Going to go with Rancor, too likely that the person next to me will go with the other demon and still plausible that someone goes black for murder so p2 wouldn't look too hot.
Talrand's invocation, as fun as it might be to drop Nicol Bolas it seems a bit risky to destabilise the mana base that much for shenannigans unless you get some gems of becoming and those slots could be filled otherwise. Although I guess it will depend on how fast m13 turns out.
Toss up between sleep, acidic slime and public execution for me. Which one to take probably depends on your playgroup. I would probably go for sleep since even when picking acidic slime I could see someone jumping on green for the farseek. Although it is a hard pick because execution is so splashable.
urzassedatives, my bad, Just reread the cards.
Out of curiousity as a new player, how much do you take into account what's going to get mass picked?
I mean I really like the look of WU in this set, but I expect to get W to get picked bare pretty quickly in most groups.
The demon is nice and all, but I'm just not that amazed by the other blacks in this series.
I like the Emancipation Angel, that demon is just too conditional for my liking.
You need to have enough creatures in play to really take advantage of him and when you're facing against a deck with some blink in it you're hosed.
Although the vampire is also quite a nice pick. Might even be my first pick since it is likely that a lot of people will go for white thus cutting into your pool.
I also have 3 Diregraf Captain that I was doubting to put in instead of some other creatures. I am a bit wary due to the lack of really strong hitters if things go sour but I hope to have milled them by then.
Or should I put in 2 Scaab Goliath or 2 Headless Scaab ?
I also have a Rooftop Storm and Call to Kindred that I was thinking of putting in since I have a lot of zombies. For the rest, I have some other blue/black (un)commons that I could put in to bring the amount of different creatures down.
