So what do you guys think Liliana and Chandra UR will be about since so far I don't think they are gonna be in Battle for Zendikar (though Chandra might be a player in the next set) and the UR are suppost to set up Battle for Zendikar?
The salt here is so piled up here we should have some margaritas lol.
I enjoyed the story, nice call back to the origin story since Gideon still working with pride issues but in a differnt way. I'm guessing Jace UR next week will pick up right after this one.
I’d say go with 11 common colorless cards, this gives us room to include how many equipment we might need and I think a Terramorphic Expanse or Traveler's Amulet card would be good to include to help muti-color decks. A good start I think would be five to seven common equipment, one common mana fixer and three to five common artifacts. While five is a good number for equipment we might want to bump them just in case.
I say go with the version with the best gameplay.
I think two suit-up cards in white, two in red and two in blue sounds good. If we think the deck needs more we can always add in artifact/ equipment supports as well. Personally I like artifact supports better then they aren’t so tied to one kind of deck. Prowess is a good tool to use here too.
I say the Prowess bonuses approach would be the best. This way we keep the commons simple and lets make better equipment which will probity show up or be used more then the creatures. This also lets us get some temp going if we combo it with Ogre’s Clever cards.
So I guess we're going to learn about Ashaya the elemental in another few weeks? There was mention that there would be a week for each walker in WUBRG order upcoming and UR would follow those weeks.
Perhaps Ashaya's story will be the bridging story between Origins and Battle for Zendikar, since the new Nissa art features her standing on Ashaya and Nissa, Sage Animist implies that she could summon Ashaya before the events of Battle of Zendikar.
We been told the backside of the walkers show them in in the present so this might be more of a "preview" for her storyline in Battle for Zendikar.
Possible return of the Ally "Mechanic" God i hope not, it´s so narrow
Check yourself. People loved playing with allies, and they got a LOT of negative feedback that they just dropped them in Rise. They are just as "Narrow" as Goblins, Merfolk, and Elves.
Creatures arent mechanics. The problem with Ally, tho it´s great flavorwise for the story, is that it takes zero effort to make an ally deck.
"Okay so i cast this guy that gets +1+1 because i control another ally guy" I mean come on. Soulbond in Avacyn Restored for instance was more complex in that it took some thinking to do like which creature would be best to soulbond with this and why? Also the interaction with bouncing so you could soulbond the creature to another one.
Same with slivers and in most cases most tribal decks. Not everything in magic has to be complex. And one of the best things I liked about Allys decks in the orignal zendikar was all the differnt ways to play. I had friends with UG ally mill deck and WR agrro ally decks and a friend with a +1/+! counter ally deck. While all having the same "mechanic" "When this creature ebt do something X times for each ally" each one played and felt differnt.
Well maybe all the retcon are thanks to Sarkhan time traveling (hope not).
Offically I don't think thats the case, since they kept on about how Tarkir time shifting would only effects Tarkir past and not the past of the mutiverse at large.
However this is my personal headcannon to expain away all the MAJOR recons.
After reading the five Origin stories, I think it's safe to say that Origins represents a soft reboot of MTG Creative. (I guess that should have been more obvious to me.) I'd be curious to know how much was previously set in stone for the core planeswalkers by Wizards versus how much was invented entirely by the various novel authors and just accepted by Wizards. Hopefully, all planeswalkers created from here on out are done so with at least a broad-strokes idea of their entire history, to avoid any future retcons and inconsistencies. Likewise, hopefully they have internally pinned down the details for all extant planeswalkers (e.g. home planes for characters like Elspeth. Moag, maybe?).
Regardless of the quality of these stories and the virtue of the retcons within, my bigger concern is this: if Wizards is willing to change considerable details on the fly, it makes it very hard for a Vorthos to become invested in characters and story, because of lack of continuity and (more importantly) consistency. Origins as a new beginning that adapts some and discards other elements of previous stories is all well and good, but we've been here before with the Mending (harder reboot, without any real retcons), and The Brothers War / Weatherlight Cycle (effective new beginning that involved numerous retcons). I fear this current paradigm will only last until Wizards needs to reboot Creative again for some reason (to tie closer to future MtG movies? Or is that one of the roots of this round of retcons?), and then we'll probably get yet another round of retcons.
(There's probably a question here for the MtG Panel about whether they can assure us things will be more consistent going forward.)
This is how I'm bascally thinking about all the rectons. As a DC comics fan I'm used to them rebooting everything but keeping most of the same story beats (Superman is raised by the Kents, Batman is orphaned) so thats how I'm viewing this. Funny enough this starts after a character plays around with time...
Meh kinda disapointed on this weeks story. Never been a Nissa fan and this story didn't really make me feel for her, though I do like the elemental magic she has.
As for the Eldrazi beening evil and malicious thats from Nissa POV who has a more limited view then lets say Sorin or Ugin.
I'm open to spreading around suit-up, as well as super and mutate since those are the three type of powers we are going with.

Yes but Godsend had fallen through one of its own rips in nyx;
Not on Theros so no Nyx effect? It will be intresting to see how Nyx stuff is effect by being on other planes.

Q: Senatorofinnistrad asked: In the new story-telling era, could a planeswalker be included in the story but with no card in the associated block?
A: Yes.
