It feels like it's missing something, like the ability to create more illusions, or giving illusions an anthem, or even just some evasion (hello, Islandwalk?). As it is, it feels bad man.
Or maybe flash...

Weird Mythic with an unique, quirky effect: Why is this Mythic? It should be a rare! Mythics should be strong!
It's an endless circle...
Well except it is neither... it is not unique or quirky or powerful.....

Being at 3 cmc, this makes a VERY tasty creature to feed into Pod as soon as its extra mana isnt needed.
Birthpod *is* on a stick. Vannifar is Birthpod on legs (effect on a stick is usually "An activated effect on a noncreature artifact", effect on legs is usually "on a creature").
Or would be, if Vannifar had legs.
true lol. But I do wonder if Vannifar will see play. IF she does, this guy makes for a decent ramper and fuel to feed into her.

turn 2 this guy
turn 3 6 mana? Sounds legit...

That is what I was thinking in the "Big butts Matter" deck comment xD. that would effectively be 9 power on the board for 5 mana.
Jan 7, 2019Posted in: The Rumor MillQuote from thatmarkguy »So you run it in decks where your deck was built to profit from a symmetrical boardwipe. Like, say, Afterlife. Or Undying.
But very few of those decks would prefer to blow up their whole board over just keeping the creatures and swinging in with them... And if you are introducing undying, you are now looking at formats that have Wrath of God/Day of Judgment/Supreme Verdict/Terminus.... and this card doesnt come close to those cards in power...

I wonder if Temur or Jund will be bigger. With Temur you have mana sinks in Adapt creatures, but with Jund you have much more durable creatures (lots of recursive creatures) and access to some heavy hitting demons. Combining Domri with that new Rakdos enchantment can also let you have an pretty consistent and powerful filter/draw suite.
That's a good question. Domri seems to work better in Jund rather than Temur, but I could see him being run in either one. I guess which deck ends up being better depends on whether the Simic +1/+1 counter mechanics are strong enough.
The other thing that Temur has going for it is that Riot also syncs nicely with Simic's focus on +1/+1 counters. Like Zegana would be brutal with Riot.

In Commander you have Wrath of God, Day of Judgment, and Damnation in BW... this card is much harder to cast for an admittedly limited upside...
This card is just weird... the lifegain portion of the card is actually really bad... The only time it would be even remotely impactful is if you had multiple creatures on the field.. but if you DID have multiple creatures on the field, why would you be blowing it up?... it feels like a sort of Gideon issue (the one that got loyalty for enemy creatures), the time this card is at its best is precisely when you DONT want to be using it....
