I did play some games with this list but made the change of sifter to veil and this list is very strong. I haven't hit Veil yet because usually I have already won or very close to it. I almost wonder if Veil or flip lilly in your list shouldn't be another mana dork or a removal creature of some sort.
Is that the only card your missing? If so yes it's fine you don't get to use it to grab vintage rock turn 1 but it still grabs most your late game cards cheap and can grab wheels early go -1 to turn it into demonic tutor if you need to and can be a game ending tutor with a cabtrip late via yawgwin doomsday minds desire. But if you have every other card a single replacement can be almost any good card nothing I'm not running is as good seal but if your at 99/100 cards your close enough personal tutors fine so is random mana rock so is budget cantrip IE serum visions flusterstorm arcane denial goblin elevtramancer but if you really want a cool add I have recently been testing dack feydan after playing tons of vintage and I am really liking that card so far I think someone even suggested it a long time ago and I never tried it but it's been surprisingly good
yeah that's the only card I don't have thanks for the quick response and thorough reply. Expected no less from you Mox
Mox been following for some time I have built your Jund storm and been playing it sooo fun. I like this list as well and want to play it too but like the Jund list I just can't afford the Imperial Seal. Can you make a suggestion on a good replacement card? Thanks in advance
Edit: Do you think Personal Tutor would be a good replacement for Seal?
I have played my version quite a few times and now all that happens is I get targeted first no matter what else happens because I can win out of nowhere. Anybody else have the same feeling or story?
I think it's gotta to be difficult to ramp at all with Serra's Sanctum. Most of your enchantments aren't exactly cheap, and by the time you get multiple enchantments into play, it seems like you don't really benefit that much from the extra mana..now if this was a Bant-enchantment deck with Wild Growth, Utopia Sprawl, etc.
Is there a reason why you prefer Chromatic Lantern over Coalition Relic?
I would say that Sanctum is fine as this deck is more of a card advantage deck than a ramp deck. Lantern over Relic. I chose lantern because I needed fixing as if you look through the list there are double mana in all 3 colors so I felt that fixing was better. Lantern and Greed is amazing
yes I am aware and it is evil. Honestly this whole deck is... so Rings might make it in as well as Chain Veil... just wondering if my land count is a little small for such a mana intensive deck. all 3 colors have tons of double mana symbols.
1)Dread Return is a pretty decent reanimator spell because it costs CMC 4 and has a good flashback cost - putting more creatures in the yard so that I can recur them again. That's something that has been very valuable for me, because you can sacrifice the guy you want to reanimate as part of the casting cost of Dread Return's flashback. So that's pretty cool.
Minor point, since most of this thread seems to have moved past this card, but it's worth mentioning that you cannot reanimate one of the creatures you sacrificed as part of the cost. Targets are chosen before costs are paid, at which time your creature wouldn't be a valid target.
I have some questions about a few card choices from the OP's list.
1) Death Rattle - I get that delving away chaff is important. Totally on board with Murderous Cut and DTT. But this seems like a stretch. Not being able to hit an opponent's prophet/seedborn/tasigur/derevi/avenger/etc seems like a huge liability. Why not a consistently cheaper removal spell like Go for the Throat?
2) Urborg/Coffers - I see this combo and Intuition but no Life From the Loam to complete the package. No Crucible either. I only see Tempt with Discovery (Edit: and Crop Rotation). Do people in your meta actually give you more than one land? And if so, are they seriously not tutoring up strip mine? This duo seems overly fragile in this configuration.
3) Birds/DRS/Kiora's Follower - I don't really see the point of the dorks in lieu of spell-based ramp. DRS doubles as grave hate, so that's fine. But the other two seem odd. They're also exceptionally weak Tasigur targets later in the game if they happen to end up in your graveyard.
3) Sword of Feast and Famine - this seems out of place in a deck that aims to win via combo or attrition and already has two cards that untap every turn. I would almost prefer a Time Warp effect over this, just to add yet another contingency plan.
4) Underworld Connections / Rhystic Study - have you tried Mystic Rhemora in either of these slots? It consistently overperforms in almost all my blue decks, and I'd be 100% okay getting it back with Tasigur at any point in the game. I also really hate effectively stone raining myself for Underworld Connections.
5) Isochron Scepter - seems like an easy way to get 2-for-1'ed way before you get any kind of value out of it. Even if you live the dream of imprinting Mana Drain with a Seedborn in play, that's the kind of ***** that gets krosan gripped instantaneously. I know this is kind of a dies to doom blade argument, I just hate imprint cards because they're such a magnet for removal.
6) The Pacts - Pact of Negation is a staple and a necessary risk. I think the other two start to get a bit cavalier, though. Does nobody cast Armageddon/Contamination/Winter Orb/Stasis/Hokori/Static Orb/Rising Waters/Ruination/etc? I may be nit-picking at this point, but it seems like an easy way to lose the game if stax is prevalent in your meta, as it is in mine.
Overall I really like the list, and this thread has been an interesting read.
1) I face a ****ton of black and blue creatures in my meta, and very few game-ending green ones. Not hitting Prophet/Seedborn/Derevi is fine in a delve kill-spell that filters my graveyard, prevents regeneration, and notably *does* hit Tas (he is black, just has UG in his color identity), Nin, Baleful Force, Mike/Trike, etc. The downside is far, far less relevant than the downside on, say, Snuff Out.
2) They almost never give me more than one land, but I rarely find myself using this card for anything other than 4cmc: helle fix my mana. As for the Urborg/Coffers combo, I'm just playing it as an admittance that my deck really ******* needs mana, at the cost of putting in high risk cards like this. Coffers is often the worst land in my deck.
3) It was solid, but its been cut.
4) I've been playing decks with Remora for years, just couldn't find mine. It is in the list alongside those two. I'd like to note that due to Kiora's Follower, Prophet, Muse, Palinchron, and whatever other untap effects I may play, Underworld Connections is by far the best of my draw-enchantments, functioning as a super-phyrexian arena.
5) Cut. It was for an attempt at Beacon of Tomorrows+Mystical Tutor combo, which was just okay.
6) The pacts are so, so huge. The black one means that Tasigur's ability can also function as a doom blade, if one of my opponents has a must-answer threat like Prophet or Deadeye Navigator; just have an opponent give me the Slaughter Pact. The green one is both super offensive and defensive, tutoring my own Prophet or grabbing a Mystic Snake at instant speed, for an easy counterspell. Negation is an obvious one, but just like the other two, the simple power of having so many free spells helps fuel the deck. Its incredibly hard for other players to fight back against the threat of all of these, and they all give Tasigur their text in a pseudo-fashion. I'll admit that Summoner's Pact is the weakest, but having the extra counterspell thats also a tutor is nice, and if I'm prophetting around the board and having 9+ mana on every turn, I don't care about paying the four on mine. Its totally worth.
