Just ordered mine. I was about to give up for the day when I saw that the date for Availability had changed to 10/4. Glad to see that it wasn't a total cluster.

Wizards are wisely letting the card maintain some value. It hasn't been printed since 10th edition (apart from inventions). The $65 price point would tank to $5-$10 at best as a rare. Card won't be played in standard, hardly sees any play in modern or any format for that matter other than EDH I suppose. On top of that the printings it's had have been extremely limited compared to the print sizes now. The price is still going to plummet even as a mythic.
You make it sound like Crucible of Worlds being reasonably priced is a bad thing for some reason. So what if it drops to a $5? That just means people that actually want one can get it. Also I think you're overestimating how much Core sets get opened. They are consistently one of the lowest performing sets (sales wise) every time they're printed which is part of the reason they got shelved and their mythics tend to retain a good amount of value over time.

Love the Crucible reprint. Hate the upshift to mythic. WotC doesn't pay attention to the secondary market though right. Frown

You don't think they do? I believe they exactly looked at the secondary market and wondered how they could make more money, in turn, they need to sell more packs. How do they do this? Put cards like this in at Mythic. It is simple economics. WOTC makes nothing on the secondary market and if they "give" away all the really good cards, they sell less product.

On the flip side, they didn't have to reprint this card at all and that negatively impacts the secondary market in some eyes by having cards continue to go up in price. This move keeps this card from rising and most likely since it isn't new art, will lower the price to a more reasonable level.

I have purchased several times from MTGO Traders and have always been very satisfied. Today I tried selling to them and so say that I was blown away is an understatement. I got a fantastic offer for my collection and everything was done extremely fast. I would highly recommend them if you want to buy or sell.

If you are going to let your opponent go off and do nothing those 4 turns, sure then yep, they will Ascend on turn 4 or 5. There are counter spells and removal that will deal with those play. I am also positive there will be more ways to Ascend than just this card, in fact I would say at least one per color as a cycle of Ascension makers. I would say this card was designed to deal with energy in some degree, if you want to keep your Whirling/Hydra, you are going to have to spend your energy to make some thopters to sacrifice.

Another uninteractive mechanic that my casual group who is struggling hard to keep the decks fair will have to face? After emblems and eminence? Thank you wotc...

Do you not interact with their permanents? I mean if it is such a big deal for you and your group, just ban the card from your play group. I actually like the card and look forward to both winning with and losing to it.

5 mana is a bit much for a color pair that usually wants to end games quickly,
but I'm guessing she'll work well in Naya and Mardu decks.

Turn five play her and remove 3 blockers for Mardu Vehicles. Seems pretty fast to me.

As for the enemy fetches in Battle for Zendikar, we have to remember that Zendikar did have them, but also had allied man-lands. Everyone feels as though we are going to get the enemy man-lands soon. It could be this set and make them themed to the Elder Dragons lairs or wait till the next block. If they do this, making a set with enemy fetches and enemy man-lands seems over kill AND would go against their design strategy of trying to keep things balanced.

I recently saw a deck box holder that looked like a book, it was made out of wood and would hold between 8-12, though I am pretty sure it was 10 of the regular 80 card deck boxes by Ultra Pro. I can not seem to find it anywhere in my history. Does anyone happen to have seen this and can shoot me a link if they do find it? It was selling for $65.00

    Thanks

So let me get this straight. A card is not good if it dies to removal? Do you only play hexproof cards? I wish people would look outside the box on card evaluation and not pigeon-hole themselves in card selection, because most cards in MTG do in fact die to removal.

The gods are indestructible and many other cards make an impact because they have etb effects. Why don't learn something bout mtg fore commenting.

But if either actual work in constructed I guess you will know something eh.

You caught me. I know nothing of Magic, how to evaluate a card, let alone wait to see what other cards get released before emphatically issuing the death knell for two cards. I mean they do die to removal.

Do I think these two cards are going to blow the doors off standard? Not yet, but that doesn't mean you don't give it the old college try. Looking at a few cards already I can see the makings for a Bant control deck that would be murder to play against. You just hold out till you set up everything you need for an infinite turn combo on turn 6. Everything is subjective and requires the right cards and decisions to be made. Decks do not simply play themselves anymore since Bloodbraid Jund rotated out.

I believe that the reason Theros created a lot of new decks is that it had to. We just had 4 sets rotate out. This type meta game shift always happens in October. I will 100% agree with you that Born of the Gods dropped a deuce in terms of the amount of good/playable cards for Standard. Hopefully the cards that are in there will see more play as this set gets revealed. I know that playing a Bant control list with Kiora looks appealing to try and brew for me at least.
