Looks a bit vulnerable to fliers/evasion though, probably wants to fit Condemn in there somewhere (is E. Tutor too cute?).

Feb 6, 2018I meant it more as an artifacts payoff card in general rather than as a specifically black one. I'd put it in the colorless section.Posted in: Pauper & Peasant Discussion
I'm reminded that we already had an 'artifacts matter' thread a while ago: https://www.mtgsalvation.com/forums/the-game/the-cube-forum/pauper-peasant-discussion/755898-artifact-matters
Feb 6, 2018Black offers Executioner's Capsule for the Trinket Mage/Salvagers deck I guess.Posted in: Pauper & Peasant Discussion
Cranial Plating is probably the big 'artifacts matter' pay-off card for us but I don't think that theme is quite viable (yet?) in C/Ube (without skewing your entire design ethos around it).
Jan 31, 2018It's a fine but not spectacular card, about on par with the original Icy Manipulator for me. And, yeah, there also hasn't really been any other outstanding candidates for the third place colorless card (after Express and Blade) as far as I can recall.Posted in: Pauper & Peasant Discussion
Jan 29, 2018Had one on cubetutor earlier that seemed interesting. First picked a Joraga Treespeaker then met with this for P1P2:Posted in: Pauper & Peasant Discussion
- Rakshasa Gravecaller
- Flame Slash
- Izzet Boilerworks
- Orzhov Basilica
- Relief Captain
- Burst Lightning
- Eldrazi Skyspawner
- Everflowing Chalice
- Cloudfin Raptor
- Vampire Nighthawk
- Hellspark Elemental
- Treasure Cruise
...what's the pick?
Jan 26, 2018Cool idea for a thread. Mostly just put my votes down for now (did it 'blind' before reading rancored's choices), might come back and add some additional commentary later.Posted in: Pauper & Peasant Discussion
(Honorable mention: Knight of the Kitchen Sink with protection from two-word names.)
3) Gust Walker
2) Inspiring Cleric - a late but decent addition for me. It is to Lone Missionary as Phyrexian Rager is to to Dusk Legion Zealot
1) Knight of the Kitchen Sink with protection from black-borders.
(Honorable mentions: Aether Chaser, Cascade version of Garbage Elemental)
3) Charging Monstrosaur
2) Ahn-Crop Crasher
Jan 7, 2018In CU/be, I think Reckless Rage might be worse than Bombard (from this same set). I'm also struggling to imagine that there's a Peasant cuber who feels like they don't have enough good options for burn spells already anyway.Posted in: Pauper & Peasant Discussion
I played quite a lot of Iconic Masters limited last year and Bond always seemed rubbish in the BW 'lifegain matters' deck in that format (which was actually quite a good/fun deck but the best parts were usually Seeker of the Way and/or Student of Ojutai paired with some combination of Angelic Accord/Ajani's Pridemate/Survival Cache). Bond was pretty much the embodiment of 'win more' there, can't really see that changing in a CU/be context.
Jan 5, 2018Herdcaller reminds me of Bestial Menace in that I don't particularly like how it can get trumped by x/4 creatures; it's probably not a bad card but I think Green has many better 5-drops already.Posted in: Pauper & Peasant Discussion
I'm slightly surprised there's not that much interest in Grasping Scoundrel. Do I have to give the lecture about aggro decks and critical mass again?
Jan 5, 2018At 540 I'm looking at:Posted in: Pauper & Peasant Discussion
Thrashing Brontodon (less sure about this one)
...and I think that's it?
Happy enough to be getting another couple of 2-power one-drops though to be honest.

Oh sure, it makes a fair amount of sense for regular limited (particularly for things like Legion Conquistador)... but it is also quite funny at first glance.
