Iso posted a message on Politically incorrectness, especially "casual" slursI think political correctness is dumb and bad. It conditions people to think a certain way instead of in free-form, and it's censorship - phasing words out of a language for the purpose of not allowing people to correlate a particular idea is totalitarianism and I don't agree with it in the slightest. Easter is a fine opportunity for some good old admin abuse.
Basically, the deal is this: Fancy a colored custom? Bold? Italics? Post in this thread and your request will be granted. Assuming, of course, that it complies with our rules and all that.
Additionally, it'd be very helpful if you could type out the HTML yourself. With other words, if you want a bold, italicized custom, you write:
Custom Title
Result: Custom Title
If you want a blue custom title, you'll first have to figure out the HTML color code for blue. Here's a good site for that. We find that the code for regular blue text is #0000FF. As such, you write:
Custom Title
Result: Custom Title
Rules:
- No bold red.
- No images or smilies or the like, only text!
- Max 42 characters (formatting doesn't count).
- I won't change your background color or anything.
Note that if you later decide to change your custom yourself, the coding will disappear.
Have fun! -

SephX posted a message on What is the matter with the Mythic rarity?Posted in: Magic GeneralQuote from Monkey222As per the title, I want to know why so many people seem against the mythic rarity. It's a common theme on this site and it seems that someone mentions it in nearly every thread.
So, what's up with it?
Well, most people raving against it were around when Shards block dropped them. WotC basically announced they were adding it, a lot of people got uneasy, but the article stated it was basically for epic, bomby spells, legends, and planeswalkers, not utility stuff like lands. Then in Zendikar, they gave us enemy fetches, which paired with the Landfall keyword, and promptly printed Lotus Cobra. Any deck that wanted him wanted 4, hence utility. A lot of people shouted 'I knew it!' the second they saw it, because it felt like a cash grab. Sure enough, a 2-drop became a $20 card, and made a lot of people upset. Then we saw Vengevine, which clearly had nothing mythic about him. Baneslayer Angel, Jace, the Mind Sculptor, and so on. A narrow group of painfully broken, overpowered tournament-level cards started becoming the norm.
So, in short, here's the problem: You buy a box, it has 3/15 mythics. Only 1 is a tourney staple. To get a set of them, a dealer has to crack more than 5 boxes just for your playset. So now he has 8 of every rare, so the price on them shoots low, even for staples (think Detention Sphere, now at a whopping $3). Comparatively, the 15 mythics in the set now range from $2 for a crappy one, to $25-60 for the most desired ones. Basically, every good mythic that people want multiples of makes the value of every other card in the set go down. Guys on a budget can't afford the mythics and get upset, guys savvy enough to trade up to them on every trade ask everyone else why they're complaining so much, and the numbers appear to show that the cost of tourney decks is rising as a result.
There ya go. Tried to make that as matter-of-fact as I could without starting an inevitable flame war this question will bring. -

SonofaBith posted a message on Can someone help me find...While it's not exactly what you're looking for in regards to the card case, may I recommend the Monster 2-pocket mini binder? It won't provide as much protection as something rigid that snaps closed, but if you're looking for something that's a small, convenient, portable size, and you only need to carry with you a few cards instead of lugging around your whole collection, they can't be beat. I've had two of them for about a year and a half, and they've never let me down, no cards were ever damaged.Posted in: Real-Life Advice
It's a 2-pocket binder, capable of holding 64 cards. Even when completely full it's only about 3/4 of an inch thick.
Two pocket binder review: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6CwqibA_hrk
$10 here, but can be found cheaper elsewhere if you look around the web. http://www.amazon.com/Monster-Binder-Holofoil-Anti-theft-Gathering/dp/B0043BNUOK/ref=pd_sim_t_3
It's designed so cards can't slide out (watch the video). The cards in the video are in there pretty snug, but that's because they're sleeved (also she's trying to remove them one-handed. Cards are snug, but do come out fairly easily. I do recommend loosening up each pocket first by inserting something worthless in first like a basic land, then removing the land before putting in the card you really intend on putting in. While the video demonstrates Yu-Gi-Oh cards, the binders only come in one size, and they fit Magic cards. -

Virtually everyone I play with would be claiming it triggers from Unearth, Scavenge, Dredge... and now especially Emblam. Leading to yet another phone lookup, every other weekend. Rofl =S

Cavern has virtually no drawbacks; 1 mana of any color for creature type, creature can't be countered. Its a land, so it can't be countered, and its harder to spot remove than creatures & enchantments. It inherently has no casting cost. Its never useless, as it can be used for (1)
Snapcaster recurses at instant speed, puts a 2/1 onto the table at instant speed, can be abused with dozens of bounce effects, hypothetically allows you to run 8 copies of any spell in the deck, or diversify yourself and run less copies of everything else. You're rarely sad to top deck it. In the worst of times, he's got you. If he can't snap the answer, he can often snap a brainstorm or ponder that gets you an answer.
They are exactly what you'd expect from a mythic rare; not like Quicksilver Gargantuan. >_>

Take a step back. Look at the CDC's website for information regarding annual death tolls in America. Over 2.6 million people died in America last year alone. If we lost 100 people to terrorist attacks, its a drop in the bucket.
You'd save more lives focusing on gun violence (~33K) drunk driving (~10K) or heroin (~30K) This implies the travel ban is pretty much pointless. Its laughable, and actions like this makes people hate America more.

I live in Ohio. Voting requires a form of identification (commonly drivers license or state ID, though utility bill and other things are accepted) Its never taken me more than 15 minutes to vote. Every adult should have BC, SS and valid ID. Figure out the system. Its damn hard to do anything at the BMV without these. At least two of them are no charge. God forbid you get a suspension for not having it - asking friends to drive you out of county to an office that can reinstate it is a huge hassle and can come with a lot of fines. Don't cry about the $25 or having to wait at the SS office with old people who occupy the sole teller for 3 hours. We all have to do it. Figure out the system. And while I'm on the soap box - pay the credit card balance off every month, keep at least 2 months pay in a savings account, don't buy ***** you can't afford, cigarettes (and weed) are bad for your lungs and a huge waste of money.
Amen.

Topic of regrets aside for a moment
Because its a basic fundamental of democracy. The majority if people in that region want this for themselves. So while you or I may believe that's a stupid decision, its their decision. What's actually driving it doesn't matter. And all too often, despite the majority of people in a region choosing something for themselves, some entity steps in and tells them what's good for them and how its going to be. Half the time we don't even get to vote on the crap, its just passed and put in place. Or its simply done.
.......
Then on the topic of regret, I bet a lot of that is because the rest of the world and their own government is painting the situation like the sky is falling. But many Britts (and Scots) on my LINE are pretty happy about it overall. Many believe the EU acts like a dictatorship.

Is any of that really sexist? Or is it just blunt honesty?
We've had plenty of terrible but HOT secretaries here at the office who were clearly hired for their looks.
Our local bar ONLY hires hot bartenders. All five of them are hot. Two of them are decent bartenders.
(PS I might mention the LEGS are in back in season)
Supermodels are supermodels because they are hot
Hot chicks pose for car calendars because they are hot.
Time warner and AT&T hire sales people who are hot. They come to my door. They have big big cleavage. My lady yells at me to "send that cable lady away" (lol) All across the country, hot chicks are hired because they are hot. That's just how it is. GOD FORBID someone actually say it - that's sexist.
And on the last bit - lots of people I've talked to think that Clinton is a weak character because she didn't leave Bill. It wasn't just an affair among common folk and two people trying to work things out. Its the POTUS and the first lady for gods sake, and it was EVERYWHERE. It STILL IS. Nothing sexist for sharing that belief
Not listed here, but calling someone a fat pig isn't sexist either.

I do agree with posters below; I would almost always T1 a Serra's Ascendant in either scenario. I myself wouldn't run Serra Ascendant outside of 2HG though.

There is no rehabilitation for those people. You cannot fix it.
What punishment is or should be, is every mans opinion. To me, its very much vengeance for all the victims. Sitting in prison for life isn't an equal trade for the crimes committed. Even lethal injection is too nice for some of these people.
The death penalty also serves as a strong deterrent in general. Bring back the chair.
