That BG land is hella good. CYA Treetop Village!

Hopefully our friend can spoil the UR manland so we can be disappointed before Christmas. Laughing
Well anything UR is automatically way better due to the prevelance of UR and URx decks in modern. I mean Steam Vents after the reprint was the cheapest shockland and then now later its the most expensive. I mean even something halfway decent on the UR manland could see heavy play in modern. To follow that up the buddy lands from Innistrad behaved the exact same way, Sulfur Falls now eclipses every other enemy buddy land by a good margin.

Nykthos in comparison to gaea's cradle is like comparing black lotus to lotus bloom. If nykthos was only slightly reduced in powerlevel I imagine it would be doing something in modern but it isn't.
Hmm in modern two decks have used Nyxthos to some degree Company Elves played it as a 1 of and Modern Green-Devotion played it as a 4 of. Those decks have fallen out of popularity mostly but they are still playable in the format and can do well.

    They'll dip at rotation.

they spiked, only because the word came down that they weren't in BFZ and then the stupidity of standard, 4-5 color splashing decks became a thing, so 10-15 fetches per deck became a thing.

all those people, who have slightly, and moderately played fetches are going to try and dump them on the market. If you were smart you bought playsets back when they were 10ish/15 tops. but people have needed active playsets for standard. There is tonage of them out there.

Hell... they've already slid a tiny bit. the Polluted deltas that spiked to $25 are now flirting with sub $20. I think you'll easily be able to score playsets at TCG low, or Ebay for sub $20 a card. ...i doubt it'll go as low as $9/$10 that some of them flirted with. but... they're never going to be $50/$75 again. least not for many years, and honestly Wizards will reprint them again before that happens.
I think they could hit at least 40+ before WotC reprints them again, they are not a fan of them in standard due to the ridiculous amounts of shuffling that happens over the course of a game. I mean we need the Zendikar ones reprinted next, whenever that comes then we get these again probably quite a bit further down the line. Demand is ever present on fetch lands and those that have their playsets are not very eager to give them up even if they were reprinted recently.

Keep in mind the Khan's fetches have already outperformed the Zendikar fetchlands price wise in a shorter period of time, some of that is due to play but part of it I think is people are holding onto them tighter.

I'm looking to get 4 Pack Foil Jace, Vryn's Prodigy. I'm unsure on when the best time to buy is. Typically, I'd wait for it to rotate, but given how hyped up he is in Vintage/Legacy/Modern and the fact that he's "Jace" has me worried about him. Would it be best to just get them now so I can use them in Standard in the meantime?
The card is reasonable in those formats but nowhere near as good as it is in standard, don't buy into the hype and pay for them now. They will go down the card isn't enough of a must play for blue decks. I still see Jace, Architect of Thought across the table from me in Modern more than Vryn's.

I think most of the price spike on Ugin, the Spirit Dragon was induced by Standard Ramp being the Next Big Thing of the format (come to think of it, maybe this is why the Previous Big Thing, Jace, Vryn's Prodigy, is trending down a bit?) So I wouldn't be surprised if Ugin dropped some value on rotation. He'll always be relevant as long as Tron's a thing though, so that will keep him from dipping too low.
You also have to factor in the huge casual value on the card, I have had a damn hard time trying to trade for Ugin's, no other planeswalker in standard in the past few years has been harder for me to get copies of. I think the card will be held up quite a bit by the casual demand just like say Avacyn, Angel of Hope. Obviously with how high Ugin is now he will likely see somewhat of a dip but I think it won't be a huge hit.

Right so when the exploit trigger is initially on the stack I don't have to say I am sacrificing at that time correct?

I and a friend are having a dispute about exactly how exploit works with Sidisi's Faithful. Could someone go into the details of explaining exactly how Exploit works, when the creature enters the battlefield the exploit trigger goes on the stack but how does it interact with removal in response to the trigger.

    Thanks!

After playing the deck for a while the matchups I have had the most trouble with are as follows:

    Atarka Red
    Ramp

I really think Abzan while they have hands that can punish this deck, still need to establish themselves on the board or else cards like Hallowed Moonlight or Infinite Obliteration are just annoying. It's not like this deck can't win if they remove all the Husks or Cutthroats from the deck.

Looking at your list above I think the problem you might be having is the list looks a little too mid-range, if you try the more standard lists you will likely have better results. I really am not a fan of turning this deck into some mid-range/rally deck that tries to play on both axis. Deathmist is also a nightmare to cast for the 4 color version without really warping the manabase since double green can be problematic on turn 3. The deck is still viable despite people "having it on their radar" just recently at the TCGplayer Championship series 3 Rally decks made top 8, pretty damn impressive when the deck is still only 4.65% of the meta by MTGgoldfishes prediction.

My winrate when resolving a Jace on turn 2 is quite a bit higher than when I never see one or see one late. Trust me Jace is plenty relevant in this deck and after board if your bringing in stuff like Duress or Murderous Cut his minus ability has even more targets. Crap in some cases you can loot away a rally just to flash it back later in the early turns.

so, how does this deck deal against one or two infinite obliterations? What sideboard options are there, besides Negate maybe.
I think you just beat them down at that point I have won many games by just attacking my opponent I mean a "somewhat lucky" collected company can give you say 2 Catacomb Sifters and with that much force at the end of turn your swinging in for 6 on the next turn. Obliteration is rough don't get me wrong, but they need to back that up by making sure we can't just pretend we are a mid-range/aggroish deck. The card has 0 affect on the board which is rough on a 3 mana spell, if they cast two of them in the first couple turns they have made 2 plays that don't affect the board at all.

Life is Strange is one of the most immersive games I have ever played, I went into the game with somewhat low expectations since I can't fully relate with the characters. Within no time though I was fully invested with the story and the characters were all very well done and felt real.

The game does contain some violence but its as much as you would see in countless TV shows/movies.

Oh hey, it's the newest 2-drop for Abzan Aggro...
I would be surprised if this becomes a goto 2 drop for Abzan aggro since its a 2/3 body with a marginal sacrifice affect unless your at 30+ life. I think if she shows up in the meta it will either be in some new deck or perhaps as a 1-2 of in 4 color rally.

3 Rally decks in the top 8 of SCG KC!

Matthew Tickal's build was a pretty interesting take. It is pretty close to Lee Shi Tian's list from the Super League.

At this point I'm pretty sold on running the list at SCG Denver. It has been feeling solid, but I'm debating Dispel vs Negate right now. Dispel is easier and a good way to protect a rally, but Infinite Obliteration is starting to see more play...

Yeah I am blown away at the addition of Kalastria Healer I mean the deck only has 7 Allies, I realize if you get all 7 in the graveyard a rally is instant death with or without Nantuko Husk but that seems pretty extreme. Now a more ally heavy version could make Kalastria Healer+Cutthroat a real menace in my opinion.

DTT is actually at its weakest in Standard, the earliest you can play it is turn 3, and even that is rare. Legacy/Vintage it is completely possible of being played turn 1 with the right hand.
Jace is the Real Problem iv'e seen this script before with Jace the wallet slayer. I doubt the next set will have any good answers for jace since sets are developed so far in advanced and I think wizard underestimated how good jace would be just like most players did myself included.

Yeah, when I've read articles about why WoTC didn't catch stuff like Skullclamp, and Raffinity before they went crazy it was because by the time they caught the mistakes the set was finished, heading to print, and they were already working on the next block; and this was before even the first set of the block with the problem hit the shelves. Which seems to imply they develop a set at least a full year ahead of time. So if that is true they're already working on Lock/Stock block, and Oath, Tears, and Fears are already finished and just awaiting release.
In the case of Skullclamp the real problem was the card was changed just days before it headed out the door, someone "weakened" the card by making it go for +1/+0 to +1/-1 when the equipment was on the creature.

Anyways on Topic I think there is a solid chance Jace gets the banhammer I mean we just had a Grand Prix where Jace was extremely present in the top 8.

    1) You are correct, Fire Ants hits everything without flying, but does not hit itself.
    2) Giving it flying won't allow it to damage flying creatures.
2b) It'll only damage planeswalkers if they're in creature form (Sarkhan Dragonspeaker, Gideon, Ally of Zendikar) but in those cases, they're indestructible until end of turn anyway...
Just as a minor note here Sarkhan Dragonspeaker, attacks as a flying creature so he won't be taking any damage from the fire ants. Obviously they are both indestructible so not a huge deal but just to be more accurate.

  • posted a message on Oath of the Gatewatch: Only two planeswalkers in the set
I really doubt these are reprints, we haven't had a planeswalker reprint counting only normal standard legal sets since Chandra, Pyromaster and Liliana Vess came back for Magic 2015 after showing up in previous sets.

While no core set leaves a gaping void for reprinting planeswalkers I don't think that means they will just start unleashing tons of reprinted ones into the current block structure. Especially if these planeswalkers are in the story and the new card represents their change as the story progresses. I also think people are less likely to get excited by reprinted planeswalkers and planeswalkers help sell a set, so there is that. If the set only has two and they are both reprints talk about taking a lot of fire out of the set before it even hits.
