Lol that too, but I always figured flavor-wise he could use all 5 colors so any other planewalker would just need 7 mana to call him unlike lets say Liliana who need some black mana or Vraska needs some green and black mana to be summoned.

The substitution of some abilities and the addition of living weapon and infect changes the effect of each item quite a bit.
I think it's like comparing Blightsteel Colossus and Darksteel Colossus. The new version has to be close so that you know what it was before the corruption set in.
Basically this is what I did. Originally only the helm had Phyrexian mana but it looked weird if the others didn't.
Making these Living Weapons is pretty cool. I like the new abilities, and the Phyrexian equip costs are both a bit odd and exactly what I was expecting, if that makes sense.

I also like how this flavory shows how different the simic are this time around. Instead but grafting and forcing an evolution they semi-naturally evolve (i think they use magic to boost themselves but only when the creature feels "threaten". I think it also shows a side of (G/U) we haven't see before; the need to be better then those around you with strength for green and intelligence for blue.
I don't see why all of the cycles wouldn't make a return in gatecrash. In fact I think it would be unfair for the fans of the gatecrash guilds to not have the same cycles. I know the charms and key runes will return so why not the others
But they will have their own cycles. Plus W/B can't do uncountable where as R/G does and blue gets some as it is the counter color.

She knew that If she tried to talk more her father would just get more angry. Ever since the world woke, when the lands had become vicious elementals and avatars, her father had been keeping a tighter hold on all of the family. Though they haven't built a home in the large mountains of Akoum, they have yet to leave each other company. Before she and her brother Drozna would explore places for weeks before re-meeting their father. But after the since the element of that was formed from the cliffs and forest attacked her and Drozna and had take her brothers arm and scarred her shoulder to her right breast, their father had make them stick together. Talie knew the truth however. Her father was scared. He had bought a history book from a traveling menfolk and he couldn't find anything similar to what was going on. Then Talie had suggested they travel through the Ogre mountains but her father won't have it.
That night Talie snuck out taking only her hook and the pendent her father had given her at birth. If her father won't listen she'd just have to leave and hope her family will follow. She threw her hook high and started to climb up the steep cliffs. As she climbed she noticed wired markings all over cliff as if someone had poured paint all over it. Suddenly she felt a tug on her rope. And then she felt herself flying up and up over the cliff. An ugly pink face greeted her as she realized she had flown but had been pull up the cliff. The ogres quickly tied Talie and carried her to a cave. Touches blazed brightly showing Talie the hugh ogre standing in the center of the cave. The ogre grunted and talked in distorted words that Talie couldn't understand expect for two "Hail Kazuul". Talie tried to reach out for the far off floating plains trying to draw enough white mana to activate her pendent. With enough mana it would send out a wave of light and hopefully knock out the ogres. She pulled and pull and the pendent started to glow. But that was all she could use, unable to use the red mana of the cliffs around her. The ogre leader, Kazuul she guessed, came over and took off the glowing stone from around her neck. He looked at her and growled two world that echoed through the cave.
"Tribute excepted" and with that Talies ropes where cut and the ogres left.
What's Salvage and Delve? I think you mean scavenge and dredge. Also, it should read "Creature cards" and you could get rid of the awkward hybrid mana cost by simply making the Scavenge cost equal to the mana cost.
Thought strike also should read "target creature you don't control" as all Overload spells do. Makes it a bit weaker though. It's also the weakest mechanical fit, but that is to be expected since Replicate and Overload essentially do the same thing.
Azorius Sphinx Rider has a weird flavor. I doubt Sphinxes would let anyone ride them, let alone put themselves as mounts for military service. I would also make the additional effect of it something beside just continuing the upkeep trigger for free to further the tension between casting it or keeping it in the hand to continue the forecast ability. Maybe something that works in conjuction with the detain ability.

I don't think Dragon's Maze will have a cycle of lands at all. Constructed will already have plenty of mana fixing by the time the set rolls around, and for limited there will also be enough mana fixing from RTR and GTC in the draft format, which should be easier to pick up since in the latter boosters people will already know their mana requirements and pass more easily on unneeded mana-fixing.
I also think WOTC would want to pack Dragon's Maze with goodies for the guilds, and since they have to service all 10 guilds with only 156 available cards I don't think they will waste space on what appears to me as unnecessary mana-fixing.
That said, the design as it stands now is fine, if a little boring and probably disappointing to players opening them in boosters in a block where there are duals abound.
