No, what is actually not helpful is the fact that no one else is really even making a remote effort at this game. I mean, literally the entirety of the game, thus far, has been JSexton trying to take advantage of a newb, me quashing that, and now this. It would be perfectly fine for someone else to contribute SOMETHING.

There doesn't seem to be much to go on at the moment, but let's try.

    - We have to play this game like a normal Mafia game. Seriously? Don't worry about the Doomsday Clock or what other 'excellently designed' features are in this game. The way it's clearly designed is that if we lynch a reasonable percentage of scum, we stay afloat. Oh wait, just like a normal game. We just don't get as much LaL time unless we hit scum early. A related point- take the two different mafias as just mafia. At this point, all scums are the same until we figure out just what the differences are. Speculation is basically useless without any information.

    - It's a large game; we need to have a solid Day One. If we do rush, we'll go into Day Two without enough data to analyse... etc. Take it slow (but not too slow- we still need to develop cases on people!)

That may seem like obvious stuff, but this game does seem so far to be Newbie 21 Except Big And Plus Cyan. Speaking of Cyan, I'm not sure about him. He seems to be a lot more accusatory than everyone else in this game; and I agree with others in that he does seem to be a little jumpy. I trust him, though (not having nearly as much experience); and count me in with Wuffles; I'm just a sheeple waiting to be led Wink

Why did this irrelevant thread get bumped, and what in the blue hell is Stalker of Shadows? If it was even noteworthy, odds are I'd be able to tell. Seeing as how the only two cards in EVE with "Stalker" in their names are Stalker Hag, and Umbra Stalker, I laugh at anyone thinking anything format warping is happening here.

It was the rough translation of Umbra Stalker, as we had only the Italian scan of it.

@ mondu: You have to go the Guided Passage route (which I always thought was clunky design, but hey, it's functional) - 'Reveal your library. Target opponent chooses a land card and a creature card from the revealed cards. Put one of the chosen cards into your hand, and the other into play tapped.' or a similar wording. I think that one's appropriate though.

I've found that when people use the word "clearly", it's very often about something that isn't clear at all. Several people have pointed out the statement as odd and worthy of inquiry.

In what way is shutting down a line of inquiry pro-town, Karmo?

There's a point where you're going too far, though. Do you think (This question is to AK, too) that it's worthy to pursue this? Bil has said he was joking, and just because he didn't use :p repeatedly throughout his post as an indication he was joking doesn't make his intentions any more malicious or scummy. I mean, we have to use common sense here- would Bilbroxain (or any new player) go into a Mafia game not knowing that Day One No Lynch is horrible? Especially a Mafia game that isn't a newbie?

If you look at Alice Mafia, you can see that Bil doesn't vote NL there. What in this game would make him seriously vote no lynch, when he doesn't do it there? (Apologies if this counts as talking about an ongoing game- if Bil had any completed games, I'd look at those instead)

It was a useful little exercise in Mafia theory, but the game was basically broken- the whole game was basically formulating good reasons to bandwagon someone, because the majority of the players didn't care who got lynched, as long as it wasn't them.

    Fast game, ey?

@ Dagger: Yep, I'm chaosjuggler. One and the same. My first game on this site? Lost Mafia. Yeah... that didn't really help my mafia experience. In ANY way. (Anyone remember Lost Mafia? There was one townie. Two mafia, and nine serial killers. Wow, what a failure)

I honestly don't believe that Bilbrox's post could be taken seriously or as a tell. Sure, it's the internet and all (and sarcasm doesn't work without [sarcasm] tags) but one would at least think that someone who's playing a mafia game knows that VNL on day one is a bad idea. If not, then we instill that into them, and move on. Fos: AK and JSex.

@ JSex: There's a difference between 'waiting until three weeks of fluff have been posted' and 'making a big deal out of something that's clearly random, and definitely not serious'. You're pushing a case that isn't there.

Agree with Dagger. What if we lynch an innocent townie? Such a grievous mislynch would make it impossible for us to win this game.
