Both the Sage and the Ajani die to Heroes Downfall so both won't make any impact. I can't see any of the bestow creatures being good enough to overcome the drawbacks. Better Please!
So let me get this straight. A card is not good if it dies to removal? Do you only play hexproof cards? I wish people would look outside the box on card evaluation and not pigeon-hole themselves in card selection, because most cards in MTG do in fact die to removal.
Unfortunately Quizzle does not see this and only sees Exava. If you build the correct deck in the black red colors, then Mogis can become quite playable. There are quite a few listed above. Turn 4 you could very easily have devotion to 7, keeping it... sure that could be tough but the pressure is forcing that blue white player to use azorious charm to put a card back on top of your deck, a creature that probably has haste. Now this blue white player is not cycling the card like they want or need. That is how you generate advantage by making your opponent play a different game than they want.
Quizzle I would counter that Exava is just as unplayable as Mogis because we simply do not see any of her on day 2 of any tournaments.
The way I see it, she dies way to easy other cards in the format, or blocked by creatures her size or larger. Playing Mogis will push you into diffferent deck building, but if you want to to play your altered Mogis thrashing out with his guitar win or lose, as long as you had fun, to most people that is what Magic is about.
Personally I see this card fitting better in a mid range deck, but I suspect to see it in agro.
it is just not board wipes, I think you have no idea how hard it is to actually have 7 devotion on board.
And if you are an aggro deck with that kind of devotion you should already be winning anyway.
Exava is simply a better 4 drop for that kind of deck.
Currently Black, Blue, and Red mono color decks do it all the time.
Look at Omen speaker vs Frostburn weird, 1 extra devotion. For the exact same CMC. There are several cards available to help facilitate the extra devotion. You just need to want to go that route.
If you want to play Exava, play it, no one is stopping you. If people want to extrapolate with the cards currently known, let them. It is brewing that will lead to the new decks that will take hold and shape the meta game.
The one thing that is certain is that there will be new decks that emerge from BNG that will see feature matches and top finishes shortly after release.
I am stating facts that everyone should know that played standard after theros. When Theros was spoiled people overrated the gods as well disregarding that the getting online part is what makes each god playable in the first place.
If people want to play a Black/Red aggro or mid range deck there will be plenty of options to be able to turn Mogis into a creature. The question will be if the rest of BNG will provide enough to make it a good deck at Opens. I see cards like frostburn weird and shredfreak as great enablers.
If you are worried about boardwipes, play main deck slaughter games and remove them and then on turn 5 tear it up. That is the great thing about magic, there is typically always a counter point to a single play. We just need to remeber that.
I was actually thinking of Chandra being the card that bumps since she can ping for 1 and make that creature unable to block.
Agreed, she will be more playable for sure, especially in an Izzet control type of deck. Using both of those planeswalkers and Nykthos...there are some crazy things that could happen.
Ok add green to this deck with Kiora Atua and green's mana ramp ability. My creative juices are flowing.
They do deck checks at bigger tournaments. You will be disqualified and possibly banned if you falsify your deck. Now for FNM where local game shops don't do that, sure it can happen. That is when I pick up a chair and smash it across their back ala Mick Foley.
Thanks for backing me BB18.
@uzishra; Magic isnt a sport and doesnt deserve sport-type rings.
And Im not judging, I'm speaking from expierience:
Get the idea??? I'm not making stereotypes, I'm simply pointing things out.
A quick trip to http://www.m-w.com will show you what the "true" definition of the word means, not what you or other people want it to be.
