    You're right.
And I think we should keep our mind open to switching our red to blue if the second pack still has blue open.

Quite the bad pack. The blue rare looks strong, I wonder what other blue was in this pack to make this card not being picked yet. It's not a first pick, but 8 seems late.

If we want to stay on color, it's either diregraf escort, which may enable flowering lumberknot, or demolish for the sideoard.

    I'm not enthousiastic either way.

    Quote from Rubin
GW midrange is a very real deck. It doesn't do anything in particular (apart from "soulbound", but that's kind of moot unless you have Flowering Lumberknot). It's just a very solid defensive (or aggressive depending on build) deck.

Very true, I've been impressed with GW too.
Green is very good at stalling the board until the white flyers come into play.
And then the green soulbonders can relink to those flyers for a fast ending.

He's quite ok. If you can link him with a Seraph, she becomes alot more powerful.
However: white has many good higher costed cards, so I don't think he'll always make the maindeck. Dropping a new big flyer is better than giving the existing one vigilance...

If he does make the deck though, he's never a bad draw.

    Silverblade Paladin.
    He's a major bomb.
Combine him with Nearheath Pilgrim and it's GG if your opponent doesn't have removal.
I once played a Zealous Strike on a vanilla 2/2 and blocked a 8/8 Wolfir Silverheart to death in first strike with the paladin, the pilgrim and the 2/2.
Result: one dead Wolfir silverheart and 4 lifes for me Grin

I can certainly live with the Vorstclaw pick.

Thanks for my new sig bateleur, I really needed one Grin

Edit: I just hope we won't push our neighbour into red by passing the guise

Is Guise of Fire really that bad?
It seems decent to me: or you kill straight away or you force it to attack so you can block it to death.
The only creatures that don't get killed are ones who have a tap-ability (in which case you force opponent to use it each turn on own turn) or that can't be blocked profitably.

I understand that Vorstclaw is good, but the set is sooo low on removal and the best red removal will be splashed and early picked by others.

Oh and by the way, I'm gay so your argument is invalid :p

It looks to me that there are 3 possible picks in this pack: flowering lumberknot, vorstclaw or guise of fire.
Removal is removal, so I vote Guise of Fire.
One of the creatures might even wheel here.

I will do the tagging and bolding when I'm on a computer, it's a pain on blackberry Smile

Sheltering Word can be nice, but I feel it's a dead card too often.
It looks like most removal comes in the form of combat tricks targeting your own creatures in this format.

Holy Justiciar is an expensive tapper, but a tapper is a tapper and can change a stall to a win.
for now: vote Holy Justiciar, but I might change my mind if someone sees a good reason for taking sheltering word.

@Bateleur: 'regret' is too strong a word, but if we switch to white now, we missed some nice cards by taking green earlier Smile

The green and red cards in this pack are a little underwhelming.

I think both white cards are the best ones here.
I regret the choice for green now, white seems open indeed.

I don't see any card in this pack making the cut, so signalling seems correct.

I wouldn't mind playing one, but don't be mad if I fail then Wink
But yes, Bateleur definately has my vote.

I agree with green being the correct choice here.
The white cards are good but they're imo not a signal that white is open.
Green on the other hand seems wide open.

However, isn't nightshade peddler a better pick than Vorstclaw?
I've seen him do insane things in sealed, and red can give him first strike.

    for now: vote: Nightshade Peddler
