Oh wow great walker for green. Also reminds me slightly of Tezzeret, Agent of Bolas in the idea of using their ultimate on the next turn.

Yes Wizards, eat up all the planeswalker slots on the the gatewatch, surely people wont become bored of them!

Not really if you think they are taking up the slots they would have if the core set was still a thing.

To be honest I was expecting to see Karn on Kaladesh. I haven't even consider the possibility of Tezzeret especially when he and the new planeswalker seem to have similar powers.
Nevertheless I like having Tezzeret around Smile This is shaping up to be a good story Smile

I've been thinking the same thing about Tezzeret and Saheeli (as well Daretti) and I wonder how they make them different. Maybe Tezzeret will be more control or maybe more spell based like the preview card that has him in the art.

Morbid Curiosity is like a black Life's Legacy, not bad. Fortuitous Find isn't too shabby either.

Still hoping we get something big from this stream. I could have sworn during the first panel they mentioned they'd be showing us Dovin's card at PAX, like 99.9% positive that was said.

They also have a closing program where sarkhan-volkswagen (a tumblr blogger who working with wizard on pax by live blogging) say people might want watch that so plenty of time for something big like Chandra or Dovin ect.

Well with today story we know Tezzeret is the head judge of the fair, as well as Nissa getting some character development on Kaladesh my newest guesses for walkers:

    Kaladesh
    Chandra R
    Saheeli UR
    Dovin WU

    Aether Revolt
    Nissa G
    TezzeretUB

This looks about right. I guess either Tezzeret or Dovin might be Esper (WUB) though: the 3-color 'walker might become a thing after Sarkhan and Tamiyo.

Yeah but both of those where special cases. For Sarkhan they wanted two different version for Tarkir, for color balancing reasons they needed him to have G in him but didn't want to make him RG since he'd would have been the third rg walker in a row (with Domi and Xenagos just coming out) so they made him RBG since he is a Jund character. But then development wanted to change him since Jund wasn't supported in standard at the time so they made him RGU.

For Tamiyo they wanted her in the block, but we already had a U walker and all five slots taken, so development told design that they had to make Tamiyo 3 colors or not have her in the block as card.

For Kaladesh, as far as I can tell their is no issues like that unless they give Liliana a card in this block which I don't think they will do.

To be Head Judge at the Fair, he would have to have been established on Kaladesh for a long time, right?

That, or Bolas pulled some strings.

If tezzeret has been on Kaladesh for some time than that makes me wonder did he willingly left Phyrexia or did the praetors find a way to get rid of him?

Since the canon around that time is fuzzy (technically last we saw Tezzeret, he was going to fight Glissa for Karn in a praetor-less New Phyrexia) the best I can pull together is after Karn left and the praetor began their civil war, Bolas had Tezzeret leave, I'm guess since Bolas wants to wait and see how the fight for control over New Phyrexia plays out.

nope Dovin may look like a strawman but he will be a hero of this story. It will be interesting to see how it plays out.

Just because they introduce a character and give them a card, does not mean they will feature prominently in the story. Just ask Arlinn.

I'm hoping they stick with this Monday/Wednesday two a week format for a bit. Means they can delve into more stories, both in the mainline and side plots. Despite the awesome plot twist, Eldritch Moon just seemed so rushed.

A friend of mine made an good theory that Wednesday we might be getting the planeswalekr guild to Kaladesh and that is why we got this story today.

That would be nice, but we haven't gotten those since Tarkir unfortuantely. Maybe they could come back?
That said, they did this last week too if I remember correctly.

This is also the first new world we have been to since Tarkir.

I'm now somehow sure that Dovin Baan ain't the villain of this story. EEK!
    Don't know why... :p

I'm glad Tezzeret is back, though I do wonder how he got in-vegtabled. Perhaps Bolas decided he could be useful again.

That is what happened and happened was before scares of mirrodin.

    On checking in with the planeswalkers 2015 says;

Pursuing new sources of power. Although the artificer Tezzeret has pledged his loyalty to the dragon Planeswalker Nicol Bolas, he prefers to recall his pledge only when it works to his own advantage. When Bolas sent Tezzeret to investigate the corrupted plane of New Phyrexia, Tezzeret was eager to wrestle leadership of the plane from its current "Father of Machines," the silver golem Karn. But his efforts were thwarted, and he has since begun a new mission for the dragon, carefully laying out his plans from a new corner of the Multiverse. . . .

So he might be on Kaladesh looking to take aether for some reason, since this is written with Kaladesh known coming up.

I wonder if Tez brought a vial of glistening oil with him. I mean, with all these machines around, why not do something fun? Wink

While the canon around scars of mirrodin are fuzzy (the novel had no mention of praetors for example), Tezzeret hated Phyrexica and I don't think he'd want help spread them.

Tezzeret is back in today's story. Is it a surprise or did I (as usual) miss the announcement?

EDIT: And Chandra's mom still lives.

Nope this was new. At pax they covered the bottom part of a card, Larger Then Life with something like "to see the rest of the card on monday" and it revealed in flavor text that Tezzeret is the head judge. Looks like we got our Bolas connection.

Angels? Really? On Kaladesh? I did not expect that. Your source on this, please?

But, more significantly, there don't appear to be any goblins on Kaladesh. Contraptions will need a different plane.

Worldbuilding panel. Revealed a four-armed angel, and what looked to be a flying leviathan along with the tiger dragon.

Ah. Thank you. I didn't have time to watch any of the panels. At least they are attempting to integrate the angels somewhat into the background of Kaladesh, and aren't just shoehorning them in like the elves. It's nice to know we won't be going a whole year without angels, since Amonkhet probably won't have them.

How are elves shoehorned into Kaldesh? And I don't see why we couldn't get angels on Amonkhet. Then again they would have been fine in Theros and they skipped them so who knows.

Elves are a race found primarily in western fantasy. Kaladesh is mainly eastern based, specifically, Indian. I just feel there are creature creature types in Magic that could have been a more logical fit, such as the Naga.

Yes although creative has show they will stretch a bit to add in the iconic/characteristic races when possible (Dragons on Innistrad, zombies and leonin on Theros, non-Rakshasa demons on Tarikir) as well as try to make the world feel closer to a magic world and not just a straight rip off what ever source they are following. Add in as well that Kaladesh is a bottom up design and not top down.

Didn't all the Elder Dragons come from prehistoric Dominaria?

I don't know if it's technically "prehistoric", but yes, the original five Elder Dragons all came from ancient Dominaria. Nicol Bolas is from Dominaria.

Nope, go to Bolas wiki page, lists his home plane as unknown as says he fought with a demon leviathan in a "still young" Dominaria and that it was t he first planeswalkers battlefield on said plane. Points to Bolas and his kinds pre-dating Dominaria.

Now where is the source for Bolas being born on Domiaria?

So, angels -divine beings- having four arms is fine, but Vedalken -merely blue skinned mortals- having four arms would be culturally insensitive? Uhh

You didn't read the post did you? The four arms (as well the the different colored skins and animal features) for Hindu mythology is a sign of the divine. As you pointed out, vedalken are mortal and an angel is divine. Now I'm not Hindu or well versed in it so I don't know if using an angel would be considered culturally insensitive, but having signs of divinity on an angels fits better then having the four armed vedalken or having loxodon on Keledesh.
