I took tarmo-twin to finals in states only losing 1 game in the top 4; every other game was swiftly won 2-0. After this event I absolutely think tarmo-twin is the best variant. The tarmogoyfs just pulled so much weight(and the post board thrun). Later when I have time I'll post my list.

Have you guys tried an ashiok yet? He is insane against any creature based decks. He has singlehandedly won me games against rug delver by just taking their goyf and eating a bolt gaining me lots of card advantage. It's a hard to deal with walker coming in at 5 loyalty and stealing things in legacy costs only 1 or 2 mana. It's terrible against combo but even against control they have to answer it or they will lose their hand.

Makes heroic an actual thing in limited for starters. Doubt it's constructed quality highly.

After some serious testing I actually like my pre m14 list with just doom blade and a single chandra. After comparing results from countless hours of testing I have concluded that lifebane zombie is not worth it in the main or side until appetite for brains rotates out.

We could just run o-ring for 3 months as anti-burning earth tech that's also good against a lot of other random problem cards, makes a lot more sense than devoting 2 sideboard slots against rdw that when drawn and they don't have the card do nothing.

The problem is that Purge sucks in an Aggro MU.

So it's less good than RR in the MUs that you want the effect against and near unplayable in the MU that you want the small amount of life gain against.

But it hedges against it mainboard instead of having a simpy bad card. I see the merit in that, but I still personally prefer RR because of all the midrange running around. I'm not saying I agree with purge, but there is merit and its not ZOMG bad terrible.

Your "point" seemed to just be some ranting and raving that was hardly worth reading, much less responding to.

Sorry if your feelings are hurt because we were mean to you, but some people can be reasoned with and you are not one of those people. That's why after 100+ pages of reasoning you were still insisting that a garbage card was better than a proven alternative.

You dig your heels in on every single issue, but you've been wrong before (like how you argued vehemently with me that Blood Barron was unplayable trash but now play 4) and you're wrong now.

Purge is not a good card. You can either get the exact same relevant part of the spell for 1 colored mana less or you can get a better spell that scales for 1 colored mana different. There's no reason to play it unless the 2 life is relevant in a large percentage of your games - more relevant than playing the spell for less or dealing damage/discarding more cards/killing planeswalkers.

Can we stop directing the argument at certain people and instead just talk about the card in context. Personally I use rakdos return, HOWEVER, I do see the merits of using purge in an Aggro heavy meta which is where we are at right now. Both cards have their uses. If someone wants to run purge let them, if someone wants to run rakdos return let them. Run what you want, it's not set in stone by what someone else says.

won't burning earth hurt you just as much as them?

No. We have lifelink and we only need 1 threat at a time.

I'm going to post now that all this nonsense has stopped. Mindsparker as a singleton almost as a 5th reckoner is actually pretty good. I really like it so far. It stonewalls a lot of things. Olivia is now definitely my 4 drop of choice because of doom blade but I actually like desecration demon a lot as well. Singleton Chandra is good as well. Two burning earth in the sideboard to slam against control if they tap out is good game. It's literally absurd how good it is against them.

The reason is like the war dude is because he is a 3 drop that is relevant against Aggro midrange and still retains value against control. That's relevant in 2.5 of matches instead of two so he is just better all around but could be the first thing we side out. Think of it this way:
Nighthawk is 10/10 against aggro 8/10 against midrange and probably 5-4/10 against control.
Reckoner is 10/10 against Aggro and midrange while still being 5-4/10 against control.
Sin collector is 2/10 against Aggro 8-9/10 against midrange and 10/10 against control
Meanwhile wardude is 9/10 against Aggro, 9/10 against midrange and still 7-8/10 against control.

He can be not the best in any one matchup but hedges against all of them. Against control I would easily rather have haste, but first strike makes it very relevant real threat and blocker against midrange and aggro.

I'm not discussing in a vacuum. Right now the red one is much better in this meta.

I think whene everything rotates out mindsparker and boros reckoner will both be 4 of's. the white hatedude has nothing on the red guy. The white one is terrible against midrange. He is basically worse than nighthawk, while the red guy trades with reckoner and kills tusk. Shocks means nothing right now because of pillar of flame. We need ways to kill voice so pillar will be the go to spell at least until it rotates.

The thing about mindsparker is he is a 3 drop that is not only damaging against control but also relevant against Aggro and midrange being a 3/2 first striker which is good against everything. All our other 3 drops are basically good against 2 of the 3 but he is good against everything which is just flat out amazing from a 3 drop. Proxy it up and run it through the gauntlet. It's really really really really good. Even if it damages them for 2 with azorius charm just leaving it up means every spell they use to try to draw it every time they counter they take 2. That can add up quick especially with a 3 dmg guy getting in there past snaps and augurs.

After testing the black hatedude I have to admit that I'm disappointed for now. Kahmal is completely correct in saying that appetite, for while it is in standard, is the better card for the deck.

I think all three hate guys are very good. that's said they are going to be very meta specific requiring you to predict what decks your going to face. I like the red one the most as a three power first striker for three mana is sweet.

That's what I thought. He's most reliable mainboard out of all 3. He can stonewall Aggro, stonewall tusk, trade with reckoner and can be a ridiculous threat to control if they don't deal with him fast he swings for 3 and hits em for 2 every time they play a draw spell since they don't normally have to deal with our 3 drop.

Edit: that said, at the beginning of the format I think I'm going to stay with nighthawk for now, but this red hate thing is the real deal.
