Not only does that comic contradict Test of Metal, none of the characters have mentioned the events that happen in the novel at later points (Jace had a whole novella about him for Returrn to Ravnica and didn't mention any thing that happened in Test of Metal) and clock walking has never been talked about since. Wizards hasn't said its not canon (that I have seen) but they seem to be ignoring it.

Well this clears some things up, Alara and Zendikar will still have a "Sarkhan" in them and events will go the exact same as before for those planes.

The only reason the gods of theros were portrayed so powerful is because Theros was relatively isolated from the multiverse. They never really seen walkers or transdimensional being of great magnitude. And since much of their magic stems from believing in their gods, then that makes sense if there aren't many creatures stronger than them.
to further complicate this, the most powerful of their number is already wary of the rogue's gallery. Bolas and the Eldrazi especially make Kruphix sweat.

Is Kruphix really the most powerful though? I know he's the oldest, but do we have confirmation that he's also more powerful than the mono-coloured gods, that were always described as the main ones?

Well he did stop Heliod and Purphrose fighting each other, lobotomized Purphrose knowledge of how to forge godsend and forced the other 13 gods back into Nyx during the silence.

Ajani was only able to create the "avatar Bolas" to beat Bolas because he used some of the conflux mana that Bolas hadn't used and basically used Bolas own power against himself. Seems like it was a one time deal.

Test of Metal is non-cannon so I don't think you can use that as an example. I only brief read it, but I recall Tezzeret godly powers where limited to the etherium pocket dimension.

We can say with some confidence that the Theros gods have power that is at best slightly greater than most neo-walkers. Elspeth totally resists Heliod's magic and I think there was a UR where Ashiok manipulates Phenax or Ephara.

    I doubt this is true.

First off, the gods are gods in a very literal sense. It stands to reason that they have a very great control over their specific domain (on Theros). If they are at the power level of the neowalkers, they simply wouldn't be gods.

And yet Elspeth, who is not particularly powerful, easily stops Heliod from incinerating her early in the Theros book. Thassa obviously sees Kiora as a legitimate threat and rival, not someone who can be easily gotten rid of. If the Theroes gods are more powerful than neowalkers it isn't by very much. They could probably overpower Domri or Tibalt but experienced walkers are repeatedly shown dealing with the Theros gods as equals.

No its because the Theros gods only know Theros magic, where as planeswalkers can lean spells from all the different planes. Only reason Elspeth was able to protect herself from Heliod was because she used a protection spell that Heliod had never seen before and didn't know now to break.

As for Kiora/Thasssa fight it isn't Thassa vs Kiora, its Thassa vs Kiora and an army of sea monsters including a karen the size of a city and we don't even know yet how that fight ended

Do we have confirmation that the Dragon Storms will still be active when Ugin slumbers? It was implied in the first timeline, the storms ceased to exist, but it took a while for the dragons to be hunted to extinction. Ugin's slumber might have similar effects. This way, Vol, if he exists in 1.1, will have the same motivation to repeat everything Vol 1.0 did, except instead of leading him to the Nexus, the entire thing leads him to the Hedron, freeing Ugin from his now-hedron prison.

    From the story;
Framing her, in the sky high above, the dragon tempests churned with new vigor. New dragons erupted from them, shrieking with the simple, unrestrained glory of being.

And we still don't know whether the non-draconians will be in absolute subservience to the broodlords or not. Might depend on the particular broods. Remember--in FRF, the dragons aren't really conquering so much as merely preying on non-draconians. For all intents and purposes, they're ALREADY dominant, since the khanates are for the most part on the defensive, but they're not ruling in any political sense of the term. Whereas I expect that while the broodlords may well be like kings in DTK, the khans are still like marquises, or possibly even dukes. Contrary to what Vol posits on Hellkite Overlord, is a benevolent or at least benign dragon really that vanishingly rare outside of Kamigawa?

The Tarkir dragons we witness thus far (base on story and cards) are a vicious bunch. Sentient, perhaps even wise, but they showed no intention of stopping their attack on Tarkirians. Ugin very much gave birth to all the dragons and never told them to stop toying with the less powerful races, the Tarkirians are beneath his notice.

Yes, the dragons were dominating in Fate Reforged, but in Dragons of Tarkir it's possible that they had fully earned the worship of their respective clans so they start wars against each other instead. The dragons had territories, now with the lesser races they'll be able to expand that territory.

So in the end, where Sarkhan sought to end the clan-battles by bringing back dragons, might end up only making it more fierce than ever. If that happens, I adore the irony, and find it perfectly fitting for someone who dare to manipulate the past for his own obsession.

Maro did say we will have some of the arch-types of timetravel stories one of which is the changed timeline being just as bad or worse then the old one. Having Tarkir "doomed" to be torn apart by waring Clan/Broods seems like the nice slap of irony seen in time travel stories though maybe Ugin will keep Tarkir from fully falling part?).

And maybe their new sapience is a side effect of Ugin being revived? (see the quote above)

Jace, Sorin, and the Theros gods are immediately off the list. The Theros gods might have a lot of power on that plane, but they're limited, and Elspeth has shown they can be killed by a moderately strong planeswalker. It's been proven that Jace couldn't hold a candle to Bolas, lasting only a second against him. Sorin is much more powerful, but the two dragons will dwarf him just due to their natural strength and magical affinity. Ugin and Bolas are comparable in power, and even pre-mending Ugin couldn't stop the Eldrazi alone. That leaves the Eldrazi Titans, and since Emrakul seems to be the main one, my vote is Emrakul. Karn is still alive, but would probably be about as strong as Sorin.

Its debatable if Theroes gods can be killed, Xenagos still had a mortal core, still was injured by Nyleas bow and needed to drain a ton of nix born to keep his godly statues when Elsepth killed him. Could they be killed? Sure, but we don't know since the only god to have shown to be killed* was still somewhat mortal.

*Not talking about being absorbed like Cacophony or turning into a new version of themselves.

Personally I think we gonna see a few more "morph tribal" cards like Trail of Mystery that will encourage you to keep them facedown or maybe have have colorless creatures more of a theme as seen with Ugin's Construct.

Doug Beyer recently let slip an interesting tidbit on his blog: http://dougbeyermtg.tumblr.com/post/106526819294/doug-the-mothership-has-a-copy-editing-problem-i
Kolaghan is female (that’s just a typo in the article), although gender is a bit of an interesting issue when it comes to Tarkir dragons, as we’ll see when we learn more about their life cycle.

I may be way off, but it seems like he's saying that dragons may change genders after a certain amount of time, so when we get back to the "present" in Dragons of Tarkir, all the brood mothers are now patriarchs of the clans.

Or you know on Tarkir Dargons are spawned from mana filled tempests making gender kind of unnecessary for Tarkir dragons.

Why does Mark Rosewater not wish for dragons to be below a certain mana cost or power?

Cause they are the iconic creature type of red which should be a big splashy creature and all the other iconic (saved for hydras) tend to be around 4 power and cmc 5+ unless a set has a tribal theme (Shards of Alara, Avacyn Restored ect).

But Dragons of Tarkir probably will have Dragon tribal, which invalidates your argument.

I just bolded why my augment is valid since you seemed to have skipped it. Rolleyes

Let me repeat: Maro likes the iconic creatures of the five colors at a certain rarity, CMC and p/t range since Wizards wants them to be big and splashy (however like all magic guild line this can be bended). HOWEVER if a set wants to have a tribal sub-theme using one of the iconic, then they let the iconic creatures go to lower rarities, cmc and p/t as needed as well as bleeding them into other colors, as need/wanted by the designers of the set.

Notice a connection. Most of theses cards pull things out of the graveyard, including another copy of themselves. If you run two of them in a deck you could recycle them over and over. Another set of those cards deal with turn manipulation and those can be very OP if you know how to make an endless turn deck or a mind slave deck. And the last set just seems to be the "wish" effect.

Btw Praetor's Counsel wasn't printed in 2014 it was in Mirrodin Besieged which was in 2011.

Honesty I think Nahiri is dead. I don't how exactly the mending effected oldwalkers but either she aged up to her true age and died or she lived her last years as a neowalker before dying. IF she is still is alive she would be a very old kor by now, since the mending took ~50-100 years before Alara block.

I'm wondering if there was a cycle that got cut at Uncommon.

We have Lightform, Cloudform, and Rageform, but green and black have no "Form." Green has the Formless Nurturing, but that's not quite the same.
I mean, jeez, if you're gonna make something that wordy, get some use out of it!

I'm not crazy right? Not the only one who saw this?

In one of the articles it says they did these as a 3 card cycle.

There is something else that I've observed, though at the moment it is still very very early to make any sort of deduction one way or another, but I do find it interesting all the same. It might end up being nothing of any consequence, but I want all of you to look through the cards spoiled so far.
None of the clan mechanics have appeared on the enemy color of the clan.
Still really early, so that might change, but if it doesn't, that would speak volumes about the direction they are likely taking things.

Well we just got the Temur aligned Frost Walker. Still I think your right that the enemy color cards will be in smaller amounts and probably won't have the clan/brood mechanic.

To allow a higher as-fan of legendary creatures in a set and since its a small set we only have 10 mythic spots.
