Hi StevomatUWR. I upvoted the deck and added to the featured section on the front page. I was fairly active on TappedOut until I found the forums. My original list is still on there to this day I believe. My name on tapped out is CurdBrosBrewingCompany. I need to post an updated list on there at some point.
Exitenz- I really like Ionize in your deck. The style of that card fits great into a more midrange aggro-control style deck. Figure of Destiny also fits this style of play well. You and Stevomat play somewhat similar styles right now and it looks like a great place to be.

For reference, here's my current list (unfortunately no Scalding Tarns).
it's a pretty stock list and good... although i would probably go 4 sulfur falls if you can.. it's the best land in the deck...
* I noticed that BBD played Vandalblast instead of Ancient Grudge. What are people's experiences with this?
vandalblast i always liked and i play over grudge... it's relevant against amulet and tron and also affinity esp on the draw.. they all have relevant turn 1 artifact plays and if you're on the draw it's going to be too late to grudge most of them.... vandalblast works as a later shatterstorm for the affinity matchup so you don't lose too much from grudge...
* Twisted Image has been picking up in popularity. Does it deserve one slot main deck? Any thoughts on what to cut then?
this usually fills the flex slots in the deck and it's a meta call... twisted image is mainly for spellskite which sees play in half the t1/2 decks out there... it also has some uses on offense so it's sort of relevant... it's an ok card but for it to get the full power you should put it in when you're expecting a lot of spellskite...
* With GR Tron and BW Eldrazi getting played more, doesn't Crumble to Dust fit in as a one-of in the sideboard? Do I cut Anger of the Gods?
* Any additional thoughts on my deck? (aside from "wrong" fetchlands that is..)
I love crumble to dust.... but again it's a meta call on how much of the decks you're expecting revolve around land... if you go online the meta is definitely shifting in that direction so it's good there...

FaeKeeler posted a message on [Primer] UB/x FaeriesPosted in: Aggro & TempoQuote from Existenz »I'm looking for a new deck in Modern and Faeries suits my playstyle so I'm very interested in the archetype. I have a couple quick questions, they might have been discussed earlier but reading through 200+ pages is a bit too much for me.
Is Far // Away a card that could fit as a one-of?
Does anyone have a problem with the lack of card-draw? Could something like Think Twice find a spot?
With four Bitterblossom, do you ever feel like you need some lifegain? I see that some people are running a Sword, have any other options been explored?
Thanks in advance!
In order:
-There's a lot of flexibility in how you build the deck, so there can definitely be room for Far//Away if you want there to be. The thing to keep in mind is that you need to be able to interact cheaply in the early game or you'll find yourself too far behind to be able to leverage the card advantage from Bitterblossom into a win.
-I've run Anticipate before and liked it, but there are some times where you'll need it to be something to interact now and it will be awkward.
-There are some situations where lifegain is desirable (like against burn), which is why you usually see some form of it in sideboards. Just supporting bitterblossom itself isn't usually enough of a reason to run lifegain since bitterblossom will only deal 6-7 damage to us before presenting lethal to our opponent (assuming the boardstate remains about even otherwise). Several people will use sword of light and shadow, but you can also use Sword of War and Peace, Vampiric Link, Vampire Nighthawk, batterskull, or wurmcoil engine depending on what and how you're fighting.
Welcome to the Fae. -

Krovax posted a message on UR Twin (2/2015 - 1/2016)Posted in: Modern Archives - ProvenQuote from Existenz »Thanks for a very good thread guys. I've finally assembled all cards for my Splinter Twin-deck (well, I'm missing Vendilion Clique but I figured that the deck's playable even without them) and have a couple of questions that I was hoping you could help me with.
I saw a recent deck tech with Jeff Hoogland who was playing Temur Moon, and he used Boomerang as a tempo-trick to bounce his opponents lands to gain momentum. I have one flex-slot in my main deck and like having an unexpected card, and Boomerang seemed like a fun and interesting choice. Have any of you tried it? How was it?
In my sideboard I'm playing Anger of the Gods since that seems to be the default (and best) choice for sweeper. At the same time I keep eyeing my copies of Volcanic Fallout and thinking that the instant speed (and uncounterability) just fits the deck so much better. Has anyone tried it? I'm assuming people prefer Anger due to Voice of Resurgence and Kitchen Finks (well, and against Zoo also).
I'm pretty new to Modern and hope that my questions don't come across as stupid, but I figured that people usually are pretty helpful on this forum and that it's probably fine to fire off my questions. Thanks in advance!
Can it be played without them? Sure. But against some matchups, Vendilion Clique the single best card in your deck. I would never leave home without at least a 1/1 split, but thats just me...maybe its just an unhealthy obsession with the card
No your questions are not stupid. These forums are to openly discuss archetypes making us all better.
In regards to boomerang, I played it as a one-of looong ago. Ive since moved away from it for a card like peak in the 60.
You are not the first person I've heard suggest volcanic fallout over anger of the gods. In the birthing pod world we used to live in, exiling the creature was very important...kitchen finks etc could be a real issue. I have yet to test it since the recent bannings, but on paper i still think anger > fallout. Sure fallout is uncounterable, but most of the decks we need this type of weapon against isn't trying to counter us anyway. The big deal is the third damage. I know zoo decks seem like to be long gone from modern, but 3 damage vs 2 damage can be a very big deal. I cant imagine a scenario where it would make a difference whether it was instant speed or not, except maybe killing pestermite in the mirror, but they dont kill exarchs so surely there is something better we can be doing there.

HugeElfBoy posted a message on [$50 - $350] Modern Zoo Budget PrimerPosted in: Budget (Modern)
I have been Playing one drop zoo for awhile now, and it's definitely a great start with LOTS of room to improve. First off i would trade the pyroclasms for Volcanic fallout personally, gets off a turn later but the fact that it can't be countered and does 2 damage to players are relevant factors. Personally I would switch the seeker of the way for Kor Firewalker if you want to go with the gain life route (Kor firewalker is AMAZING in current meta with treasure burn and delver everywhere.) I would gear more away from monastery swiftspear and towards either steppe lynx or experiment one which free's up a lot of the support cards for other slots ( eg gut shot and mutagenic growth. but that is personal preference along with the fact i haven't tested the MSS.) But if you want MSS in I would say you have to go all out by maxing out mutagenic growths switching helix etc... for one cost spells(pillar of flames, forked bolt (expensive) rift bolt etc...) and possibly adding hooting mandrills with the uptake in grave size. Other than that the sideboard is pretty good (once you know your meta you can really slide it one way or the other), i prefer to use rest in peace over relic in decks that I don't utilize the grave.Quote from Existenz »Hi everyone. I've really only been playing Standard but am thinking of giving Modern a shot - and Zoo seems like a cool deck to play. For budget reasons I've got no Goyfs nor Goblin Guides, but am hoping to making it semi-competitive at least. Would really appreciate feedback on my build, especially regarding the sideboard since I have no clue what decks I'll face in Modern.
