Ok aggro has SOME strategy. No one said that it does not has some strategy. I am just saying that control is harder to play than aggro.

    Um really? Lone revenant?
Um Deadeye Navigator is SIGNIFICANTLY better than Revenant in control. Why? Because control in Rav is probably going to be Esper/Azorious lock down control. Permissive control is goign to have a hard time with uncounterable cards. And playing singleton creatures with probably 2 token guilds (Selesnya for sure and probably Orzhova) is gonna hurt.

The other part of control will probably be Jund control which, again, is not permissive or Blue.

The only reason why he wasnt played befoer is because the 6+ drops that matter right now are Titans, Wormcoil Engine, Elesh Norn.

With ETB abilities like Thragtusk, Detain, Elvish Visionary, Champion of the Parish/Lambholt, and Soul of the Harvest he can be more than capable of building up MAJOR advantage. Additionally, he essentially offers himself and his pair vigilance and evasion from target removal. Sigarda is good, but she is a completely different creature for a completely different deck.

    Ancient Grudge
Pretty much this. The card creates card disadvantage, is slow, and dies to Ancient Grudge. I know its the "dies to removal" arguement, but its sadly the truth.

I also don't forsee this being played in Rav either because they care about their stuff being IN the GY and STAYING there until they can scavange them, rather than reanimating everything. Also, Lol troll/Lilianna of the Viel are better discard outlets.

Ok to all the people going on and one with a long chain of interactions to kill A SINGLE GLISTENER ELF, I think they kinda forget one thing. When you go 'Sac the token and ping your dude" and you go 'Apostol's Blessing Black', they CAN'T Tragic Slip him. He still has Prot Black. Its UNTIL END OF TURN.

Im sorry but aggro is an easier game than control.
There is no such thing as a wrong threat, but there are such things as wrong answers. For control players we have to think and take apart your deck and ask ourselves:
Do I have other answers for this in my deck?
How many more do I have?
Will this kill me soon or can I let it pass, save my counter for later, and just bite a few hits?
What does he have in his hand? Does he have more threats?
What do I get rid of (in the case of discard)?
What will be the most damaging to me in the long run?
When should I play my big permenates?

Hell just look the players championship. When Yuuya played the Dark confidant, Shouta had the delimma of whether or not to counter it. When he did, Yuuya just played Bloodbraid Elf, not having to worry about another counter. For the aggressor, not matter which creature came in it would have been good for him, but for the control player, you have to make hard decisions.

A single bad play doesn't affect aggro nearly as muhc as a single bad play from control. If you misplay one thing, you can easily lose the game.

I'm sorry but only a person who has never truly played control would think aggro is harder than control. Oh and just so you know, delver is not control. It is a tempo deck.

Eh how about this pony right here. She's got good 5 HP, but if you flip this switch right herr on startup, it starts up this herr supercharger and brings her up to a full 6 HP.

  • posted a message on What is the most "fun" deck you have played this standard season?
    Standard "fish"

I ran 4 Masters of the Pearl Tridents, 4 Adaptives, 4 images, 4 Metamorphs, 2 Stormtides, 2 Merfolk Loots, and a bunch of counters. It was endlessly funny when i would drop stormtide and swing with a bunch of unblockable merfolk XD

Agreed. Will only be good in my opinion if detain can come with some good creatures. With the flickering effects and combined with jace, you can get a pretty good lock down. And unlike the stonehorn lock, you can still be offensive since you just shut down their cards.

    Quote from Lotus
No, people did play Mind Shatter in standard, because it could be absolutely devastating. This has a "bonus" that is different than Mind Shatter. Mind Shatter was random, making it disruping opponent's early. This has direct face damage, making it better at finishing your opponent in the late game. It's ridiculous that you think that because of the fact that Rakdos' Return isn't random completely invalidates it when they have different bonuses, and I think the bonus of Rakdos' Return is actually better.

You completely missed the point of what I was trying to say. Good X-spells are going to look bad at certain values of X. It's the flexibility that makes them good.

I could name tons of really good X-spells that aren't always the most efficient at every point in which you're casting it, but you have to look at the bigger picture.

Blue Sun's Zenith for 1 XD
Becomes a VERY BAD think twice :p.
    Or White Sun's Zenith for 1 :p

This I can see being a fun 1 of for Grixis Control for sure. Once you get Olivia out, you can use this to clear their hand, and use Izzet charm and such to protect your Olivia from any topdeck as you ride her to victory.

Honestly I think this guy will be very easily abusable. How hard is it for GREEN to give something trample? I wonder what people are comparing him too? He is a 3 drop. Of course he is no Titan XD

Ok people who say fish is oppressive are smokin something. Tell me the last time fish was a big deck in legacy meta. Fish is good, but not oppressive. Sneak show is much more so.
