out of gas and the game was easy.
R2: 1-1-1 Bant Knightfall
G1 I keep a 7 with 5 burn spells and no red mana. t3 i field of ruin to turn on my hand. Opponents draw felt clunky and once i could cast my spells he couldnt keep up.
G2 was going similarly to g1 (except no mana-woes) and then I lost a judge call when i drew my card and then went to flip azcanta. Left me with 3 blue up instead of 4 and let his GideonAOZ slip through, cost me the game.
G3 I just couldnt win in time
R3: 2-0 storm
G1 my opponent cast about 9 cantrips and then couldnt beat cryptic+logic knot when they finally tried to go off. bolt+snap was very good.
G2 opponent empties for 8 goblins on t4. I ripped EE and was beating down with clique. they emptied for 10 more but bolt+snap and clique had them DoB.
R4: 2-0 bant counters company
G1 i just killed everything and they conceded to azcanta+teferi.
G2 Went more or less the same way except secure into cryptic tap their team was GG.
R5: 2-0 bant spirits
G1 they have no play until t2 and i just pick their board apart. i never fell below 13.
G2 was almost a carbon copy of g1. Saw 0 hierarchs the whole match.
R6: 2-1 Jund
G1 after a LotV, discard spells, and my burn all trade off it was a topdeck war. Unanswered teferi won me the game
G2 we reached a topdeck war again and I drew 5 straight lands to die to ravine+bob.
G3 Was, again, a topdeck war ans I slammed a verdict on the last possible turn to not die and then ripped teferi to take over the game. secure the wastes let me win in t3 of extra turns.
Top8: 1-2 Burn
G1 i drew all 3 helix and 2 snaps, he just couldnt kill me in time for azcanta to take over.
G2 I mull to 6 and keep on the back of helix. He never drew a 4th land and i died.
G3 see g2.
Overall the deck really felt like it just couldnt lose to creature decks. And the opts felt amazing all day
@Torbsen: Lists online and people in my meta have been picking it up. its nice to be able to leave up interaction and then opt end step.I still need to jam more games with it.
Hello all! I put together jeskai a few months ago and i really enjoy the deck. However, im trying to tweak the sideboard to fit my meta the best I can. My mets usually includes a fair amount of burn, storm, affinity, jeskai, E-tron and G-tron , titan/scapeshift, KCI, humans, and hollow one. Luckily, in my meta dredge baically doesnt exist. I feel like the sideboard is strong, but I wanted more opinions (constructive criticism is great). I considered a stony silence but i feel like stroke and surgical hit KCI decently and I never feel like i need the help against affinity. Also, would it be worth playing a 3rd field of ruin over the glacial fortress?
Thanks in advance!
Edit: worth noting im trying out the opts. Need more testing before i decide bewteen opt snd serum visions.
I've been putting up decent results since theros came out, yet to go worse that 2-2. I love running 3 wincons (elixir does not count. me and esper went to time in game 1 due to both running elixir). I hate divination as a card. tapping out to draw two os the last thing i want to be doing on turn 3.
the main reason i am posting is that i was wondering if it would be better to cut an A. charm for a quicken? (corner base instant verdict) and also if i should bump up to 4 jace. I never really don't want to cast jace, but i'm not sure what i'd cut.
With all of the spoilers so far, i'm rather inclined to switch over to orzhov control. Do you think U/W is better? Even pre-BNG, i tend to have a rough time with esper and boss sligh, along wth a mono black (w/ green splash) that is popular in my meta. i'm the only person in my meta on strict U/W. While i have yet to go worse that 2-2 since theros came out and i've been playing U/W since then , i find that a lot of the time i barely squeeze out my wins. (I.E. end up in a topdeck war or topdeck the answer when i need it)
I was at FNM a few weeks ago playing U/W control and my opponent was on jund midrange. It was game 2, and he slaughter games'd my revelations and my syncopates. I was in topdeck mode with us both at 4 life and was facing down a reaper of the wilds, stormbreath dragon, and desecration demon. I had my aetherling in play, but he had a pithing needle out naming aetherling already (I guess he didnt have a kill spell, lucky for me lol). I proceed to topdeck a detention sphere with like 12 lands in play and win.
Azorius Charm: lifelink can be relevant when stabilizing, but mainly this is good for either a cantrip or to put a dude on top. Never really sad to see one of these.
Sphinx's Revelation: I mean, we're a control deck. Puts the game away a good bit of the time.
Dissolve: Great replacement for dissipate and helps to smooth out draws. hard counters are nice.
Syncopate: can disrupt the opponents tempo and punish mana-screwed opponents.
Celestial Flare: catches people off guard. Great against hexproof/indestructible. Pretty solid.
Renounce the Guilds: really good against Obzedat and other multicolor stuff. It's a bit awkward with detention sphere, but you know that going in so its easy to account for it.
Detention Sphere: almost catch-all removal. great to get rid of a troublesome creature or planeswalker.
Elspeth, Sun's Champion: Great finisher, board wipe can surprise people the turn she comes down. all around solid.
Jace, Architect of Thought: Hoses dudes against aggro, digs deeper into the deck for answers, and the ultimate is pretty sweet. I'd say hes solid.
I've been playing this deck for a while with strangleroots mainboard and had some good success. I really like strangleroot in the deck and i rarly have problems casting it early.
And whats the plan vs jund? this is the deck that gives me the most trouble, and what sideboard cards are good here?

3 Omenspeaker
1 Aetherling
Instants/Sorceries:
4 Supreme Verdict
4 Azorious charm
4 Sphinx's Revelation
2 Celestial Flare
3 Dissolve
3 Syncopate
1 Renounce the Guilds
4 Detention Sphere
Planeswalkers:
2 Elspeth, Sun's Champion
3 Jace, Architect of Thought
Land:
4 Hallowed Fountain
2 Azorius Guildgate
2 Mutavault

2 Pithing Needle
2 Blind Obedience
2 Negate
2 Hundred-Handed One
1 Jace, Memory Adept
1 Dispel
1 Heliod, God of the Sun
1 Omenspeaker
Card Choices:
Aetherling: Short order finisher, worthy of a spot.
Omenspeaker: very good turn two play, blocks bears all day and smooths out draws.
Supreme Verdict: Board wipe, pretty self-explanatory
Azorius Charm: lifelink can be relevant when stabilizing, but mainly this is good for either a cantrip or to put a dude on top. Never really sad to see one of these.
Sphinx's Revelation: I mean, we're a control deck. Puts the game away a good bit of the time.

Hallowed Fountain: untapped split land? Yes please.
Azorius Guildgate: can be pretty good on turn one. Can be clunky when drawn if you need a land that turn though. I run 1-2.
Mutavault: man-land to attack or block when needed? comes in untapped? great.
Side:
Blind obedience: great against haste (and the new stormbreath dragon) and lifegain on any spell you want? seems good.
Renounce the guilds: most of the time its a solid answer.
Hundred-Handed one: can't be helixed, blocks most dudes all day. can attack while still being able to block. monstrous is ridiculous against aggro.
Pithing Needle: planeswalker/aetherling hate.
Dispel: one mana revelation counter seems good against control.
Negate: again, pretty good against control, or any deck low on creatures.
Heliod: makes dudes and sometimes even becomes a dude. will need tested more, sees ok against midrange/control.
Jace, Memory Adept: Unanswered against control generally wins you the game.
Omenspeaker: again, blocks all day and smooths out our draws.
Any Suggestions?
And whats the plan vs jund? this is the deck that gives me the most trouble, and what sideboard cards are good here?
