Gutterstorm posted a message on Legendary Creatures in Rivals of IxalanJust because a creature has more than one head doesn't make it a hydra. The defining feature of a hydra isn't multiple heads but multiple regrowing heads. No one has ever thought of Cerberus or his little brother Orthus as hydras.Posted in: Magic Storyline -

I don't mind fun at all, and Gisath is a terrible card, the large majority of the targets for it are creatures I wouldn't play in a non-tribal Dinosaur deck.
But why *would* you play Gishath in a non-tribal Dinosaur deck to begin with? -

Etherium Sage posted a message on Rivals of Ixalan planeswalker deck cardsPosted in: The Rumor MillQuote from Colt47 »Quote from Creedmoor »I for one believe in a world of Magic without Eldrazi, Ugin, Bolas.... and any of the random and baseless ideas people have that follow these same old and boring characters around.
I hope none of these things make an appearance in this world because I believe it drastically impacts the flavor of the world. After all... We only just left an entire plane dominated by Bolas. I would rather not linger in yet another plot designed around him, or the Eldrazi. Ugin I'm a little more open to since we haven't seen much with him, but I fear Ugin' s appearance ensues for a Bolas or a Eldrazi appearance.
I wouldn't care at all if the eldrazi, Ugin, or Bolas were used in the story. What I do care about is WoTC story writers making Super Hero / Avengers style stories instead of ones that are more reminiscent of a good fantasy adventure. The way Bolas got defeated in Time Spiral trumps the complete stupidity with the BFZ block. Heck, I don't think anyone is going to want to remember most of these contemporary sets at this rate.
I want to remember these contemporary sets, if for no other reason than these sets are building up to something, but I guess I'm not "anyone".
Quote from Colt47 »On the subject of the walkers, I'm kind of wondering if the real Angrath will follow a similar pirate type theme to it's abilities. Also, did Vraska become the first gorgon vampire?
I think Angrath might have a Pirate sub-theme to him, but like this version, he'll probably focus more on his burn and creature removal schtick, since he's Minotaur Rider.
Also @Vraska, say what now? Is this because vampires are in her deck, or did I miss something? -

"I don't have to kill you, but I will maim you and leave you defenseless for my Dinosaur to eat." was a thing that happened, and remember they are the good guys and not those dirty evil vampires.
Again, that's not the reason at all. Only the knights in the sun empire don't kill personally. They kill through dinosaur to show their mastery over their beast companions.
I suppose this is one of those instances where someone just wants to hate something and desperately tries to find reasons to do so.
Also, as Etherium Sage said, the creative team has stated in the past that they didn't want any one force in this conflict to be "good" or "bad". It's all supposed to be various shades of grey. So basically you dislike an aspect of the story that creative themselves denied exists and is not supported at all by the material we have. You're literally making this up.
I'm the last guy to senselessly defend these Magic stories as I critisize them a lot myself and personally I don't even like the Ixalan arc as much as other arcs in the past, but this is just ridiculous. And not only that, it also gets annoying when it keeps being repeated every three pages after people show you that you're wrong by quoting or linking to articles etc. -

"I came into this thread and made a post just to say that I am not interested in the current conversation at all."
Quote from ryuplaneswalker »Edit : by the way, Dinosaurs are NOT a faction. The Sun Empire is a faction. Dinosaurs are the things they ride and feed people to so that they can be all high and mighty about their stupid hypocritical "we don't kill bullcrap.

Who says Theros has the mana to do that? We been hammered in that mana on Zendikar mana is wild and powerful, which is why the eldrazi there trapped there and why Ob went there to try and remove his curse. Theros seem pretty average in that aspect. Also it was Ugin who came up with the pattern to trap and drag in the eldrazi so it is unlikely the gods would know that specific pattern.
Which means the gods would still "lose".
14 dude. And other have pointed out how Bolas would win against the gods. Even if Kruphix knew everything about Bolas, doesn't mean he could stop him.

The part where she breaks the fourth wall was really beautiful. And I love the subtext that Doug gave Sorin (total BA btw since he took out so many angels) to show his unhappiness at unmaking Avacyn. Just reading the story I felt like I lose 3 life. The series of images afterwards was very touching as well.

That doesn't really matter thoough. I mean Avacyn symbol doesn't look like her.

A random UG legend would also be awesome.
Liliana will mostly be mono-black and I really don't think Tamiyo will be given a card in this block.
