Creature spells you control can't be the target of spells or abilities your opponents control. (Spells are only on the stack.)
Creatures you control can't be the targets of spells or abilities your opponents control. "The elves thought long and hard about how they would slay the slagwurm, but the memories of their victories were long forgotten."
I submit to you poets out there...
Hanzo, Master Steelcrafter2WWW
Legendary Creature-Human Samurai (Rare)
Bushido 2 2W : Search your library for an
equipment card with converted mana cost three or less. Reveal
that card and put it into play.
2/4
Target Goblin gains flying until end of turn.
Cycling 2RR (discard this card from your hand. Draw a card.)
When you cycle Goblin Flight Training, Goblins you control gain
flying until end of turn. At end of turn, sacrifice all creatures you
control that attacked or blocked this turn.
"The Goblin Flight Academy recorded hundreds of graduates this year. However, none could be reached for comment."
Onslaught featured Goblin Sky Raider, and of course Cycling.
As a cheap instant, who wouldn't want to send their Piledriver
flying at their opponents face? If you cycle it, GFT can trigger
the sharpshooter a bunch of times for some tapping fun!
My card for November Round 1. Sorry, I don't know how to get rendered art for it.
Cracked Colidascope4

2 : Remove target card in your graveyard from
the game. Spells you play with the same name as a card removed
this way cost 3 less to play.
T : Add one mana of any color to your mana pool.
"What do you see through the cracked colidascope? Your future, your past, or your doom?"
The idea was to turn this card into different spells, like turning a colidascope, changing the image you see. Imprint was too complicated, and I couldn't figure out how to make it work by copying the spells either. So here it is, I hope this makes sense.
Destiny 1GU
Enchantment Rare
When Destiny comes into play name a
nonland card.
At the beginning of your upkeep reveal
the top card of your library. If that card
is the named card you may play that
card without paying its mana cost, if not,
put that card on the bottom of your library.
"The war was lost without Empirion. It was
only when she arrived that the tide turned
in our favor."
Usher of Light 1WWW
Creature-Human Monk (Rare)
Protection from White
All colored mana symbols on all cards in play,
cards in hands, cards in libraries, and cards in
graveyards are white. Whenever a white spell
is played you may gain one life.
1/4
(B)(B),(T): Each creature you do not control gets -4/-4
Until end of turn.
Whenever Demented Coroner deals combat damage
to a creature, sacrifice it.
(B)(B)(B): Return Demented Coroner from your graveyard
to play. Play this ability only as a sorcery.
Yeah, sorry, you guys were right about the state based thing. But aside from undercosted, overpowered, and broken ideas of red and/or black istant land destruction. Wilted Heartland is pretty good, and it could even be printable because it is balanced (resets the game equally for both players)
If that doesn't make you happy then how about this: (a redo)
Defended Passage
Land (Rare)
If a spell or effect would cause Defended Passage
to leave play, remove that spell or effect from the
game. (It has no effect)
Whenever a land comes into play under your control
Remove all nonland permanents, hands, and graveyards
from the game. Each players life total becomes 10.
"They say that when Empirion fell on the battlefield, the creatures, the insects, even nature itself, mourned her passing."
Stifle will work. But the other stuff won't. Even those goofy
instants. This however is a little more situational. Basically the
next land you play will reset the game. Any comments or help
with this idea are welcome. Just be nice fella's.
Just for humor's sake. Based on the flavor text of my thread submission.
Empirion, The Gatekeeper 3WUBRG
Legendary Creature-Druid
Empirion can't be countered.
Empirion can't be the target of spells or abilities.
WUBRG: Remove target permanent from the game.
If that permanent is a creature card, put a token into
play under your control that is a copy of that card.
"Your life will be a tithe to me, owed, and unrewarded."
p/t= 4/7
This will be a little crazy to understand if you don't know the timing rules or how the stack works. This should counter everything in this thread as lands do not use the stack, The only card that could stop it is a cycled Decree of Annihilation. Not even a stifle will work as it is a state based effect. Just play the land during your second main phase and say go.
Wilting Heartland
Land (Rare)
Wilting Heartland comes into play tapped unless you pay 5 life.
Wilting Heartland cannot be the target of spells or abilities.
At the end of turn, if Wilting heartland is untapped remove all permanents, hands, and graveyards from the game. Then each player's life total becomes 10.
"They say that when Empirion fell on the battlefield, the creatures, the insects, even nature itself, mourned her passing."
