Man is this an old thread lol, came across it looking for something else regarding Squee's toy, but i'll provide my insight from reading the books and being an avid player of the game and what not. I feel like Squee was inherently immortal before Crovax claimed Yawgmoth made a gift of him (Squee) for Crovax to kill over and over again. The reason I think this is because of his card in MM, which has you returning Squee to your hand from the graveyard at the beginning of your upkeep was a whole block before the Invasion and implies that he is already immortal. I feel like Squee's Toy, which is the Salvation Sphere (piece of the Legacy) has a part to play with this and somehow augmented Squee's soul. I just don't see how Yawgmoth could make Squee functionally immortal outside of Phyrexia, why not do this with all his minions? I think , like others have mentioned, that Yawgmoth realized Squee was immortal, couldn't obliterates him out of existence, and just gave him to Crovax to "deal" with. So yeah, I think Squee already possessed immortality, and I think it had something to do with the Sphere resonating with his soul somehow.
Hey guys, I recently bought a few Duals , and this Badlands was the first to come in, and while I've been playing the game a LONG time , i have extraordinary minimal experience in determining what's a real or fake card. It passes the light test, but I have no clue about the patterns on older cards. I've added some close ups i took with my phone, and some scans. Let me know what you all think
Those were my thoughts on Hulk as well. Too much to do to enable efficiency. I felt Paradox Engine was an auto include, imo, but likewise have yet to draw it. I've recently also gone a 100% Sliver route, but boy does Vizier of the Menagerie make me want to make an exception 😃
Guys, just got my Brago deck together after much deliberation and I have a question regarding Lightform + Cloudform and Brago's blink trigger. When he blinks those 2 auras, do they manifest the top card upon entering the battlefield again?
I don't know what they were thinking with the horrific Core set Sliver. I remember reading somewhere they felt they had ran out of ideas for what new Slivers could look like, so we got these Predatoresque looking abominations. I'm not sure how Wizards could even say that, when there was an alter artist I came across on a MTG FB page who did alters on a few of the Core Slivers to revert them to their original Sliver glory, and they looked amazing. Also, why did Sliver Hive have the original Slivers depicted on the art?
I hope whenever we end up back on Dominaria we see the original and ONLY Slivers again. I feel that the flavor text on Sliver Legion hinted at a nascent Queen.
I totally agree that in order to make a competitive Sliver deck, you need to choose from among the best cards available in all colors of Magic, and why not when your General is 5 colors? I feel that a full Sliver build is too fragile because people will simply nuke your board. I also agree on your stance on combos and if you're not playing combos in Sliver you're never going to win in competitive play groups. I recently cut down on rocks to just [[Cromatic Lantern]] and ramp via enchantments and creatures, and it's worked well. Finally, Crystal Quarry is bad
If it was between those two versions, i'd choose Ulamog over the Kozfather due to the fact there is plenty of draw power in green vs. spot removal. I actually run Newlamog though because exiling 2 permanents is flat out amazing.
I've been running Spike Weaver for years and he will always have a slot in my deck! He is also very political creature to run. "I'll fog for you, if you do this for me...", or "if you swing at me, i'll just fog..." lol. He should be in every mono-G deck, just too good.
If you're going to run Tireless Tracker, you have to think about trying Tamiyo's Journal with it. Idk if i can make room for either in my list right now, but the Journal has peaked my interest a bit.
What do you guys think about Seasons Past? I'm definitely giving this a test run because it seems like pure advantage, and it goes to the bottom?! With all the shuffle effects that happen in edh, chances are we see it again sooner than later. I didn't really see anything else in Shadows that jumped out at me for Green, how about you guys?
I added some pump slivers, Sinew Sliver, Muscle Sliver, as well as Door of Destinies. I think winning through lethal, especially commander lethal, needs to be a main strategy because it can happen fast with Slivers - especially with Virulent Sliver, which I've also added.
I also added Idyllic Tutor, Demonic Tutor, Worldly Tutor, and Eladamri's Call. It's a five color deck, not having tutors to call up for answers or pieces to reinforce your board state is just silly. For running 38 lands, I was also experiencing a low amount of land drops, surprisingly with the amount of lands I run, so I added Hunting Wilds and Oracle of Mul Daya for some extra bit of ramp.
I also added some non-sliver creatures - Sun Titan because with so many 3 cmc or less permanents in this deck, he's just TOO good. I liked the idea of Treasury Thrull, but I realized he's too slow. Scavenging Ooze is a must because I play in a meta that likes to abuse graveyards. I'm also giving Alesha, Who Smiles at Death a shot because being able to recur Slivers, even during combat, is pivotal. The ability to bounce back from a board wipe with Patriarch's Bidding will no doubt be crucial (not sure why I decided to remove it from my original build), and Temur Ascendancy with the pump Slivers, Door of Destinies and other pump effects will be card draw that is sorely needed.
I also added Hivestone for the non-sliver creatures, but I was tossing around the idea of Conspiracy. What do you guys think? The cons vs. Hivestone is the higher CMC, but I think other than that it's all positives. It allows you to tutor for Slivers with Overlord and Urza's Incubator and Patriarch's Bidding will also apply to those same creatures.
Also, I'm concerned about ramp a little. What are some good ramp cards, besides rocks, that you guys like? Oracle is a surefire shot I feel and I was also looking at Into the Wilds, but I feel that card needs something such as Mirri's Guile, Top, or Crystal Ball to really make it effective.
Let me know what you guys think about these changes and suggestions are always welcome
PS treasury thrull seems LOLs and I feel like trying to find room to include him in my build, Just wondering if he always dies before he gets to swing in for it's ability to trigger. Bident of thassa seems dopes too
You just gotta set him up to make sure he isn't being removed Make him a part of your Hive with Unnatural Selection and give him all the benefits of being a Sliver! Hivestone also works wonders for that. I've been thinking of trying out Alesha, Who Smiles at Death because so many of our Slivers are power 2 or less.
Bident of Thassa is great! Especially with all the forms of evasion our Slivers can get. The passive ability definitely can cause some wreckage on those opponents who want to just hang back with their creatures.
I'm not 100% sold on Grave Pact yet and it might hit the chopping block. I haven't really had enough testing with it yet, but when it's out there and you start sac'ing slivers to [[Basal Sliver]], or any other sac enabler, it really shines.
Treasury Thrull is a champ! I was using Sun Titan, but he just didn't feel right in a Sliver deck to me. The Thrull gets back any cmc artifact, creature, or enchantment (extort is nice too) and he can easily become one with the Hive via Unnatural Selection to reap all the benefits of the swarm
I hope whenever we end up back on Dominaria we see the original and ONLY Slivers again. I feel that the flavor text on Sliver Legion hinted at a nascent Queen.

I agree with you on Privileged Position lol, something about the card just makes you instantly threatening. I might swap it out for Steely Resolve or Asceticism.
